Definitions
- the present invention relates to a glove for high protection intended to protect the hand mainly against the risk of cutting, but also against the risk of burns, abrasion or perforation, as well as a method of manufacturing a such a glove.
- Prior Art offers gloves made up by blocked knitwear with high resistance to the cut.
- polyester fibers polyethylene fibers "high modulus and high tenacity" (DYNEEMA® fibers marketed by SDM), the fibers of polyamide, aramid fibers and in particular para-aramids such as KEVLAR® fibers which constitute a material particularly suitable for the realization of such gloves due to their high resistance to break.
- DYNEEMA® fibers marketed by SDM
- para-aramids such as KEVLAR® fibers which constitute a material particularly suitable for the realization of such gloves due to their high resistance to break.
- KEVLAR® blocked fiber knits are also used for the production of mittens and high protection gloves against heat or fire because these fibers also exhibit good performance thermal.
- the outside of these gloves is usually coated with an elastomer or material plastic.
- This coating is carried out by a technique classic quenching which consists of mounting the glove to coat on a mold in the shape of a hand, then dip the whole in several successive baths containing said elastomer or said plastic, the last quenching operation being followed, in the case of a elastomer, from a vulcanization operation.
- the gloves thus produced retain the elastic properties of the textile which constitutes and can in particular be mounted without difficulty on quenching forms, only areas can be covered with textile inextensible, which has the effect of limiting the surface hands really protected during handling sharp or sharp objects. So the face anterior of the fingers is generally not protected when it is a part of the hand particularly exposed to the risk of cuts. Moreover, the extra thicknesses constituted by the added parts in high protection textiles prove to be troublesome, even injurious to use.
- the American patent n ° 4,752,578 describes a natural rubber surgical glove or synthetic to prevent possible penetration the tip of a tapered object such as a needle or surgical instrument, and on the palmar side of which is attached by gluing a piece of material puncture resistant and very thin such as high density nylon yarn fabric.
- This glove if it provides protection against bite risks to which are mainly exposed surgeons during operative procedures, is not at all capable of effectively protecting against risks of cutting inherent in the handling of products, cutting or sharp tools or apparatus, nor even against the risk of burns or abrasion.
- the American patent n ° 1,725,065 proposes to cover the entire palmar surface and a part of the dorsal side of a textile glove waterproof material such as rubber but this provision is intended to protect the glove against risks of soiling and not, hands against the risks of injury.
- the purpose of the invention is, in a way general, to provide a high protection glove mainly against the risk of cuts which does not have the disadvantages of known gloves mentioned above.
- the Applicant has indeed set a goal provide a glove to protect very effectively the areas of the hand exposed to risks accident and in particular the risk of cutting during the handling sharp or sharp objects without the quality of this protection does not interfere with the properties of the hand so that the user can perform with this glove all gestures, even the finer and more delicate, in the best comfort and safety conditions.
- the Applicant has also set itself the goal of provide such a glove with a moderate cost price allows its wide distribution.
- a high protection glove in which the entire face of the glove intended to cover the palm of the hand - or palm side - includes a high cut resistance material while the most of the glove face intended to cover the back of the hand - or back side - includes a textile elastic of natural organic fibers or synthetic.
- the high strength material at the cut is a knit of para-aramid fibers.
- the elastic textile is a knitted fiber cotton.
- the glove has a wrist or cuff of which at least the side intended to cover the anterior side of the wrist or forearm includes the high material cut resistance while the side intended for cover the back of the wrist or forearm includes elastic textile.
- the glove has a wrist or a cuff comprising a textile of natural fibers or synthetic fibers such as elastic knit cotton or a rigid fabric of para-aramid fibers, which is united, by sewing or any other means, proximal ends of the palmar and dorsal faces of said glove.
- the glove comprises in besides one or more pieces of high material cut resistance reported by sewing or all other means on its palmar side and / or its dorsal side.
- the glove includes all or part of its outer surface a coating of an elastomer or a plastic material.
- the elastomer is a carboxylated nitrile rubber.
- the invention also relates to a process manufacturing a high protection glove which is characterized in that it comprises assembly, by sewing or any other means, edges of a first part intended to cover all the palm force of the hand and previously made or cut in a high cut resistance material and a second piece to cover most of the back by hand and previously made or cut in an elastic textile of natural organic fibers or synthetic.
- the latter includes assembly, sewing or all other means, on the free edge of the glove, of a wrist or a cuff previously made or cut in a textile of natural organic fibers or synthetic fibers such as elastic knit cotton or a rigid fabric of para-aramid fibers.
- Figures 1 and 2 schematically show a glove 10 according to the invention, in condition of use on one hand right, and which includes, as shown in Figure 1, a first piece 11 of a material of high resistance to the cut that covers the palm of the hand and, like visible in Figure 2, a second part 12 of a elastic material that covers the back of the hand.
- Parts 11 and 12 are integral with one of the other, for example by seams 15, at the radial and ulnar edges of the hand, on the faces lateral of the fingers, from the tips of the latter as well as at the interdigital commissures.
- High cut resistance material is advantageously a textile (fabric, knitted or non-woven) organic or inorganic fibers having high resistance to cutting or a mixture of such fibers.
- organic fibers resistant to cut off suitable for the implementation of the Invention can cite the fibers conventionally used in Art Previous for the manufacture of high gloves protection such as for example the fibers of polyester, high modulus polyethylene fibers and high toughness ", polyamide fibers, fibers aramids and, among these, para-aramid fibers.
- KEVLAR® type para-aramid fibers represent a material particularly suitable for making a glove in accordance with the invention.
- this one either inextensible or very weakly extensible, or by the nature of the fibers which constitute it, either by their method of assembly.
- the inorganic fibers use metal fibers, carbon fibers or glass.
- Cut resistant material useful for the implementation of the Invention may also consist in a textile of organic fibers reinforced by metallic wires such as for example stainless steel.
- the elastic material constituting the part 12 is advantageously a textile of natural fibers or synthetic materials with sufficient elasticity to compensate for the lack of extensibility of the resistant material at the cut forming the part 11.
- a cotton fiber knit represents a elastic material particularly suitable for putting of the invention insofar as it presents the advantage of being comfortable, hypoallergenic, little flammable and also to be of low cost.
- the glove 10 has a wrist 16, which is advantageously, as shown in Figures 1 and 2, formed of a tubular piece 17 of an elastic textile which is attached to the proximal ends of the pieces 11 and 12 by one or more seams 18 or analogous means.
- wrist 16 facilitates advantageously putting on and maintaining the glove 10 on hand while protecting the wrist and the lower part of the forearm.
- the glove 10 comprises a coating not shown which covers the entire palmar surface 13 of glove 10 and part of the front side of wrist 16, from the tip of the fingers to for example line 19 shown in Figure 1, which covers the most of the dorsal side 14 of the glove 10, of the fingertips to, for example, line 20 shown in Figure 2.
- This coating which can consist of one or several layers of a natural elastomer (polyisoprene) or synthetic (nitrile rubbers, polychloroprene, ...) or a plastic material such as for example polyvinyl chloride (PVC), is intended, as appropriate, to waterproof the glove against certain agents such as oils or to avoid its early wear or deterioration when handling objects presenting roughness. It also avoids wetting cut resistant fibers in contact with water or aqueous products which, apart from being a source discomfort, causes deterioration of properties mechanical of these fibers. It can also confer on the glove a protective function against the risks of perforation and, depending on its nature and surface condition, avoid wet or small objects slide between the user's fingers.
- nitrile carboxylated rubbers (carboxylated copolymers of butadiene and acrylonitrile) have been shown to constitute particularly advantageous coatings due to what they unexpectedly allow to increase considerably the cut resistance level of the glove.
- Figure 3 schematically illustrates a second embodiment of a glove in accordance with the invention, in condition of use on a right hand and seen under its dorsal face 14.
- the part 11 made of a material with high resistance to cutting and forming the palmar face 13 of the glove 10 extends over the dorsal side of the thumb so as to completely cover the latter, from its end to the seam 18 joining the piece 17 which forms the wrist 16 to proximal ends of parts 11 and 12.
- Parts 11 and 12 are therefore integral one on the other at the level of the ulnar edge of the hand, level of the lateral faces and the tips of the fingers at except those of the thumb, at the commissures interdigital, as well as at line 21 shown in its visible part in Figure 3 and which extends from the commissure between the thumb and forefinger up to said seam 18.
- the glove 10 includes a piece of reinforcement 22 of a cut-resistant material identical or different from that which constitutes exhibit 11 and which is added by one or more seams 23 or similar means on the portions of parts 11 and 12 which cover the areas of the hand located palm side and back side respectively between the thumb and the index so as to strengthen the properties protective gloves 10 in these areas.
- the glove 10 includes a coating, not shown, which covers the entire palm side of this glove and part of the anterior side of the wrist 16 and which covers the major part of its dorsal side 14, of the end of the fingers to line 20 shown in Figure 3.
- FIG. 4 schematically shows a third embodiment of a glove 10 according to the invention seen under its dorsal face 14 and in condition of use on a right hand, in which the part 11 which constitutes the palmar face 13 of this glove extends over the dorsal side of the fingers of so as to cover the first phalanx of each finger.
- This embodiment makes it possible to protect from optimally the ends of the fingers which are particularly exposed to the risk of cuts during handling of sharp or sharp objects.
- the parts 11 and 12 extend in the opposite direction to that of the ends of the fingers so as to form a cuff 24 of which the front face 25 consists by the material of high resistance to cutting while that the rear face 26 is formed by the material elastic.
- the cuff 24 ensures effective protection of the anterior surface, and in particular of veins, wrist and forearm against risks cutoff.
- the gloves according to the invention have a faithful shape to the anatomy of the hand, are suitable for marrying thanks to the presence of the part 12 the outline of the hand and, including the finger area, while they allow thanks to the presence of part 11 and, incidentally of one or more reinforcing pieces 22, to protect very effectively the areas of the hand exposed to the risks of cut when handling sharp objects or sharp. It is thus possible to perform using these gloves all kinds of manipulations, including more delicate, in the best conditions of comfort and security.
- these gloves can easily be strung on the quench forms used for coating their external surface, when such coating is required.
- the manufacture of a glove 10 according to the invention includes the assembly on their edges of parts 11 and 12, previously cut to suitable dimensions or made to measure in the appropriate materials, said assembly preferably being carried out on a template reproducing a hand in a size conventionally used in the manufacture of gloves (7, 71/2, 8, 81/2, ...) so that the glove thus shaped perfectly fits the outline of the hand to which it is destined.
- the manufacture of the glove comprises plus the assembly of part 17 intended to form the wrist 16 of the glove with the proximal ends of the parts 11 and 12 and, for the embodiment shown in Figure 3, it further includes the assembly of the remaining free edges of part 11 of so as to close the glove at the side edge internal thumb followed by fixation of the workpiece reinforcement 22.
- the assembly of these different pieces between them is achieved by seams.
- other means such as welding or collages can be used.
- a particularly coagulating solution suitable consists of water with about 10% added acetic acid.
- the invention is by no means limited to the embodiments described and illustrated above which are only given as an example. So, he is possible to replace, in embodiments shown in Figures 1 to 3, the tubular part 17 forming the wrist 16 and made of a textile elastic by a piece suitable for forming a wrist or a cuff and previously made of a textile rigid such as a KEVLAR® fiber canvas for strengthen the wrist and forearm protection.
