Abstract

The are used to make it more difficult to lift a roller shutter from outside a dwelling, and are made up of a flexible strap attached to the shutter roller and by a profile to support the upper slat of the shutter, having a plastic coupling element (2) injected upon the end of the flat surfaced strap (1), having at its lower end two cylindrically shaped, partially cut downwardly half bridges (4), placed against the half bridges (5) practised into the profile (6) downwardly placed, having been internally drilled into said half bridges (4) and (5) orifices into which is inserted a fastener (7) also made of plastic material, which determines the joint between the profile (6) and the strap (1), making up an assembly that prevent slat wear and marking. <IMAGE>

Description

    OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
  • The object of this invention is a security top for roller shutters used to make it more difficult to lift the roller shutter from the outside, thus preventing the access of strangers to the premises, which has, as a specific feature, the manufacture of part of its structure with plastic material in order to avoid marking and wear of the roller slats due to contact with the profile and strap that constitute the security top.
  • The assembly of the elements constituting the top is furthermore optimized through the forming of a plastic part on which are defined the shapes of two of its elements, one of them being a bolt that is configured in the position prior to the coupling together of the parts that make up the security top.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The roller shutter security tops used up to now, such as DE-3606554, forming the basis of the preamble of independent claim 1, are essentially fitted with a flexible strap associated through one of its ends to the tubular axis of the roller shutter through the use of lugs that are fitted into the shaft openings prepared for that purpose and having at its other end a housing inside which a wing of the profile used to support the upper slat of the roller shutter turns freely.
  • The strap is made of extremely flexible metallic material that allows it to be bent when the roller shutter remains wound upon its tubular shaft.
  • Whenever the roller shutter is fully unwound the upper slat of the shutter remains attached to the tubular shaft through the strap. In this situation, whenever an attempt is made to lift the shutter from the outside by lifting its lower slat, the upper slat effects a pushing force against the profile, which determines in its upward displacement the curving of th strap in the same direction, preventing the shutter slats from moving towards the roller, avoiding their winding movement and, consequently, making it impossible for the roller shutter to be lifted.
  • The use of metallic profiles and straps determines that, on winding a roller shutter with slats made of plastic or metallic material, said slats are marked upon entering in contact with the profile and the strap, causing the slats to suffer marking and wear.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • This invention consists of a roller shutter security top whose objective is to prevent the wear of the slats through the adoption of a profile made of plastic material attachable to the coupling plastic element injected upon the strap, both pieces being configured in such a way that they may be joined together by a bolt moulded at the side of the profile.
  • The coupling element consists of a flat surface injected upon an end portion of the flexible strap end, said coupling element having two cylindrical partially-slotted sleeves to be placed against slotted sleeves of a lower profile and through which a bolt is introduced to join the strap and lower profile together.
  • The lower profile has the same side section as that employed in other models, which allows the upper slat to be supported as well as its turning movement, being partially slotted to reduce weight and upwardly fitted with partially slotted sleeves, as previously described.
  • Advantageously, the lower profile is injection-moulded together with the bolt located at the side of and in line with the boreholes of the profile sleeves, so that once the lower profile and the strap coupling are fitted together by confronting the slotted sleeves of both parts, it is only necessary to knock on the end of the bolt, loosening it from the profile and introducing it through the sleeves of both parts.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • In order to complement the description being effected and with the purpose of aiding a better and easier understanding of the features of the invention, this patent specification is accompanied, as integral part thereof, of a set of drawings where, with an illustrative but never limitative character, the following has been duly representes:
  • Figure 1. Represents a frontal view of the strap and profile coupling element.
  • Figure 2. Represents a frontal view of the profile-bolt piece.
  • Figure 3. Represents a view of the roller shutter security top.
  • PREFERRED EXECUTION OF THE INVENTION
  • As may be observed in the figures, the roller shutter security top consists of a strap (1) with a plastic coupling element (2) injected thereupon, which is then attached to a lower plastic profile (6) by means of a bolt (7), said profile (6) being the element from which the upper shutter slat hangs, thus achieving an assembly that does not mark or damage the slats which enter in contact with the profile when the shutter is rolled up.
  • The plastic coupling element (2) consists of a flat surface (3) that has on its lower side two cylindrical partially-slotted sleeves (4) which are placed against also slotted sleeves (5) of the lower profile (6) and a plastic bolt (7) is passed through said slotted sleeves.
  • The lower profile (6) and bolt (7) are injection-moulded in one piece wherein the bolt is located at the side of and in line with the borehole of the sleeves (5), so that, once the slotted sleeves (4, 5) of the coupling element (2) and the lower profile (6) have been fitted together, the bolt is knocked off the piece and pushed through the sleeves.

Claims (2)

  1. Roller shutter security top of the type used to prevent shutters being lifted from outside a dwelling, fundamentally made up of a flexible strap (1) associated to the roller of a shutter and a lower profile (6) to support an upper slat of the shutter, characterized in that it includes a plastic coupling element (2) injected upon an end portion of the flexible strap (1), with two cylindrical partially-slotted sleeves (4), to be located against slotted sleeves (5) of the lower profile (6), and a plastic bolt (7) to be passed through boreholes of said slotted sleeves (4, 5) to join the lower profile (6) and the set of flexible strap (1) and coupling element (2), constituting an assembly that prevents slat wear and marking.
  2. Roller shutter security top according to claim 1, characterized in that the lower profile (6) and the bolt (7) are injection-moulded in a single piece, wherein the bolt is located at the side of and in line with the borehole of the slotted sleeves (5), in such a way that, once the slotted sleeves (4) of the coupling element (2) have been fitted to the slotted sleeves (5) of the lower profile (6), the bolt is detached from the single piece and pushed through said slotted sleeves (4, 5).
