Abstract

The slewing plate (12) is easily removable from the base plate (14), on which it is mounted via a central bearing. In a first working condition, the slewing plate is supported from the base plate by an annular surface (28,30,32) on its underside. In a second, a freely rotating slip-ring (38) is inserted in an annular groove (36) in one of the mating faces on the plates, its top and bottom surfaces having low coefficients of friction, while its thickness is greater than the groove depth, so that it forms the sole support for the slewing plate. In a third condition, bearing rollers turning freely are inserted in openings in the slip-ring. Their effective dia. is greater than the ring thickness, so that they form the sole support for the slewing plate, while the ring acts as a bearing cage.
