Abstract

The slewing plate (12) is easily removable from the base plate (14), on which it is mounted via a central bearing. In a first working condition, the slewing plate is supported from the base plate by an annular surface (28,30,32) on its underside. In a second, a freely rotating slip-ring (38) is inserted in an annular groove (36) in one of the mating faces on the plates, its top and bottom surfaces having low coefficients of friction, while its thickness is greater than the groove depth, so that it forms the sole support for the slewing plate. In a third condition, bearing rollers turning freely are inserted in openings in the slip-ring. Their effective dia. is greater than the ring thickness, so that they form the sole support for the slewing plate, while the ring acts as a bearing cage.

Description

The invention relates to a method for gradually changing the turning behavior of a turntable consisting of a base plate and a turntable, with which the turntable is supported on the base plate.

Such a turntable is known from US-A-5,000,513. The rotating plate is rotatably held in the central area by means of a bearing attachment on the base plate and is supported outside of this bearing area with an annular surface on the base plate. There is a sliding connection between the rotating plate and the base plate. Such turntables are used by both lightweight and heavy people. Since the torque is load-dependent, a light person needs only a small torque, but a heavy person needs a much larger torque. In the known turntable, the friction pairing has a predetermined coefficient of friction that is tailored to medium-weight people. The turntable is therefore too easy for light people, the reverse applies to heavy people.

Now the smoothness of the turntable can be increased by installing rolling bearings, as is known, for example, from US-A-2,757,388, which would mean an improvement for heavy people, but this turntable would be unsuitable for light-weight people, because disabled people can only imperfect their movements control and, a fine dosage of a very low torque is often not possible for them. For light-weight people, the turntable creates fear and uncertainty.

The object of the invention is to design a turntable of the type mentioned in such a way that the turning behavior can be adapted to individual needs in a simple manner.

This object is achieved with the features of claims 1 or 2.

From US-A-2905229 a swivel chair is known, in which in the rotating part and in the bottom part facing annular grooves and an inserted cage with rolling elements are provided in this document, but this document gives no suggestion to use the cage as a sliding element without the rolling elements to be able to.

The turntable according to the invention has several options for influencing the rotational resistance. For particularly light-weight items, the ring element can be removed so that the rotating plate slides directly on the base plate, as in the known rotary plate. The rotational resistance is the greatest. In the next setting stage, the rotating plate slides on the ring element and this in turn slides on the base plate. Thanks to the easy mobility of the ring element in the ring groove of the rotary plate and / or the base plate, a relative sliding movement between the rotary plate and the ring element or between the ring element and the base plate or between the two pair of sliding surfaces can occur. The resistance to rotation is thus reduced. A further reduction in the torque required during operation is achieved by inserting rolling elements into the openings in the ring element. Due to the diameter of the rolling elements with respect to the thickness of the ring element, the sliding movement is replaced by a rolling movement, whereby the rotational resistance is further reduced. It is important that when using rolling elements, the ring element only acts as a cage, that is, it no longer has any influence on the turntable plate. If you use such Rolling elements, the speed of rotation of the ring element is half that of the rotating plate. The number of rolling elements used also affects the smooth running of the rotating plate. In the case of a turntable with eight openings in the ring element, a lower level of smoothness can be achieved by inserting four rolling elements than when inserting eight rolling elements, which represents the step with the lowest resistance to rotation. The turntable according to the invention thus has an at least three-stage, if desired, but also a four, five or six-stage adjustability of its rotational resistance, so that the cheapest rotational resistance can be set individually for the user.

It is within the scope of this invention to sell the turntable even without the ring element used, or without the rolling elements used, and to supply the ring element and / or the rolling elements in an accessory pack or to supply them on request if increased ease of movement is desired. It is essential for the invention that at least one ring groove for inserting the ring element and openings in the ring element for the subsequent insertion of rolling elements are available.

A further development consists in that the sliding surfaces of the ring element are formed on narrow webs projecting from the ring element on the top and bottom sides. Although this increases the surface load on the narrower sliding surfaces, which has little or no effect on the rotational resistance, cavities are created between the webs, which are used to hold dust particles and foreign bodies that have penetrated. If the webs are preferably oriented in two groups of web arrangements crossing each other at right angles, with a pair of linearly aligned webs of both groups being aligned radially to the axis of rotation of the rotary plate, a conceivable arrangement circular webs ensures that no raceways form on the opposite flat sliding surfaces of the rotating plate and base plate.

The openings have on a pair of mutually opposite upper edges and on a pair of mutually opposite lower edges holding tabs which overlap the respective rolling element above and below and prevent it from falling out, the holding tabs being elastically deformable on at least one pair of edges for the insertion and removal of the rolling element are trained. It is therefore sufficient to press a finger on each rolling element to snap it into the opening of the ring element and, accordingly, to be able to push it out again.

According to a further development, the rolling elements, at most with the exception of their end faces, are cylindrical and the openings are rectangular in the radial section of the ring element, the rolling elements being supported in the openings with rotational play.

The ring groove for the ring element can optionally be provided on the bottom side in the rotating plate or on the top side in the bottom plate, as is also possible to provide mutually corresponding ring grooves in both plates.

The invention is described in more detail with reference to the drawing, which represents an exemplary embodiment.

A turntable 10 consists of a circular disk-shaped rotating plate 12, a base plate 14, which is also illustrated here in the form of a circular disk, but could also be elongated, a cushion pad 16 on the rotating plate 12, a locking ring 18 which is clamped onto the outer edge of the rotating plate 12 and overlaps the outer circumference of the cushion pad 16, as well as a central bearing which rotatably supports the rotary plate 12 on the base plate 14 and consists of a rotary plate connector 22 and a base plate socket 24, which interlock positively and are connected to one another by a screw.

On the bottom side, the bottom plate 24 has a rubber ring strip 26, which serves to increase the grip on a base. On the bottom side, a number of annular support surfaces 28, 30, 32 are formed on the rotating plate 12, with which the rotating plate 12 could be supported on the flat bottom plate 14 on the top side, namely when the 34 in FIG. 1 illustrated sliding and / or rolling arrangement is not provided or is removed from the rotary plate 12.

In the rotary plate 12, an annular groove 36 is provided on the bottom side, in which an annular element 38 with radial running gaps is rotatably mounted coaxially with the axis of rotation 40 of the rotary plate 12. The thickness of the ring element 38 is slightly greater than the depth of the ring groove 36, so that upper and lower sliding surfaces are formed on the ring element 38, one with the bottom surface of the ring groove 36 and the other with the top surface of the bottom plate 14 Form pair of sliding surfaces. These pair of sliding surfaces have a low coefficient of friction, so that the rotational resistance of the rotary plate 12 using the ring element 38 is lower than without this ring element 38.

The ring element 38 has two groups of intersecting webs 40, 42 which project from the top and bottom surfaces and on which sliding surfaces 44, 46 are formed which lie in parallel radial planes. The webs 40, 42 delimit flat chambers in which dust particles and the like can collect.

The ring element 38 has eight radially directed openings 48 which are arranged at equal circumferential spacings and are rectangular in cross section, but which need not serve to receive cylindrical rolling elements 50. The rolling elements 50 are aligned exactly radially to the axis of rotation 40 of the ring element 38 and are arranged in the openings 48 so as to be easily rotatable. The diameter of the rolling elements 50 is slightly larger than the effective thickness of the ring element 38, which is measured between the two parallel planes in which the sliding surfaces 44, 46 of the webs 40, 42 lie. This excess of the rolling element diameter compared to the thickness of the ring element 38 can be so small that the sliding friction between the sliding surfaces 44 on the bottom surface of the annular groove 36 and the sliding surfaces 46 on the top surface of the bottom plate 14 is only reduced, but not canceled, so that the load on the Turntable 10 is distributed both on the rolling elements 50 and on the sliding surfaces 44, 46.

Thus, it is within the scope of the invention to add two sets of rolling element sizes to the turntable 10 loosely, the set of rolling elements with a smaller diameter being used if a combined sliding-rolling bearing arrangement is desired. The set of slightly larger rolling elements 50 would then be used to To eliminate sliding friction, so that in this case the ring element 38 only serves as a cage for the rolling elements and, when the rotary plate 12 is rotated, only rotates under load, but without transmitting force to the base plate 14. In this case, the ring element 38 rotates half as fast as the rotating plate 12, ie when the rotating plate 12 is rotated 90 °, the ring element 38 only rotates 45 °.

On the lower edges of each opening 48 there are tabs 52 which run along the central section of the opening 58 and which engage under the rolling element 50. At the two ends of the upper edges of the opening 48, similar tabs 54 are formed, which overlap the rolling element 50. These tabs 52, 54 are elastically flexible, so that the rolling elements 50 can be easily pressed into the openings 48 by finger pressure and can also be pushed out again. It is understood that the rolling elements 50 are exposed between the pairs of tabs in order to be able to roll on the respective counter surfaces on the rotary plate 12 and the base plate 14.

In the exemplary embodiment, eight openings 48 are provided, so that when a rolling element 50 is inserted in each of these openings, a very low rotational resistance for the turntable 10 is achieved. This allows a comfortable turn with little force when loaded by a heavy person. If the rotational resistance is to be increased, the number of rolling elements 50 can be halved in a first increase stage, such that every second rolling element is removed. In a next step of increasing the rotational resistance, these last rolling elements 50 are also removed, so that the ring element 38 then loses its guiding function as a cage for the rolling elements, but instead receives a supporting function in the form of a slide ring. If the rotary resistance of the turntable 10 is still too large for the respective application, the ring element becomes 38 completely removed from the recess 36, so that the now forced stiffness when rotating the turntable 10 is suitable for particularly lightweight people.
