Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a machine for sorting of solid objects including a horizontal or slightly inclined rotating drum traversed longitudinally by the objects to be sorted and whose wall is riddled with calibrated sorting holes, in which the drum is made, in the sense longitudinal, of different sections, the caliber of sorting holes increasing from section to section in the direction of progression of the objects to be sorted.
  • the invention aims more particularly a machine for sorting machines mill forming the grinding charge of a mill horizontal, such as those used in cement works or in the mining industry to grind and crush minerals.
  • This sorting operation is not possible frequently, that if it can be done quickly, without causing an increase in the duration of stops normal of the crusher.
  • the machine described in document BE-834187 includes basically two cylinders slightly tilted by compared to the horizontal which define between them a sorting slot whose width increases from side to side the other. These two cylinders rotate in opposite directions, each outward. The grinding machines are dumped into the sorting slot on the width side minimum of this. The machines progress under the effect of rotation and tilting cylinders and fall through the slot in different recovery hopper as soon as the width of the slot exceeds the minimum section of a machine to sort.
  • This machine allows good sorting provided that the grinding machines progress in strings one by one along the cylinders. Under these conditions, the flow of triage is however very weak.
  • sorting holes generally corresponds to that of grinding machines.
  • the drum is preferably inclined upwards in the direction of progression. Gradually as the sorting machines advance through the drum and find a passage larger than their section minimal, they cross this sorting hole to fall in a recovery hopper placed below the drum.
  • This machine suffers from the handicap that machines to sort easily get stuck in the holes of sorting that clogs in this way, which, not only reduces the sorting area, therefore the flow, but, moreover, decreases the sorting accuracy, because the sorting machines are progressing too quickly towards the exit seen that the holes in their size are blocked.
  • the object of the present invention is to provide a advanced sorting machine which does not have the disadvantages mentioned above, in other words, a machine which has good sorting accuracy and which operates at a high sorting rate.
  • the invention proposes a sorting machine of the kind defined in the preamble which is characterized in that each section has a frustoconical wall converging in the direction of progression of objects and in that the sorting holes are shaped like slits widening in the direction of progression through the drum.
  • sorting slots widen in exit direction not only helps to determine the range of dimensions to be sorted but, and above all, avoid blocking objects in the holes of triage and, therefore, an obstruction thereof.
  • the drum is advantageously a modular drum each section of which is a fixed independent unit, removably, to the adjacent section.
  • Each section can include at each of its ends an annular flange to be bolted to the adjacent flange of the neighboring section.
  • At least the two external flanges at the entrance and at the outlet of the drum can be designed as support and rolling surface and be carried by support and rolling rollers.
  • the walls sorting holes are bevelled and diverge from inside to outside in the direction of passage of objects through the sorting holes.
  • These sorting holes are preferably inclined by relation to the direction of progression.
  • guide plates are fixed to the interior of each section, roughly perpendicular to the wall and describing a spiral at an angle which varies with the diameter of the bodies to sort in order to guide the objects in the direction of their progression.
  • the machine also has a hopper of compartmentalized spill spanning the entire length of the drum below it.
  • the sorting drum shown in Figures 1 and 4 and designated as a whole by the reference 10 consists of different, in this case, five sections 10a, 10b, 10c, 10d and 10e, linked together to the others and axially traversed by the machines to sort.
  • the drum is in principle arranged horizontally but, depending on the operating conditions, could be tilted slightly to one side or other.
  • Each section has a frustoconical wall converging in the direction of progression of the machines to sort, these being introduced in section 10a to using a suitable feeding device 12 (see Figure 4) for example a vibrating corridor.
  • Each tapered section may have, on the side upstream and on the downstream side, an annular flange 14 respectively 16 by which the section is bolted to the adjacent section.
  • the different sections can thus be replaced individually or even be interchanged.
  • the drum 10 rests at its ends on rollers 18 and 20 and is rotated around its longitudinal axis by a motor not shown at variable speed. This speed can be adapted to sorting conditions in order to have an influence on the accuracy and sorting throughput.
  • the drum 10 can be located inside a frame 22 (see Figure 4) which can be closed to reduce noise emissions and allow creation of a dust collection system.
  • a spill hopper compartmentalized 24 comprising a number of compartments corresponding to the number of sections.
  • the walls of the different frustoconical sections 10a, 10b, 10c, 10d and 10e are riddled with holes 26 graded grading.
  • the sorting holes were only shown on the Figures 1 and 4 as on the last section 10e.
  • the holes of the same section preferably have all the same shape and same surface.
  • the surface sorting holes 26 increases from section to section the other, this in the direction of progression of the load sorting.
  • the sorting holes 26 have the shape of an elongated slot whose longitudinal axis is inclined relative to the axis A of the drum and with respect to a diametral plane of this one.
  • each sorting hole is, moreover, in the form of a droplet, that is to say as the width of the sorting holes increases in the direction of progression of the load to be sorted.
  • the opposite ends of the sorting holes 26 are, of preferably rounded.
  • the walls defining the holes 26 are not perpendicular to the surface but, as shown in the Figure 3, slightly oblique, diverging from the inside of the drum to the outside. Thanks to that form we are sure that the sorting machines do not stay stuck in holes 26 once the edge inside the holes 26 allows the passage of gear.
  • each section are arranged guide plates 28 (see Figures 1 and 4). These sheets 28 whose height is a function of the size of the machines to be sorted are inclined in a spiral in order to favor and to control the progress of the load during the drum rotation. These sheets 28 therefore have a large influence on the sorting accuracy as well as on the machine performance.
  • the inclination of the sheets of guide 28 preferably corresponds to that of the holes 26 sorting so that these are hidden the least possible by sheets 28.
  • the first section 10a which receives the charge at sort by the feeder 12 is in principle a supply compartment and load distribution.
  • the second section can used to remove gear that has become too small and not usable afterwards, as well as foreign bodies and the residues of the material to be ground brought by the charge. However, it is possible that all of these functions can be accomplished by the first section 10a.
  • the following sections perform the triage proper grinding machines by classes of dimensions and in ascending order from the entrance to the exit. Assuming the caliber of all sorting 26 gradually increases sections 10c, 10d and 10th it is possible to sort four different calibers grinding machines, namely the three sorted grades respectively by sections 10c, 10d and 10e, as well than the large calibers leaving the machine through the exit.
  • the rows of holes can be staggered relative to each other, which increases the number of holes and the sorting area.
