Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a part horology, in particular an electronic wristwatch, comprising a sealed container provided with a frame plastic material housing time components, said frame being mounted and held in place in a box metallic by fixing means, said container waterproof being closed by a glass and equipped with a rod control sealed on the frame.
  • Wristwatches have already been proposed, the movement, the dial and the hands are encapsulated in a waterproof container, which is then placed in a non-waterproof metallic watch case, having the appearance exterior of a classic construction watch.
  • the box is then provided in two pieces which fit together approximately at the level of the control rod, each of the two pieces having a semicircular notch for the passage of a fixed tubular element which surrounds the rod.
  • patent CH-377,735 describes a container waterproof composed of at least three parts, namely a glass glass, an intermediate piece of material plastic forming a dial and an inner middle and receiving the edge of the glass, and a background in material plastic that attaches to the notch on the inner middle.
  • a container waterproof composed of at least three parts, namely a glass glass, an intermediate piece of material plastic forming a dial and an inner middle and receiving the edge of the glass, and a background in material plastic that attaches to the notch on the inner middle.
  • the container is not waterproof during of its mounting in the metal box, since the rod and its sealing device are not yet in square.
  • the proposed construction is not suitable in the case of an electronic watch, where you have to be able change the battery.
  • the fixing of the container between the two parts of the metal box, more precisely by clamping between the bottom and a part forming a telescope requires low tolerances of manufacturing, which lead to a relatively high cost of the box.
  • the assembly joint at mid-height of the box is unsightly.
  • the present invention relates to a timepiece, in particular an electronic wristwatch, provided with a box metallic that has the general appearance of a box of traditional watch and whose manufacturing costs and are very low.
  • a particular goal is to obtain a simple assembly and sure of the container in the box, without it requires precise and costly machining operations, especially if it is made by techniques of molding.
  • Another special goal is to get a box sufficiently watertight to prevent entry of dirt or bacteria between the box and the container.
  • Yet another particular goal is to achieve an electronic watch so that you can test the movement with its electric battery in its container waterproof before mounting in the box, while allowing easily replace the battery after use.
  • the invention relates a timepiece of the kind indicated above, characterized in that the fixing means comprise an annular element mounted notch on the box, a flange projecting from said frame and a compressible annular seal disposed between the protruding rim and the box, so that said flange and said seal are compressed axially between the annular element and the box.
  • the movement container can be simply suspended by its protruding rim inside the box, where it does not require any other scope than that on which rests on the compressible annular seal. Thanks at the joint, this range obviously does not require a large machining precision.
  • An important advantage results from this that the bottom of the box does not need to press the container and can therefore have any shape and wide manufacturing tolerances, as well as the part forming middle below the area of the means of fixation.
  • said annular element is in support axial directly on the frame. It can advantageously be a telescope covering an edge of the ice without touching it.
  • the frame preferably includes a hatch containing an electric battery and sealed with a plug mounted on the frame.
  • the box can then include a bottom having, opposite said plug, a window allowing the passage of said plug and of the battery for change it.
  • an annular seal compressible is placed between the frame and the box around from said window.
  • the box is a part forming a middle part and a bottom and comprising in the middle part a side opening in which the stem control is inserted with transverse play and cooperates with a seal mounted in said opening.
  • Timepiece 1 shown in the drawings is formed, in the embodiment described here, by a wristwatch 1 comprising a case 2 made of a metallic material.
  • Box 2 which we see so detailed in Figures 2 and 3, is in one piece comprising an annular lateral part 2a in the form of classic build and case back 2c.
  • the middle 2a has conventional way of attachment to a bracelet, with the general reference 4.
  • attachment means 4 are formed on the one hand and other of said box by four pierced horns 6, type of those described in US Pat. No. 4,624,581. These horns 6 which are connected two by two by roofs 8 come in one piece with box 2 and are also made of metal. These horns are configured to be able to receive, via a connecting axis, the two branches A and B of a bracelet.
  • Watch 1 also includes a dial 10 above from which indicator means can move consisting of a 12 hour hand, a hand 14 and a second hand 16.
  • watch 1 comprises a container 19 comprising a frame 20 made of plastic, for example ABS, in which mounted electronic time components and mechanical to provide time information, transmitted to needles 12, 14 and 16.
  • a container 19 comprising a frame 20 made of plastic, for example ABS, in which mounted electronic time components and mechanical to provide time information, transmitted to needles 12, 14 and 16.
  • the mounting of these time components is described in detail in patent CH 643 704.
  • they are mounted directly inside the frame 20 relatively rigid forming the plastic container 19.
  • the container 19 is closed tightly by a glass 22 also made of plastic, for example PMMA, the peripheral edge 24 of which is fixedly secured and sealed at the periphery of the frame 20, for example by a ultrasonic welding.
  • a glass 22 also made of plastic, for example PMMA, the peripheral edge 24 of which is fixedly secured and sealed at the periphery of the frame 20, for example by a ultrasonic welding.
  • Watch 1 also has a rod 26 which allows order the above time components.
  • the rod 26 slides inside the frame 20, a first O-ring 28 being interposed between a wall inner cylindrical 30 of the frame 20 and a groove annular 32 of said rod 26.
  • a second O-ring 33 sealing is interposed between the rod 26 and a opening 35 formed in a lateral part 2a of the box 2, this second seal 33 being held in place by a ring 34 engaged in said box.
  • the opening 35 leaves enough play around the rod 26 to allow introduce it at an angle.
  • An attached crown 27 is engaged on the free end of the rod 26, this crown 27 being placed on said rod 26 after mounting container 19 in box 2.
  • the aforementioned time components of the shows 1 are powered by a 36 battery housed fully in container 19.
  • a 36 battery housed fully in container 19.
  • a housing called battery door 38 which is tightly closed by a plug 40, of the type bayonet, provided with a seal 41 which rests elastically against the frame 20 and the stack 36.
  • a plug 40 of the type bayonet
  • seal 41 which rests elastically against the frame 20 and the stack 36.
  • the plug 40 is not attached to the bottom 2c of the watch case, as usually, but to the interior frame 20. It is nevertheless accessible from the outside, as will be described later.
  • the frame 20, in association with the glass 22, the plug 40 and the rod 26 constitute an absolutely autonomous container 19 waterproof and provided with its battery 36, on which can be performed leak tests before mounting the container 19 in the metal box 2.
  • the container 19 is axially suspended in box 2 via a sealing O-ring 42 in material compressible, which is interposed between a side rim protruding upper 20a of the frame 20 and an upper edge corresponding 2b of the box 2.
  • the seal 42 is compressed axially on the frame 20 by the pressure of the telescope 18.
  • the edge 2b of the box 2 is here horizontal, but it could have another form, for example frustoconical. Thanks to the compressibility of the seal 42, the container 19 is held resiliently in box 2 and does not need to lean on the bottom 2c of the box.
  • the timing transverse is provided by internal shoulders not shown in the box 2, below the edge 2b.
  • Another O-ring seal 44 is interposed between a cylindrical seat 20b which is formed at the base of the frame 20, around the battery door 38, and a corresponding recess 46 made in the bottom 2c of the box 2, this background coming from material with the other parts from the box 2.
  • the plug 40 of the battery 36 is accessible from outside of box 2, thanks to a through window 48 made at the right of the hatch stack 38 in the bottom 2c.
  • the cap 40 is slightly projection from box 2 and arrives flush with the wall outside of the bottom 2c of the box 2.
  • the container 19 in the box 2 is fixed only in the area of the edge 20a, one can advantageously leave any interval between the box 2 and the frame 20, all around it, including vis-à-vis the bottom 2c, which increases the dimensional tolerances and reduce the cost of manufacturing, for example using techniques of molding or striking.
  • the container remains fixed without play even after aging of its synthetic material, which is preferably ABS. Said interval being closed externally by O-rings 33, 42 and 44, moisture and dirt cannot get in, which avoids internal damage and the risk of development bacteria that may inconvenience the carrier watch. This seal remains when the battery door 38.
  • the sealed container 19 is held in place at inside the box 2 thanks to the metallic bezel 18 or metallized, including an inner annular bearing 52 press axially on top of the side rim 20a to compress the seal 42.
  • the bezel 18 is held in place in the box by frustoconical bearing surfaces 54 ( Figure 3) formed respectively on the bezel 18 and in the part side 2a of the box 2.
  • the bezel 56 covers with a roof 18 has glass 22 to hide the plastic frame 20. This roof usually does not touch the ice, but it can protect against accidental removal of ice.
  • the invention is not limited to the embodiment described above, which can do subject to numerous modifications and variations.
  • this member may be covered by a fixed or rotating bezel.
  • a compressible element could be interposed between the annular fixing element and the upper face of the ledge 20a.
  • the invention is not limited wristwatches, but may apply to others timepieces such as a pendant watch or any other watch provided with a metal case.
