Abstract
Description
Parapluie
D'autres avantages de l'invention ressortiront de la description qui suit, donnée à titre d'exemple, et qui se réfère au dessin annexé sur lequel: - la figure 1 est une vue en coupe axiale d'un exemple schématique de parapluie selon l'invention en position ouverte; -. la figure 2 est une coupe de détail du parapluie de la figure 1 montrant le mode de coopération entre l'extrémité supérieure du coulisseau et l'extrémité des baleines pour le maintien des baleines en position déployée; - la figure 3 est une coupe selon I-I d'une baleine du parapluie de la figure 1; - la figure 4 est une coupe selon II-II d'une baleine du parapluie de la figure 1; - la figure 5 est une vue en coupe selon III-III de la baleine de la figure 2; - la figure 6 est une vue de détail depuis dessous de l'extrémité de la baleine agencée pour coopérer avec le coulisseau;
; - la figure 7 est une vue schématique de détail d'un exemple de dispositif de verrouillage du coulisseau en position d'ouverture du parapluie; - la figure 8 est une vue schématique de détail d'un exemple de dispositif de verrouillage du coulisseau en position de fermeture du parapluie.
Umbrella
The present invention relates to an umbrella comprising a mast, one end of which serves as a handle, while the other end constitutes an end piece on which radial ribs are articulated, and a slider mounted in axial sliding along the mast between an open position in which it comes into abutment against said ribs keeping them in the deployed position and a closed position in which the ribs can fold up against the mast.
Umbrellas of the conventional type involve a multiplicity of components which require considerable labor for their assembly and which make their cost price relatively high.
An umbrella with a simplified structure, in particular by eliminating the elements in the form of a buttress, one of the ends of which is articulated in the central region of the corresponding ribs, is described in document WO-A90/11702. This umbrella, of the type comprising a slider such as that described in the preamble, comprises disconnectable locking means comprising a conformation of the slider arranged so as to cooperate with a conformation of the ribs to ensure, in the deployed position of the umbrella, both locking ribs in the deployed position and temporary locking, in the axial position, of the slider.
However, the design of these blocking means is complex and requires great precision of execution in order to obtain sufficient deployment of the ribs. When the umbrella is made of plastic material, a solid deployment of the ribs so as to properly stretch the fabric of the umbrella is almost impossible to obtain. In addition, because of their conformation, the means for blocking the ribs in the deployed position are easily separated and the umbrella sags at the slightest gust of wind.
The object of the present invention is to propose an umbrella with a simplified structure making it possible to remedy the drawbacks of the umbrella with a simplified structure described in the document WO-A-90/11702.
To this end, the invention relates to an umbrella comprising a mast, one end of which serves as a handle, while the other end constitutes an end piece on which radial ribs are articulated, and a slider mounted in axial sliding along the mast between a open position in which it comes into abutment against said ribs keeping them in the deployed position and a closed position in which the ribs can fold up against the mast, as defined in claim 1.
The umbrella according to the invention can advantageously be made entirely of plastic material.
Other advantages of the invention will emerge from the description which follows, given by way of example, and which refers to the appended drawing in which: - FIG. 1 is a view in axial section of a schematic example of an umbrella according to the invention in the open position; -. Figure 2 is a detail section of the umbrella of Figure 1 showing the mode of cooperation between the upper end of the slider and the end of the ribs for maintaining the ribs in the deployed position; - Figure 3 is a section along I-I of a rib of the umbrella of Figure 1; - Figure 4 is a section along II-II of a rib of the umbrella of Figure 1; - Figure 5 is a sectional view along III-III of the whale of Figure 2; - Figure 6 is a detail view from below of the end of the whale arranged to cooperate with the slider;
; - Figure 7 is a schematic detail view of an example of a device for locking the slider in the open position of the umbrella; - Figure 8 is a schematic detail view of an example of a device for locking the slider in the closed position of the umbrella.
The umbrella represented in FIG. 1 comprises a mast 1 terminating at its lower part in a handle 2 and a plurality of ribs 3 (for example eight) intended for the deployment of the fabric of the umbrella. A slider 4 is mounted along the mast 1 so as to be able to slide axially along the mast between a closed position in which the ribs can be folded against the mast, and an open position (as represented in FIGS. 1 and 2) in which it abuts against the ribs, so as to maintain them in the deployed position.
The slider 4 comprises a lower part 41 of tubular shape, of internal diameter substantially equal to the external diameter of the mast 1, surmounted by a second part 42 of frustoconical shape opening upwards, of thickness substantially equal to that of the lower and whose smallest diameter is equal to the diameter of the first part. The second part is itself surmounted by a third part 43 constituting in its lower zone a flare 44 projecting outwardly with respect to the outer surface of the second part 42 and comprising an upper zone whose outer diameter decreases towards the top, so as to form a frustoconical rim 46 intended to cooperate with the whales 3 for their deployment as will be described later.
The inside diameter of the third part 43 can be constant over its entire height, as shown in Figure 2, equal to the inside diameter of the upper end of the second part 42. But of course, the third part 43 can also be made with a variable inside diameter, the slide then having a substantially constant thickness over its entire height. The slider may consist of a single molded piece.
Maintaining the slider in the open position is effected by means of a flexible locking member 5 acting at the lower end of the slider. As shown in Figure 7, this member 5 has at its lower end a tab 51 secured to the pole 1 of the umbrella and at its upper end a bearing rim 52 intended to block the slider 4 in the open position of the umbrella. In order to unlock the slider, it suffices to press with the thumb in the direction of the arrow F1 on the front part 53 of the member 5 which then flexes in the area of the tongue 51.
The ribs can be made in pairs of ribs 3, 3', each of the ribs of a pair being connected by a central circular element 37 via a portion of reduced thickness 33 forming an elastic hinge. Each pair of ribs can be made in a single piece of molded plastic material.
The hat-shaped upper part 6 arranged at the end of the mast 1, as well as the fixing of the hat and of the central part 37 of each pair of ribs on the mast can be carried out, as regards their principle, in the manner described in WO-A-90/11702. For this purpose, the central element 37 has a central bore, intended to snap onto a cylindrical portion arranged at the upper end of the mast and onto which the cap part 6 also snaps.
Each of the ribs 3 has in section (FIGS. 3 and 4) a T-shape, comprising a flat upper main part 32 and a reinforcing part 31 whose end 35 located on the side of the hinge 33 of the rib preferably has a convex shape, intended to cooperate with the slider 4 for the deployment of whales. As can be seen in Figures 2, 5 and 6, in the zone 36 of the end of the reinforcing part 31 located on the side of the hinge 33 of the rib, the reinforcement gradually thickens from the top and towards its extremity, so as to increase its rigidity.
The deployment of the whales is obtained by the cooperation of the frustoconical rim 46 of the upper part of the slider 4 with the end 35 of the reinforcing part of each of the whales. The combination of the frustoconical conformation 46 of the upper part of the slider and of the end part 35 of the reinforcing parts of the ribs implies that the more the slider is pushed upwards, the more the ribs deploy and consequently the more the canvas stretches.
As shown in Figure 1, the height of the reinforcing part 31 gradually decreases by two thirds of its height along the first third of the length of the rib (counted from the articulated end of the rib) then remains almost constant over the rest of the length of the whale.
This conformation, involving greater flexibility of the ribs at their peripheral ends, necessarily results in an arching or bending of the rib when the fabric, which is fixed on the one hand to the center of the umbrella inside the hat 6 and elsewhere at the peripheral end 34 of each whale, is tensioned. The result is a stretched shape almost equal to that of a conventional umbrella, without the risk of the umbrella collapsing. The fixing of the fabric to the end of the whales can be carried out for example by welding or gluing.
The shape of the slider, in particular the large internal diameter of the upper part of the slider in combination with the rounding of the upper edge of the slider, allows easy storage of the ends of the ribs and the fabric of the umbrella inside the slider when the ribs were arranged in a folded position along the mast.
Maintaining the slider in the closed position is ensured by a flexible locking member 7 acting at the lower end of the slider. As shown in Figure 8, this member 7 has at its upper end a tab 71 secured to the pole 1 of the umbrella and a main part 72 constituting an upper rim 73 on the outer part of which abuts the lower end of the slider. Thanks to the conformation of the member 7 and its positioning in the rest state with respect to the lower end of the slider 4, the unlocking of the slider is effected by a simple pull of the slider downwards in the direction of the arrow F2, which suffices to cause the member 7 to bend as shown in dashed lines in FIG. 8.
In order to avoid any retention of water inside the cap 6 of the umbrella when the umbrella has been closed and it is carried vertically in suspension by its handle, one or more holes can be made in the cap.
As shown in Figure 1, the cap 6 may have a lower part 62 of frustoconical outer shape with rounded lower edges and an upper part 61 of cylindrical shape. The upper part 61 can be made in the form of a storage compartment and be provided with an upper closing cap. In this case, the water evacuation holes will be made in the upper part of the tapered part 62.
The mast (1) can be made of tubular shape or so as to have an S-shaped section, similar to that proposed in document WO-A-90/11702, and made of extruded or injected plastic material.
