Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a watch case whose constituent elements are made integral with each other through the bezel.
  • the invention more particularly relates to a watch case that can be classified in the so-called "three-piece" category, that is to say a box comprising an independent bezel, caseband and bottom that, after assembly, delimit with space a space in which is housed a movement allowing a digital or analog display of the time on a dial disposed below the ice.
  • the middle part is generally the essential element for fixing the bezel and the bottom by screwing, by driving or even by gluing.
  • the watch case described in the EP 0 443 366 is composed of two shells united by a middle, the lower shell forming a screwed bottom and the upper shell being in fact a thin ice-bezel glued.
  • the watch case according to the present invention makes it possible, on the contrary, to have an assembly of the various constituent elements, without involving the middle part as a mechanical connecting element.
  • the middle part retains a functional role in particular to reinforce the tightness is to allow the fixing of bracelet strands. Having no mechanical function it can also be performed in a simpler and more economical way, for example by molding or injection of a plastic material and thus provide a great freedom of choice in the assortment of a collection.
  • the subject of the invention is a watch comprising a box comprising a bottom, a caseband and a window closed by an ice-cream, together defining a space in which is housed a watch movement supported by a turntable and allowing an analog or digital display of the time on a dial placed under the ice.
  • the construction of this box is characterized in that the bezel constitutes an essential element of assembly.
  • the bezel is made of metal having locally a ring of sufficient thickness to allow the execution of series of blind holes in its lower part.
  • a first series of threaded holes is for screwing a first set of screws for fixing the movement on the bezel.
  • a second series of tapped holes angularly offset from the first series and intended for screwing a second series of screws that pass through the movement for fixing the bottom in the lower part of the bezel.
  • the bezel, the movement and the bottom thus form a perfectly rigid set insensitive to shock waves likely to destabilize the fragile parts of the movement. It goes without saying that the assembly of these three elements is done by interposing the middle part which, having no assembly function, can be floating between seals provided at the middle and the bottom and allow the attachment of bracelet strands.
  • FIG. figure 1 an analog display wristwatch is shown by means of the hour hand 7, the minute hand 8 and a small second hand 9.
  • the bottom view shown in FIG. figure 1 it was assumed that the bottom was completely transparent to show the angular distribution of the fastening means 10, 20, 30 on the bezel 4.
  • the box is designed for a watch called "skeleton" is that is, in which the mobiles (not shown) of the movement 1 are apparent.
  • the box consists of a bottom 2, a middle part 3 and a window 4 closed by an ice cream 5 with interposition of a seal 15.
  • the bottom 2 can obviously be made in one piece, but in a model "skeleton" the bottom 2 is preferably formed by an outer ring 12, said ring preferably being opaque for masking fastening or sealing elements, and by a transparent disc 22 locked in the ring 12 by seals 16.
  • the transparent disc 22 has substantially the same diameter as the ice 5, or even a little less and can be made of the same material as the ice 5.
  • the bottom 2, or the bottom ring 12 can be made of any material sufficiently rigid, but it will preferably be metal to ensure better cohesion of the assembled elements.
  • the bezel 4 is, according to a feature of the invention made of metal and has a ring of material 14 of sufficient thickness to be able to achieve blind holes, as shown in FIG. Figures 2 and 3 .
  • the figure 2 represents a broken section along line II-II of the figure 1 passing through the center and two types of attachment.
  • fixing the movement 1 to the bezel 4 by means of a first series of screws 10 screwed into threaded holes 11 of the bezel 4.
  • this fixing is performed at three points regularly distributed around the ring 14.
  • This fixing is performed through holes 11a provided in the support of the movement 1, which can be either the plate itself (not shown) supporting the movement 1 , or a casing ring (not shown) to which the movement 1 is subject.
  • the plate or the casing ring are blocked by the screws 10 on a ring of the lower face of the bezel 4 preferably having beyond the ring 14 an extension 24 directed towards the center of the watch, said extension 24 contributing to stiffen the telescope 4 and thus guarantee the accuracy of the assembly of the movement 1 on said bezel 4.
  • the extension 24 will advantageously be limited to a ring preferably having a 25 inclined towards the center of the watch, which allows a better readability of the hourly indices reported on said surface 25, while leaving perfectly visible in a central opening 26 the movement, and in particular the wheels.
  • the ring 24 can be extended to the hole of the hands 7, 8 and thus form a dial-bezel.
  • the central opening 26 can also be closed by an opaque disk independent of the annular extension 24.
  • the positioning of the movement 1 on the bezel 4 can be made more precise thanks to two pins 30 integral with the movement 1 and engaging in blind holes 31 of the bezel 4.
  • the pins 30 are shown in diametral position, but they could obviously have another angular positioning, provided not to coincide with the first series of screws 10.
  • a second series of screws 20 serves to fix the bottom 2 by screwing into threaded holes 21 of the window 4.
  • the screws 20 pass through the bottom 2 in its annular portion 12, then the movement 1 through holes 21a provided in the platinum or the casing circle.
  • the holes 21a are provided with a slight clearance so that the screwing of the screws 20 does not compromise the adjustment of the movement 1 on the telescope 4.
  • the assembly which has just been described is carried out by interposing the caseband 3 before the fixing of the bottom 2.
  • This middle part no longer involved in the positioning and fixing of the movement 1 may have a simple shape essentially comprising fastening means 13 of bracelet strands and means for enhancing the tightness.
  • the lower part of the caseband 3 comprises an annular groove 36 intended to receive a seal 32 bearing on the upper surface of the outer ring 12 of the bottom 2.
  • the upper inner edge of the caseband comprises an annular clearance 37 for receiving a seal 33 bearing on the lower surface of the extension 34 of the telescope 4.
  • This extension 34 also has at its end an annular nose 39 which engages in a corresponding groove 37 of the 3.
  • the total height of the caseband 3 and the thickness of the seals 32 and 33 are preferably chosen in such a way that there remains a small clearance between the caseband 3 and on the one hand the bottom 2, on the other hand the case 4.
  • the middle part 3 is therefore mounted floating between these two assembly elements of the box and can thus have a shock absorber function. It will also be observed that this construction makes it possible to have tolerances of manufacture of the middle part rather wide, and to be able to make it for example by molding or injection of a plastic material whose it is very easy to modify the color for example for a collection given.
