Claims (9)

  1. An adapter for the surface-mounting of a mortice-type lock, comprising a housing (14) adapted and of a size suitable for receiving said mortice-type lock, said housing comprising holes (24) for its mounting on the surface of a door, through-holes (26,28) for the drive spindle for the follower and/or the lock cylinder, and through-holes (30,31) for the mounting screws of at least one plate.
  2. An adapter according to claim 1, characterised in that since said lock is of the reversible bolt type, the number, locations and/or forms of said through-holes are predetermined so as to provide two possible mounting positions of said mortice-type lock (11) in said housing (14).
  3. An adapter according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that said housing comprises a mounting base (20) and a cover (21) in which said through-holes are provided.
  4. An adapter according to claim 3, characterised in that said mounting base comprises a part forming a forend (48) intended to be secured to the edge of said door.
  5. An adapter according to claim 3 or 4, characterised in that said base (20) and said cover (21) each comprise two through-holes, which are of a size, are positioned and adapted to allow the passage of said drive spindle and of said cylinder.
  6. An adapter according to claim 5, characterised in that it is completed by an aforesaid plate (15) forming a handle support, known per se, for example for a handle (16) of the lever type.
  7. An adapter according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that it further comprises a striking plate comprising a reversible plate (78) in which are provided openings (82a,82b) adapted for the passage of the bolt and latch, and situated at predetermined locations, corresponding respectively to the two mounting positions of said lock in the housing.
  8. An adapter according to claim 7, characterised in that said striking plate further comprises a base (66) intended to be surface-mounted on the door frame, and a cover (72), said reversible plate being secured to lugs (74) of said base.
  9. An adapter according to claim 4, characterised in that said base comprises lugs (45) for the fastening of the forend (11a) of said lock, these lugs being offset from the front surface of said part (48) forming the forend.
