- the present invention generally refers machines for washing clothes, in particular clothes washing machines of the front-loading type, provided with an improved type of safety door interlock arrangement.
- Household-type washing machines are known in the art which are provided with door interlock arrangements of various type and with different characteristics. According to their mode of operation, all such arrangements can be grouped into following homogeneous categories:
- This type of door interlock arrangement protects the user against his or her being able to gain access to machine parts which are moving at any hazardous speed (such as the drum rotating at spin-extraction speed) and, furthermore, during the entire washing cycle in the case of failures which are likely to occur in clothes washing machines provided with electronically controlled drive motors.
- the second drawback occurs when the main on-off switch of the machine is turned on while the loading door of the machine is open. In fact, under such circumstances the washing machine would start immediately upon closing the door, thereby activating the cycle phase that is set at that moment on the programme selector switch and at the same time locking the door in its closed condition. It will be appreciated that such an operation may not be done intentionally, ie. may occur accidentally, and may therefore give rise to hazardous situations involving serious accidents to children or animals that may have accidentally crept into the drum of the washing machine when its loading door was open and its drum at a standstill.
- Such a type of door interlock arrangement is only effective in protecting the user against accidents that may occur when opening the door of an operating washing machine during spin-extraction phases (since no actual danger practically exists in the other phases of the washing cycle) and has further the advantage of enabling the loading door of the machine to be immediately opened in all other phases of the same washing cycle. It however has a major drawback in that it is not effective in preventing accidents of the type described above in connection with the second major drawback of the door interlock arrangement described under 1) above from occurring.
- Such a door interlock arrangtement has a third major drawback in that, should the coil of the same door interlock arrangement happen to become energized accidentally, eg. due to a short-circuit condition of the Triac, the washing machine remains electrically energized as well, so that it is still enabled to carry out all the various operations and working steps provided for by the washing cycle that is being performed (including therefore also those steps and phases involving hazardous operating conditions), while the door can in fact be opened all the time.

- the signals that are present at the connections 13 inform the control device 10 on the conditions of the machine and are automatically and periodically compared with the previously stored conditions referring to non-hazardous operating conditions and modes. When such a comparison gives an identity of conditions as an outcome, this means that the machine is operating in a manner that has been previously defined as "non-hazardous".
- control device 10 sends a signal to the current control device 5 so as to enable it to transmit appropriate pulses to the electromagnet 2 to cause the moving element 6 to retract into the electromagnet, thereby enabling the door to be immediately opened, without any further delays and resulting waste of time.
- the expedient is advantageously adopted according to which said control device 10 is arranged so as to send at least two distinct signals to the current control device 5, so that the moving element will be caused to retract and the door will be able to be opened only with two distinct current commands , since a single current command acting in the direction of a retraction of the moving element into the first extraction position thereof is not yet sufficient to enable the door to be opened, considering that in said first extraction position of said moving element, the latter is still engaging the afore cited catch means 11.

Claims (7)
- Waschmaschine, die einen Laugenbehälter, der eine Trommel aufnimmt, mit einer Öffnung, die vorhanden ist, um Zugang zu der Trommel zu erhalten, und einer Tür, die vorhanden ist, um die Öffnung zu verschließen, eine Türverriegelungsanordnung (1), die eine elektronische Steuer-und-Befehls-Einrichtung (10) enthält, eine elektrische Betätigungseinrichtung (2), die mit einem sich bewegenden Element (6) versehen ist, einen Schalter (7) umfasst, der von dem sich bewegenden Element betätigt wird und entsprechend den der elektrischen Betätigungseinrichtung (2) erteilten Befehlen geschlossen ist, wenn sich das sich bewegende Element in einer der ausgefahrenen Positionen befindet, und offen ist, wenn sich das sich bewegende Element in den in die elektrische Betätigungseinrichtung (2) eingefahrenen Positionen befindet, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die elektrische Betätigungseinrichtung über einen ersten Leiter, der mit der Energieversorgung verbunden ist, und über einen zweiten Leiter, der mit einer entsprechenden Stromsteuervorrichtung (5) verbunden ist, gespeist wird, wobei die Vorrichtung durch die Steuer-und-Befehls-Vorrichtung (10) gesteuert wird,
die Betätigungseinrichtung durch entsprechende elektrische Signale betätigt wird, wobei das sich bewegende Element (6) entsprechend der Anzahl und Polarität der von der Stromsteuervorrichtung (5) empfangenen Signale in zwei separate, aufeinanderfolgende ausgefahrene Positionen ausfährt und sich an eine eingezogene Position zurückbewegt,
wenn die Tür geschlossen ist und anschließend bewirkt wird, dass das sich bewegende Element (6) in eine der oben genannten ausgefahrenen Positionen ausfährt, dieses sich bewegende Element mit einer entsprechenden Arretiereinrichtung (11) in Eingriff kommt, die an der Maschine vorhanden ist, um so formschlüssig zu verhindern, dass die Tür geöffnet wird. - Waschmaschine nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass, wenn die Tür geschlossen ist und anschließend bewirkt wird, dass sich das sich bewegliche Element in seine eingezogene Position in dem Elektromagneten zurückbewegt, dieses sich bewegende Element die Arretiereinrichtung freigibt, die an der Tür der Maschine vorhanden ist, so dass die Tür geöffnet werden kann.
- Waschmaschine nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass beim Auftreten vorgegebener Betriebsbedingungen in der Maschine die elektronische Steuer-und-Befehls-Einrichtung (10) auf die Stromsteuervorrichtung (5) einwirkt, um sie zu veranlassen, dass sie wenigstens einen elektrischen Impuls erzeugt, der zu der Betätigungseinrichtung übertragen wird, um zu bewirken, dass das sich bewegende Element mit der Arretiereinrichtung in Eingriff kommt.
- Waschmaschine nach Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass, wenn die vorgegebenen Betriebsbedingungen der Maschine nicht mehr vorliegen, die elektronische Steuer- und Befehlseinrichtung auf die Stromsteuereinrichtung (5) einwirkt, um sie zu veranlassen, zwei elektrische Impulse zu erzeugen, die zu der Betätigungseinrichtung übertragen werden, um zu bewirken, dass das sich bewegende Element die Arretiereinrichtung vollständig freigibt.
- Waschmaschine nach Anspruch 3 oder 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass sie eine elektrisch gespeiste Anzeigevorrichtung (27) umfasst, die mit einem Anschluss desselben über einen elektrischen Schalter (7), der von dem sich bewegenden Element (6) geschlossen wird, wenn Letzteres ausgefahren wird, um mit der Arretiereinrichtung (11) in Eingriff zu kommen, mit einer Energieversorgungsquelle verbunden ist.
- Waschmaschine nach einem der vorangehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass sie mit einem Schalter (27) versehen ist, der so ausgeführt ist, dass er automatisch eine Vielzahl elektrischer Lasten und/oder Funktionen (20) der Maschine entsprechend mit der Energieversorgung verbindet, wenn die Tür geschlossen wird.
- Waschmaschine nach einem der vorangehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass, wenn die Tür geschlossen wird, ein elektrisches Signal automatisch über entsprechende Schalt- und Verbindungseinrichtungen (22, 23, 25) zu der Steuer-und-Befehls-Einrichtung (10) gesendet wird, die so die Maschine in die Lage versetzt, ihre Arbeitsprogramme auszuführen.
