Definitions
- the invention relates to a parasol base.
- a parasol base is commonly used to hold substantially vertical the mast of a parasol on a surface in which one does not wish to drill a hole to receive the end of the mast, such as, in particular, a terrace, a sidewalk or lawn. It is known, for example from DE-U-83 29,665 or US-A-4,596,262, to use a parasol base comprising an envelope of plastic material capable of being filled with ballast material such as, for example, water or sand. In this kind of device, a hollow tube is placed in the center of the envelope and can receive the part lower of the parasol mast. The hollow tube can be fixed by ratio to the envelope thanks to a quarter turn assembly or other means.
- the invention aims to solve these problems and to propose a parasol base comprising an envelope suitable for filling ballast material capable of withstanding a couple important transmitted by the mast of the parasol without deforming or drop the parasol.
- the invention relates to a parasol base comprising an envelope capable of being filled with a material of ballast and a hollow tube adapted to receive the lower end a mast, characterized in that said hollow tube is integral of and surrounded by a reinforcing spacer, said spacer crossing said envelope right through, coming to bear on the surface of said envelope and being able to distribute over said surface a force transmitted to the hollow tube.
- the forces transmitted by the mast to hollow tube are taken up by the spacer and distributed over the envelope surface so they don't risk distort it. So, in strong winds, the hollow tube is not torn from the envelope.
- the spacer is formed by an upper sleeve and a sleeve lower, these sleeves being assembled with each other.
- This construction of the spacer allows it to be put in place crossing the envelope right through while it includes support surfaces that are not parallel to the mast at the same time above and below the envelope.
- a bearing surface of the upper sleeve on the casing is constituted by a collar generally perpendicular to the mast in place in the hollow tube.
- the sleeve lower than a flared shape turned downwards of such that it is suitable for receiving the upper end of the hollow tube of an identical parasol base stored under the base parasol. Thanks to this aspect of the invention, it is possible to stack umbrella feet in accordance with the invention, disassemble the hollow mast receiving tube. The feet of parasol are thus immediately operational when they have been stored or transported and there is no risk of losing a hollow mast receiving tube.
- the sleeves are provided with stiffening ribs, these ribs to resist the forces transmitted by the hollow tube mast reception.
- the envelope is advantageously provided with depressions receiving these ribs of stiffening, so that the facing surfaces of the spacer and the envelope can be close together, which guarantees good dimensional stability of the parasol base the invention.
- the envelope has a nearby drain hole a first lower edge, the opposite lower edge being shaped like a pivot handle about an axis substantially horizontal near the first lower edge. Thanks to this aspect of the invention, it is possible to empty the envelope in lifting it by the handle to rotate it so as to bring the drain hole closer to the ground. In particular, it is not necessary to return the envelope while this one is full to drain it through its opening of filling. This therefore avoids the painful handling of an object heavy.
- the envelope door near a second lower edge, a rolling device, the opposite bottom edge being conforms to a pivot handle about an axis substantially horizontal near the second lower edge.
- the parasol base the elements of which appear at the Figure 1 includes a plastic envelope 1 made by molding, blowing or rotational molding, the capacity of which is about 50 liters.
- This envelope can be ballasted by filling with a liquid such as water and / or sand or of another particulate material. It has a hole central 2 able to receive fixing elements for a foot umbrella and a filling hole 3 in which can be dumped ballast material.
- a plug 4 allows to close off the orifice 3.
- a hollow tube 5 is provided to receive the end bottom of a mast 6.
- a clamping ring 7 can be arranged at the top of the tube 5 and tightened around the mast 6 thanks to a nut 8.
- a spacer 10 is formed of an upper sleeve 11 and lower sleeve 12 assembled through cooperation with an external thread 11a of the sleeve 11 and has an internal thread 12 of the sleeve 12.
- the spacer 10 can be formed by enclosing in the central hole 2 of the casing 1 the lower sleeve 12 from below and the upper sleeve 11 from above and by screwing these two sleeves one inside the other.
- the spacer 10 is disposed in the hole cen, tral 2, around the tube 5. It crosses the envelope 1 on the part in part, i.e. from top to bottom in Figure 2, and comes pressing against the surface of the envelope 1.
- the sleeve 11 comprises a flange 11 b extending in a substantially horizontal direction and partially covering the upper part of the envelope 1.
- the sleeve 12 on the other hand, has a generally frustoconical and flared external shape and its lower part 12 b comes into contact with the ground when the parasol base is placed on the ground.
- the spacer 10 formed by the sleeves 11 and 12 partially encloses the envelope 1 with which it is rigidly assembled.
- the sleeve 11 also comprises a thread 11 c capable of receiving the lower end of the hollow tube 5, so that the hollow tube is firmly held in position relative to the spacer 10.
- the hollow tube 5 comprises a external flange 5a extending in a direction substantially perpendicular to the mast 6 and resting on the upper face of the sleeve 11 formed by the flange 11 b.
- the tube 6 cannot pivot around a substantially horizontal axis located in its lower part because the flange 5 has keeps it in position.
- the sleeves 11 and 12 are provided with stiffening ribs which are arranged as follows: ribs 15 are provided inside the orifice of the sleeve 11 which receives the tube 5, so that the tube 5 comes to bear against these ribs, which further contributes to keeping it in position. Ribs 16 are provided under the flange 11 b and extend provided inside the sleeve 12 and give it good rigidity.
- the casing 1 is provided with depressions 18 for receiving the ribs 16, so that the flange 11 b can be arranged as close as possible to the upper surface of the casing 1.
- the collar 11 b is also provided with a hole 19 intended to be superimposed on the filling orifice 3 and in which the plug 4 is housed, since the collar 11 b covers the envelope 1 including in the zone in which the opening 3 is provided.
- a keying system can be provided by the cooperation of the ribs 15 and the depressions 18, this system preventing the sleeve 11 from being put in place while the bore 19 is not superimposed with the opening 3.
- the casing 1 includes a drain port 20 with a stopper 21, the drain port being located on a lower edge 1a of the casing 1.
- the opposite lower edge 1b of the envelope 1 is shaped as a handle 22 by a depression in which the user can insert the end of his fingers.
- an axis 24 is snapped into housings of which only one referenced 1 c appears in Figure 1 so as to be able to serve as an axis for a roller 25 which constitutes, with the axis 24, a rolling device of the parasol base.
- the axis 24 and the roller 25 are arranged near a lower edge 1 d of the casing 1 while the opposite lower edge 1 e is shaped as a handle 26, so that by exerting a force F ', shown in Figure 4, it is possible to rotate the parasol base around a horizontal axis substantially parallel to the edge 1 d and to move the parasol base by rolling the roller 25 on the ground.
- the parasol base of the invention can be easily moved even when it has a significant weight.
- FIG. 5 Another advantageous aspect of the invention has been shown in Figure 5.
- two identical parasol legs are stacked.
- the flared shape of the lower sleeve 12 of the upper parasol base accommodates, under the area of connection of sleeves 11 and 12 and fixing of the hollow tube 5 of the upper leg, the upper end of a hollow tube 5 ' and a corresponding tightening nut 8 'belonging to the foot of lower parasol.
- the parasol feet conform to the invention can be stored and possibly transported from their place of production to their place of sale in being stacked without having to be dismantled, which reduces the risk of losing the mast receiving tubes and allows make these parasol legs immediately operational. This is particularly interesting, for example, when used intensive on the terrace of a restaurant where parasols and their feet should be stored safe and secure all nights.
