Abstract

Claims (8)

  1. Multifunctional pliers, comprising a body (1) provided with or on which is mounted a first arm (10) having one end with a gripping area or handle (13), and a second arm (11) having also one end, opposite to the body, with a similar gripping area (14), this second arm being movable relatively to the body about a pivot pin (12) carried thereby, and a toggle mechanism (22) able to transform a rotary movement of the second arm into a translation movement for a blade (8) that slides in the body towards an oppositely placed die member (7) that is also carried by the body via a returning part (6), this die member being provided for cooperating with a work tool (9) mounted at that end of the blade (8) which is directed to the die member, characterized in that the two arms (10, 11) of the pliers are sufficiently near one from another so to be grippable together by only one user's hand, the second arm (11) being able to be brought nearer to the first arm following a contraction of the fingers towards the palm, and in that the sliding blade (8) comprises an articulation pin (29) with a control rod (23) rotatively mounted to the body about a fixed pivot member (28) and driven in its movement by means of a return link (24) respectively articulated on the rod, between the pivot member (28) and the articulation pin (29), and on the second arm.
  2. Pliers according to claim 1, characterized in that it comprises a hair-pin shaped return spring (17), mounted between the two arms (10, 11), so to exert thereon a permanent effort tending to separate the second arm from the first arm.
  3. Pliers according to claim 2, characterized in that the return spring (17) has a central part that is coiled around a support stud (18) carried by the first arm (10), the ends (19, 20) of the hair-pin being respectively stopped and immobilized by one and the other of the two arms.
  4. Pliers according to anyone of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the fixed pivot member (28) about which the control rod (23) rotates, traverses a groove (27) provided along the longitudinal direction of the rod for authorizing a small relative movement thereof with respect to the pivot member, following a displacement of the sliding blade (8), itself connected to the rod about the articulation pin (29).
  5. Pliers according to anyone of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the body (1) has a cross-section substantially in the form of an inverted U, the sides (3, 4) of which are parallel to the sliding blade (8) housed therebetween, these sides each comprising a lengthened aperture (34) that is travelled by the articulation pin (29) of the rod (23) on the blade.
  6. Pliers according to claim 5, characterized in that the sliding blade (8) comprises a central groove (30) in which is engaged a fixed finger (31) that is carried by the body (1) and which extends transversally between its parallel sides (3, 4), in order to provide the guiding of the blade that remains permanently parallel thereto during the displacement thereof caused by movement of the rod (23).
  7. Pliers according to anyone of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the first arm (10) is fixed with respect to the body (1).
  8. Pliers according to anyone of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the first arm (10) is articulated about a pin (41) carried by the body (1), in order to facilitate its bringing closer to the second arm (11), the stroke of which must however remain sufficient for permitting the suitable move of the control blade (23).
