Rail safety device for supporting a barrier (2) for protecting and separating off a stretch of track rail (3), especially a stretch of railway track, having a holding bracket (1), a fastening device (4) for releasably securing the holding bracket against the profile of the track rail (3), and a stanchion (5) for the barrier (2), which stanchion (5) can be arranged at a predetermined spacing from the fastening device (4) and stands up from the fastening device (4) beside the stretch of track, the fastening device (4) of the holding bracket (1) having a holding region (6), which engages over at least a region of the profile of substantially H- or T-shaped cross-section of the track rail (3) and which is mounted in a manner allowing displacement against the spring force of a resilient spring element (7) and allowing clamping of the fastening device (4) in position against the profile of the track rail (3), and the fastening device (4) having a holding abutment (9), which is arranged at the end of the holding bracket (1) facing the track rail (3) and opposite the holding region (6) and which has a holding portion (10) likewise engaging around at least a region of the H- or T-shaped profile of the track rail (3), the resilient spring element (7) being in the form of a helical compression spring (17), which bears against a counter-bearing limiting the maximum possible displacement distance of the holding region (6) in the direction of the holding abutment (9), which counter-bearing is mounted on a profiled portion (15) of the fixed holding abutment (9) at a location oppositely remote from the abutment part (13),

Rail safety device according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the profiled portion (15) of the holding abutment (9) is of polygonal, especially tetragonal, or round cross-section and is mounted inside a hollow profiled portion (16), of correspondingly shaped cross-section, of the holding region (6) in a manner allowing coaxial longitudinal displacement of the one inside the other.

  7. Rail safety device according to claim 6, characterized in that the quick closure mounting is in the form of a plurality of clamping clips (26), which are attached to the stanchion of the holding bracket and the internal diameter of which corresponds to the external diameter of the bars (30).
  8. Rail safety device according to claim 6 or 7, characterized in that the bars (30) have a length that exceeds the spacing between two holding brackets (1) attached to the stretch of track in neighbouring positions.
  9. Rail safety device according to one of claims 6 to 8, characterized in that the bars (30) are made from an electrically insulating material, preferably a plastics material, and the bars (30) are arranged at the stretch of track in alternating colours so that a bar (30a) coloured in a predetermined first colour, especially the colour white, is in each case followed by a bar (30b) provided with a different, second colour, especially the colour red.
