Definitions
- the invention relates to the installation of equipment in the wall of a waterproof cell used for work in high activity atmosphere for example for transfer waste or small tools irradiated through the wall, and in particular the establishment of a watertight crossing. This installation must be possible after commissioning of the cell, i.e. when the interior of the cell is already contaminated.
- the cell has a wall inner, called “skin", made of stainless steel sheet. She has the function of confining the contaminated atmosphere of the cell and also to prevent outside air from entering it.
- the technical problem which then arises is obtaining a very high level sealing between the installed equipment in the wall with the cell wall and in particular the skin.
- the object of the invention is therefore to remedy this disadvantage by proposing another installation method of a waterproof crossing in the wall of a cell in which are carried out work with a high degree of contamination.
- Ventilation from outside to inside of the cell is applied to the crossing to overcome possible leakage of contaminated air from the interior to outside the cell.
- it includes a first seal placed in a groove on the outer surface of the guide tube and being in abutment against the internal surface of the sheath.
- Figure 1 shows a cross section of the wall a cell whose interior is referenced 1 and the exterior is referenced 2.
- the waterproof crossing according to the invention, is therefore placed so as to cross this wall 3.
- a skin 4 covers the internal surface of the wall 3, on the side of inside 1 of the cell.
- This skin 4 is a sheet of stainless steel covering the inner wall of the cell for high efficiency sealing.
- sealing bell 5 is fixed on the skin 4 opposite the passage. This sealing bell 5 is placed before, when developing a passage through the wall 3 and the skin 4 of the cell, inside of it. She is fixed on the skin 4 opposite a passage.
- the first main operation of the process according to the invention is the installation of a shaped sheath 6 tubular in the passage.
- this passage has a inner diameter equal to the outer diameter of the sleeve 6.
- the hole in which this sheath 6 is placed is widened by side of the outside 2 of the cell to be able to place there, around the sheath 6, biological protection 7 necessary for nuclear installations and consisting of balls of lead.
- the sheath 6 On the interior side 1 of the cell, the sheath 6 is placed in abutment on the surface of the skin 4 which is facing wall 3.
- the sleeve 6 On the exterior side 2 of the cell, the sleeve 6 is welded to a base plate 9 placed against the external face 8 of the wall 3. This base plate 9 allows also contain biological protection 7. It is moreover provided with two access holes 19 for the balls lead.
- the sleeve 6 therefore makes it possible to provide a passage cylindrical through the wall 3 of the cell. We add that is better to perfectly adjust the perpendicularity of this sleeve 6 relative to the base plate 9 placed against the wall 3.
- the mounting of the base plate 9 is done after the complete positioning and perpendicular adjustment of the sleeve 6 in the wall 3.
- a fourth essential step in the process according to the invention consists in mounting in the sheath 6 a guide tube 11 whose outside diameter is slightly less than the inner diameter of the sleeve 6.
- a flange 12 of annular shape and placed inside the sheath 6, but outside of this guide tube 11. It therefore ensures concentricity between these two elements tubes that are the sleeve 6 and the guide tube 11. It is then welded to the latter and also fixed to the base plate 9, for example by means of screws 14.
- the guide tube 11 On the interior side 1 of the cell, the guide tube 11 carries a double crossing door waterproof 13 which has the subsequent function of allowing the passage of material from inside 1 of the cell to inside the guide tube 11.
- This double door 13 is introduced at the same time as the guide tube 11, because it is mounted on the latter beforehand.
- FIG. 2 shows the assembly of this double door 13 on the guide tube 11 by a thread 16 and a sealing weld 16A.
- This double door is load-bearing a central tube 20 intended to ensure the transfer of materials or small containers.
- the process continues with the removal of the sealing bell 5 which remains inside 1 of the cell. It is dismantled by a remote manipulator placed at inside 1 of the cell.
- the next step is to mount a crown seal holder 15 from inside the cell 1 by remote handling on the outside diameter of the end inside of the guide tube 11 located inside the cell.
- the function of this seal carrier ring 15 is sealing between the interior 1 of the cell and the annular space 17 subsisting between the sheath 6 and the guide tube 11.
- Figure 2 also shows in detail the assembly of such a seal carrier ring 15.
- This seal carrier ring 15 is made by means of several captive nuts 18 actuated by a remote manipulator from inside the cell 1.
- first seal 21 On the outside diameter of the guide tube 11, is placed a first seal 21 in a groove thereof. This first seal 21 seals between the guide tube 11 and the sleeve 6.
- a second seal 22 is placed just outside of the skin 4, opposite the seal carrier crown 15. It seals between the skin 4 and the guide tube 11, that is to say between the interior 1 of the cell and the space 28 located between the skin 4 and the internal face of the existing wall 3 between the guide tube 11 and the sleeve 6.
- This second seal 22 is completed with a third seal 23 placed in a groove lying on the internal diameter of the crown seal holder 15 and being supported on the external diameter of the guide tube 11.
- Locking the captive nuts 18 ensures the sealing of the crown 15 with the guide tube 11, while that the pulling carried out to press the crown metallic 15 on the skin of the cell makes it possible to obtain, when the metal contact is made, the crushing of the seal 22 with a force which ensures sealing.
- the whole watertight bushing according to the invention is held in place by means of support screws 24 and clamping screws 14.
- a tool is used for this purpose traction (not shown) composed mainly a hydraulic cylinder bearing both on the plate base 9 and on the support flange 12. Indeed, by pulling the latter towards the outside 2 of the cell, the screws support 24 can be clamped in the support flange 12 to come to rest against the base plate 9, so that hold in place the entire watertight bushing and compress the second joint as much as possible 22. Once the adequate tightening, tightening screws 14 are tight in base plate 9 and the entire bushing waterproof is then fixed.
- the pulling tool can then be disassembled.
- the second seal 22 can be glued and that its material can be that referenced 7EP42 (nuclear).
- the maximum crushing effort for this type of joint is 1,500 daN.
- the effectiveness of the assembly can be the test by a test. Indeed, in order to ensure the good tightness of the assembled assembly (guide tube, container, seal ring), two tubes 26A and 26B are placed at inside the annular space between the sleeve 6 and the guide tube 11 and are connected to the outside. The 26B tube is located directly behind the flange 12.
- the test consists of fill the trapped space through the tube 26B by the guide tube and the seal carrier ring 15 of a gas neutral (nitrogen, argon ...) at a certain pressure and check thanks to a pressure gauge mounted at the end of the outlet side of tube 26A if the pressure drops after a while defined before.
