Abstract

The steel slide strip (10) extends over the whole width (B) of the web (7); has a convex cross-section, and a surface (11) coming into contact with the moving web. Near the side strip is at least one driven guide roller (12) for the web and which produces sufficient speed to form an aerodynamic lubricating wedge effect. The surface of the strip has a coating of hard metal or ceramic and is polished. An oblique blast drying unit (9) is positioned near the slide strip. A wiper unit (8) shapes the web. An air inlet (13) is near the edges of the web.
