Definitions
- the present invention relates to the general technical field of structures heating plates, of the sandwich type, intended to assume a function of high heating commonly exceeding 180 ° Celsius.
- the present invention relates to a heating structure, in particular for household appliances, made in a limited sandwich structure externally by at least one heating plate and comprising a heater including at least one flat resistive element embedded in a first layer of thermoplastic resin sandwiched between two sheets of insulation electric each adhering to the first layer of thermoplastic resin, the heating unit being linked to the heating plate by at least a second layer of thermoplastic resin.
- Such a heating structure forms a flat heating element described in the French patent application FR 92.00970 in the name of the same applicant.
- Such a heating structure is more particularly, but not exclusively, intended to constitute the heating element of an iron whether it is steam or dry, and to ensure the priority function of heating for ironing, and possible secondary function of steam generation.
- These elements heaters can also be applied without limitation to any household appliance requiring the supply of thermal energy, such as fryers, broilers of all kinds, space heaters radiant or convection panel, or to steam generators stand-alone or linked to irons or kettles or even electric coffee makers.
- the heating structure is advantageously integrated in an iron of the steam or dry type, and the present invention also relates to directly an iron provided with such a heating structure.
- the heating structure has been found to perform satisfactorily the function of which has been assigned to it, without being able to note, contrary to what one could have expected, a deterioration in the behavior of the different layers constituting the sandwich structure, despite the high temperatures of operating, commonly exceeding 180 ° Celsius.
- thermoplastic resins provides many advantages, especially in terms of manufacturing, dissipation thermal, and protection of the resistive element, despite the problems that one might have expected to encounter high operating temperature in due to the reversibility of state of thermoplastic resins subjected to such operating temperatures.
- the flat heating elements designed according to this principle give accordingly overall satisfaction, but it appeared that in operation, such heating elements could lead to the generation of a leakage current from the sandwich structure of the heating element. Indeed, the thicknesses of the leaves of electrical insulation are sufficiently weak and can lead when the heating element is supplied, upon generation of an electric field in the non-conductive space between the conductive surfaces formed by the resistive element and the heating plates. In such a case, the heating element flat is assimilated to a capacitor providing a leakage current. The generation even a small leakage current must be avoided and the current must way to be kept below a value allowed by the standards accepted in the technical area under consideration.
- the object of the present invention therefore aims to remedy the problems mentioned above, and to provide a high heating structure sandwich structure temperature in which the electrical tightness is improved in order to reduce or even completely eliminate the generation of a leakage current in said heating structure.
- Another object of the invention is to provide a heating structure whose thermal transmission is improved and cost reduced, while retaining good resistance over time of the heating structure.
- Figure 1 shows in a cross section a preferred example of heating structure according to the invention.
- the heating structure 1 according to the invention and shown in FIG. 1 is of the type high temperature and produced according to a sandwich structure made up of stacking a plurality of layers externally bounded by two elements heat diffusers respectively forming a bottom plate 2 and a plate superior 3.
- the temperatures commonly reached in such a structure exceed 180 ° C or 200 ° C and preferably even are close to 300 ° C.
- the plates 2, 3 can be made of any rigid or flexible material used commonly to assume a heat diffusion function, such as steel stainless steel, mild steel, ceramic, vitrocrystalline materials and glass by example, as well as aluminum, this latter material being particularly advantageous when the heating structure is used in an iron iron.
- the plates 2, 3 can also be made of the same material or on the contrary in two distinct materials according to the envisaged applications, and be of equal thickness or not.
- the plate 2 forms the ironing soleplate while plate 3 forms the bottom of the vaporization.
- the heating structure comprises a heating unit produced in the form of a substantially flat resistive element 4, consisting of one or more tracks extending in the same plane along a defined path forming a series of loops or laces between the two plates 2, 3.
- the resistive element 4 and the loops it comprises extend in the longitudinal plane of symmetry P of the structure heating 1.
- the resistive element 4 can be made of all commonly used materials used as a heating track such as nickel-chrome alloys or else preferably based on constantan.
- the thickness and length of the element resistive 4 vary according to the desired electrical power.
- its thickness (I) is 50 ⁇ m and may vary between 20 to 100 ⁇ m for example; her width (L) is 1mm and may vary between 0.5mm and 3mm.
- the production of the heating structure is completed by the insertion of the element resistive 4 in a first layer of thermoplastic resin 5, covering at minus the upper and lower parts of the resistive element 4.
- the resistive element 4 is provided with an electrical insulating coating consisting an upper sheet 6a and a lower sheet 6b adhering respectively to each of the faces of the first layer of thermoplastic resin 5 and delimiting accordingly the heating unit.
- the material used as an insulating coating electric can of course be chosen from all conventional components used to date by those skilled in the art, depending on the thermal constraints of the heating structure.
- an electrical insulating material chosen from resins thermosetting, and preferably from polyimide resins or resins silicones.
- all of the electrical insulating sheets 6a, 6b are made of the same material.
- the connecting means ensuring adhesion between on the one hand each of the faces respective opposites, 2b, 3a, lower and upper plates 2,3 and other share the upper and lower faces of the electrical insulation sheets 6a, 6b, has at least one other layer of thermoplastic resin, thereby forming respectively a second layer 7a called upper, and a second layer 7b called lower.
- the invention it is provided to improve the electrical insulation of the structure heating, and reduce leakage currents, to deposit at least one sheet additional electrical insulation 6c between one of the second layers 7a or 7b and one of the sheets of electrical insulation 6a, 6b.
- This additional sheet 6c is associated with an intermediate layer 7c of an adhesive material ensuring the connection between the electrical insulating sheet 6a, 6b and the additional sheet 6c.
- the thickness of the sheets of electrical insulation 6a, 6b, 6c is between 15 ⁇ m and 100 ⁇ m, and preferably equal to 25 ⁇ m.
- the intermediate layer 7c extends from the lower side of the heating structure, i.e. between the element resistive 4 and the heating plate 2 forming the ironing sole.
- the adhesive material of the intermediate layer 7c can be a silicone adhesive, or preferably a thermoplastic resin.
- connections between the plates 2, 3 and the sheets of insulation coating 6a, 6b, 6c are made up of a single layer of resin thermoplastic.
- thermoplastic material used for each of the layers of thermoplastic resin, 7a, 7b, 7c, 5 will preferably have the same composition in each of the layers.
- at least layers 7a, 7b, 7c will be produced in the same material, and preferably also the first layer of resin 5.
- the thickness of the intermediate layer 7c of thermoplastic resin and of the second layer of thermoplastic resin 7a, 7b is between 10 ⁇ m and 100 ⁇ m, and preferably substantially equal to 25 ⁇ m while the first layer of thermoplastic resin 5 is thick between 35 ⁇ m and 150 ⁇ m, and preferably substantially equal to 100 ⁇ m.
- thermoplastic resin obviously depends on the constraints thermal undergone by the heating structure and within the framework of an application specific to household appliances and in particular to irons steam, we will advantageously choose PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy) or PEEK (polyetheretherketone) to make each of the resin layers.
- PFA Perfluoroalkoxy
- PEEK polyetheretherketone
- other thermoplastic materials such as PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) or FEP (Tetrafluoroethylene Héxafluoropropylène - Nomenclature taken from Editions WEKA volume 1) for example.
- thermoplastic resin for example the upper layer 7a.
- the plate lower 2 assumes a specific thermal diffusion function, the rigid element 3 limiting in the upper part the heating structure 1 assuming a function main mechanical stiffening and incidentally thermal diffusion.
- the rigid element 3 rests directly on the upper sheet 6a of coating electrical insulator, and may consist of a series of spaced blades or lamellae between them.
- the coating electrical insulation comprises a layer of fabric 10, preferably glass fabric whose weft is impregnated with layers of thermoplastic resin 5. Insulation electric is obtained by the conjunction of the thermoplastic resin 5 and the fabric.
- the mass of thermoplastic resin is advantageously consisting of three layers of PEEK and a sheet of fabric of glass 10 extending under the resistive element 4.
- the fabric sheet 10 also provides a mechanical spacer function in the heating structure ensuring with the thermoplastic resin good electrical insulation in the event of overheating of the tracks of the resistive element 4.
- the presence of at least one sheet of glass fabric facilitates also obtaining the sandwich structure while avoiding the effects of retraction layers of resin which positively influences the flatness of the final product.
- the thickness of the resin layers 7a, 7b, 7c forming the means of connection with the plates 2,3 is preferably less than that of the fabric sheet 10.
- the heating structure according to the invention can be produced according to the method obtained described in application FR-92.00970 and its counterpart EP-9342028.8, the descriptions of which are considered to be incorporated into the present application.
- the thickness of each of the layers of thermoplastic resin 7a, 7b, 7c will preferably be of the order of about 25 microns, while the natural thickness of the resistive element 4 will be of the order of 50 microns (0.05 mm), the thickness of the sheets electrical insulators being close to 25 microns (0.025 mm).
- the final thickness of the first layer 5 of thermoplastic resin is of the order of 75 ⁇ m, after the stages of assembly and fusion of the three initial layers of resin of a thickness of 25 ⁇ m each.
- the glass fabric layer 10 is between 40 and 100 ⁇ m, and preferably substantially equal to 50 ⁇ m.
- the upper and lower plates 2, 3, as well as the material thermoplastic will be chosen so as to have expansion properties substantially identical thermal so as to maintain a gradient of substantially constant temperature throughout the thickness of the sandwich structure.
- the lower and upper plates 2, 3 will be made of aluminum metal plates, the resistive element 4 being of preferably made of constantan while the three sheets of insulating coating electrical 6a, 6b, 6c will consist of three layers of polyimide.
- the heating structure according to the invention thus presents thanks to the presence advantageous of several layers of thermoplastic resin, on the one hand good heat transfer properties between the different layers, and on the other hand also good resistance to mechanical and thermal shock, while retaining good adhesion properties between the different layers.
- heating structure does not require the use of a heavy and expensive industrial infrastructure, and the cost of such a structure heating can therefore be significantly reduced.
- dielectric properties of the heating structure can be improved and obtained at the lowest cost, by limiting the quantities of thermoplastic materials used to form the first layer of resin 5.
- the heating structure according to the invention, and in particular the iron comprising such a heating structure has sealing properties to the remarkable vapor obtained at a lower cost.
- the heating structure allows besides a good control of the thermal distribution of the soleplate of the iron, whether to standardize it or to create differentiated thermal zones of temperature variable.
- the incorporation of a heating structure in accordance with the invention in the soleplate of a steam iron allows, thanks to the good heat dissipation properties of the heating assembly, to mount the vaporization chamber directly above the upper plate of the sandwich structure. This results in a great simplification of the internal arrangement of the iron positively influencing the cost and ease of manufacture.
- the heating structure according to the invention is incorporated so preferable in a steam type iron, but it is obvious that its assembly can be extended to any type of iron in general, and also to cooking vessels of the fryer type, to appliances ensuring a function of roasting, or to ensure the formation of steam, such as coffee makers or kettles for example.
