Bei der Fertigung des Kraftfahrzeugs, bei jedem Batteriewechsel, aber auch bei Bordnetzstörungen stellt sich das Problem der Synchronisierung der beiden Sender-Empfängereinheiten. Dabei ist eine Einheit im Kraftfahrzeug angeordnet, während die andere mit dem tragbaren mechanischen oder elektronischen Schlüssel verbunden bzw. mit diesem integriert ist. Das Problem stellt sich auch dann, wenn wie allgemein üblich mit einem Wechselcode gearbeitet wird, d.h. mit einem sich ständig ändernden Codesignal. Die Änderungen erfolgen zwar nach einem definierten Bildungsgesetz, doch liegt häufig der Fall vor, bei dem die Änderung nur für das von der tragbaren Einheit ausgesandte Codesignal aufgrund einer spielerischen Betätigung erfolgt. In diesem Fall wird zwar mit einem oder mehreren Fangbereichen gearbeitet, d.h. einer Anzahl von Codesignalen, die sich an das zuletzt empfangene aufgrund des Bildungsgesetzes anschließen, doch kann der gültige Fangbereich überschritten werden. Auch das Nachschieben eines zweiten, kleineren Fangbereichs führt nicht in jedem Fall zum gewünschten Erfolg (vgl. Dieses Verfahren ist nur in Werkstätten anwendbar. In den eingangs genannten Fällen, bei denen beispielsweise eine Unterbrechung des Bordnetzes vorliegt, besteht die Gefahr, daß es dem Fahrzeugbenutzer nicht oder nicht ohne weiteres möglich ist, sein Fahrzeug zu benutzen (vgl. DE 43 02 550 A1). Auch der aus der WO-A-92/15761 bekannte Weg, wonach die Synchronisierbereitschaft über ein Signal hergestellt wird, das über die Diagnoseschnittstelle eingegeben wird, ändert an dieser Situation nichts. Diese Abstimmung soll möglich sein bereits während der Fertigung des Kraftfahrzeugs bzw. dem Ersteinbau der Schließanlage, aber auch jederzeit im Falle einer Unterbrechung des Bordnetzes, bei einer Betriebsstörung und dgl.. Es soll damit möglich sein, bei einer ggf. vorliegenden Asynchronizität die beiden Einheiten wieder in Übereinstimmung zu bringen. Auch soll es möglich sein, mehrere transportable Einheiten und eine feste Einheit miteinander zu synchronisieren. Durch die Erfindung wird bei einer ggf. nicht bestehenden Synchronisierung der beiden Einheiten eine Synchronisierung dann vorgenommen, wenn die Schließanlage den bzw. einen zugehörigen Schlüssel identifiziert. Bei einem mechanischen Schlüssel kann dies dann der Fall sein, wenn die Anlage ordnungsgemäß aufgeschlossen wird. Bei einem elektronischen Schlüssel kann dies mit Hilfe des vorbereitenden Signaldialogs erfolgen, wie er beispielsweise in der nicht vorveröffentlichten deutschen Patentanmeldung P 44 11 435.4 beschrieben ist. Aufgrund der nichtbestehenden Synchronizität ist es dabei nicht möglich, die Schließanlage mit Hilfe des Codesignals, d.h. mittels Fernbedienung zu betätigen. Die Anlage kann aber durch einen/den mechanischen Schlüssel geöffnet werden. Die Einbuße an Bedienungskomfort aber wird aufgehoben durch die Sicherheit, die sich aus der dann vorgenommenen Synchronizität auf ein beliebiges, nicht notwendigerweise einem Bildungsgesetz folgenden maßgeblichen Codesignal ergibt. Dieses Codesignal kann nicht durch den Unberechtigten vorherbestimmt werden. Sofern sich die bei jeder Synchronisation eingestellten Codesignale deutlich und nicht reproduzierbar voneinander unterscheiden, ist damit ein Höchstmaß an Abhörsicherheit erreicht. Wesentlich für die Erfindung ist, daß bei jeder ordnungsgemäßen Benutzung des Kraftfahrzeugs diese Synchronisation vorgenommen wird. Die Synchronisation kann zweistufig vorgenommen werden. So kann beispielsweise bei Betätigen der Schließanlage mit einem mechanischen Schlüssel ein Synchronisation-Bereitschaftssignal erzeugt werden, dem sich beim Betätigen des Zündschlosses wiederum mit demselben mechanischen Schlüssel die eigentliche Synchronisation anschließt. Es ist aber auch möglich, die Synchronisation vorzugsweise bei Verwendung eines elektronischen Schlüssels einstufig vorzunehmen. Dabei kann bei dem Betätigen der Schließanlage bzw. allein beim Betätigen des Zündschlosses mit dem Schlüssel die Synchronisation erfolgen. Letzteres bietet die Möglichkeit, bei jedem Betrieb des Kraftfahrzeugs von neuem eine Synchronisation durchzuführen unabhängig davon, ob die beiden Einheiten bereits miteinander synchronisiert sind. Bei einem mechanischen Schlüssel kann dies durch das ordnungsgemäße öffnen einer Fahrzeugtür und/oder Schließen des Zündstromkreises erfolgen. Bei einem elektronischen Schlüssel, der alternativ oder ergänzend zu einem mechanischen Schlüssel vorgesehen ist, erfolgt die Identifizierung mit Hilfe eines Dialogs zwischen der Schließanlage und dem Schlüssel. Der Dialog findet drahtlos, beispielsweise mit Hilfe einer induktiven Kopplung statt, die dann wirksam ist, wenn der Schlüssel in das Zündschloß eingesteckt ist. Der Schlüssel besitzt hierzu einen Speicher sowie eine Sende- und Empfangseinrichtung, die mit einer entsprechenden Einrichtung der Schließanlage kommuniziert. Es kann dabei auch ein mehrstufiger Dialog stattfinden, d.h. auf eine erste Frage der Schließanlage an den Schlüssel folgt bei "richtiger" Antwort des Schlüssels eine zweite Frage der Schließanlage nach einer zweiten Antwort.
