Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for the continuous casting of strips Non-ferrous metal, in particular made of copper or copper alloys, with a heatable metal receptacle and with a to the metal receptacle a feeder attached mold that emerges from a peripheral portion of the shell a wheel rotatable about a horizontal axis and from one with the metal receptacle connected, cooled mold part, which is close to the one discharge device for the band resulting jacket of the wheel and with the Wheel jacket with a constant cross-section in the discharge direction Form and discharge gap forms
- graphite molds are used to improve the lubricating properties of the graphite material for crack-free To be able to take advantage of strip surfaces that are due to other mold materials the occurring friction between the mold walls and the mold Band cannot be reached. Because the thermal conductivity of the graphite material is comparatively low and decreases with increasing temperature Use of graphite molds because of the necessary for the solidification of the strip Heat removal inevitably put up with a limitation in the casting capacity will. In addition, despite the lubricating properties of the graphite material significant wear of the mold must be expected, namely due to the unavoidable reaction of the mold material at the casting temperatures with the oxygen bound in the casting material. Besides, that will resulting strip by the necessary in the usual horizontal continuous casting Pullers exposed to an adverse tensile stress.
- the stationary mold part is preferably heated, however, solidifies over one narrow inlet gap dosed from the metal receptacle into the form of the Molten metal flowing out of the mold while it is being conveyed on the wheel jacket progressively radially outward from the wheel casing, in the area of the exit roller solidification corresponding to the height of the discharge gap is reached shall be. To ensure this, the exit roller is cooled. Except of the fact that due to the smaller cross section of the mold gap This is a known device because of the one-sided cooling in the area of the mold gap for continuous casting comparatively thin metal strips unsuitable.
- the invention solves the task in that the chilled part of the mold above a horizontal Diameter plane of the wheel is arranged and that the average height of the metal receptacle at least twice, preferably at least 5 times, in The circumferential direction of the wheel corresponds to the clear width of the food neck.
- the weight of the metal receptacle in the melt escaping melt absorbed by the shell of the wheel because the circumferential section of the wheel shell forming the mold wall above one horizontal diameter plane of the wheel.
- This will be the one with the metal receptacle connected, cooled mold part because of the discharge direction constant cross-section of the form and discharge gap in the solidification-related Shrinkage of the belt cooled on both sides relieves the friction largely reduced between the belt and the stationary mold part becomes.
- This part of the mold can therefore consist of graphite in a conventional manner.
- a medium container height is recommended for pouring corresponding to five times the clear width of the gullet to cool it down to prevent in the feeder or vessel area.
- the feeder can also on the wheel side inlet side of the Feeder a slider guided on the wheel casing to control the Inlet cross section of the feeder can be provided.
- the shell of the wheel can therefore be made of copper or a copper alloy to ensure the high thermal conductivity compared to graphite of these materials for good heat dissipation and thus high casting performance to be able to use without the otherwise associated with this mold material Fears disadvantages, particularly with regard to the surface quality of the belt to have to.
- a jacket made of copper or a copper alloy has one compared to that Usually steel wheel bodies have very different thermal expansion behavior on.
- great value must be placed between the two parts of the mold Measures to compensate for the different amounts of heat taken will. This results in particularly simple design relationships Context when the shell of the wheel has radial springs on the wheel body is supported, the uniform radial absorption, especially in the circumferential direction ensure effective changes in length of the jacket.
- the thickness of the strip to be cast is determined by the mutual distance between the determined both walls of the mold associated with the strip surfaces. Because of the Division of the mold between these walls can limit the side for that Band are formed by one of the two mold parts.
- the jacket of the wheel, which for this purpose is one of the strip thickness has corresponding receiving recess for the band into which the metal the metal receptacle flows. The one connected to the metal receptacle The mold part closes this receiving recess only outwards and in the opposite direction direction of discharge.
- the metal receptacle with the associated mold part on the swivel arms by one Wheel axis parallel axis pivotally mounted the pivot arms radial Have pitch cylinder for the metal receptacle, so far Relief of the seals from constraining forces can be achieved because of the Metal receptacle connected mold part due to its articulation to the Swivel arms formed independently of the other by the wheel jacket
- the mold part is centered when the mold part connected to the metal vessel passes over the The positioning cylinder is pressed against the wheel casing.
- the jacket of the wheel a cleaning device on the mold inlet side and one in the direction of the wheel rotation downstream device for applying a lubricant.
- the cleaning device preferably comprising a grinding device can the remaining on the wheel jacket after removing the band from this Lubricant residues are removed to create a new lubricant film to be applied to the jacket so that there is always a constant layer of lubricant results, which ensures a low-friction discharge of the tape.
- the device shown for the continuous casting of strips of copper or copper alloys consists essentially of a housing 1 for a metal receptacle 2, to which a mold 3 connects, which is divided into two and is made from one with the Metal receptacle 2 preferably integrally connected mold part 4 and a mold part 5 composed by a peripheral portion of the shell 6 of a wheel 7 is formed, which is rotatably mounted about a horizontal axis 8.
- Metal melt is provided with an induction heater 10, with the mold part 4 sealingly pressed onto the jacket 6 of the wheel 7.
- Housing 1 for the metal receptacle 2 is mounted on swivel arms 11, which are free sit rotatably on the axis 8 of the wheel 7 and one parallel to the wheel axis 8 Wear pivot axis 12 for the housing 1. Since the swivel arms 11 as a positioning cylinder 13 are formed or such adjusting cylinders for the radial displacement of the Have articulation axis 12, arises for the on the jacket 6 of the wheel 7 on the Setting cylinder 13 pressed mold part 4 according to an independent centering the pivotability about the articulation axis 12, so that the between the two Mold parts 4 and 5 provided that connected to the metal receptacle Gaskets 14 associated with mold part 4 are not caused by centering errors induced forces are exposed.
- the support of the housing 1 with the metal receptacle 2 takes place in the circumferential direction of the wheel 7 via a drivable cam disc 15, preferably an eccentric disc, which is an oscillating Rotational movement of the mold part 4 around the wheel axis 8 allowed.
- the circumferential section of the wheel shell 6 forming the mold part 5 lies above a horizontal plane of diameter through the wheel 7. This has the consequence that the liquid metal from the metal receptacle 2 in the receiving recess 16 for the strip 17 flows, the depth of which corresponds to the thickness of the strip 17 to be cast, so that the mold part 5 not only the wall assigned to one surface, but also forms the side walls of the mold 3, the other wall from which the receiving recess 16 outwards and counter to the direction of rotation of the wheel 7 final mold part 4 there.
- the tape 17 is with the jacket 6 of the rotating wheel 7 carried out, on the one hand tensile loads of the resulting Band avoids and on the other hand sliding friction between the through the jacket 6th mold part 5 and the band 17 largely excluded.
- the jacket 6 of the wheel 7 is preferably made of copper or a copper alloy, the good thermal conductivity properties of this material for the mold 3 to be able to take advantage of.
- the different thermal expansion behavior of this copper material against the iron material of the wheel body 24 makes a thermal expansion compensation required, which is achieved by radial springs 25, via the the copper jacket 6 is supported on the wheel body 24.
- the receiving recess 16 for the tape before entering the mold 3 with a lubricant film be provided.
- a device 26 for the application of lubricant provided, which is connected downstream of a cleaning device 27 to a to always get an even film of lubricant.
- the cooling of the metal receptacle 2 can be made in the usual way via heat sink 28 Copper or cooling lines are carried out which penetrate the mold part 4. So that Solidification shrinkage in the between the wheel jacket 6 and the mold part 4 resulting form and discharge gap 29 does not lead to the formation of voids for a good water make-up with liquid metal.
- This hydrostatic pressure is determined by the level of the metal receptacle 2 achieved. At a fill level that is at least double, preferably at least three times the inside width of the neck corresponds in the circumferential direction of the wheel 7, these conditions can easily be respected.
- the seal can be used to control the make-up conditions 14 on the wheel-side inlet side of the feeder 30 by a slide 31 to be replaced, which is indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG. 2.
- This slider 31 is preferably guided on the wheel casing 6 and has a comb-like protruding teeth trimmed to provide a beneficial influx to achieve the liquid metal from the feeder 30 to the mold and discharge gap 29.
- a heating device 32 for example a gas burner can be provided.
