Shed-forming device for actuating shafts in a heald machine having a pair of mutually opposed knives (11A, 11B) which can be moved against one another and having a plurality of pivoting levers (14, 15) which are connected to the shafts and of which the first end, which faces towards the knives, is provided with a first connecting device (13) with the aid of which the pivoting levers can be selectively connected to one of the knives, and having first profile arrangements (16) which are rotatable about spindles (17) which substantially extend in the direction of movement of the knives (11A, 11B), the said profile arrangements (16) having, in each case, at least one profile (24) which revolves around their axis of rotation in a closed line and migrates in the axial direction, and each knife (11A, 11B) being in engagement with at least one profile (24), characterised in that the pivoting levers are provided, at their second end, with a second connecting device with the aid of which they can be selectively connected to one knife of a second pair of mutually opposed knives (11C, 11D) which can be moved against one another, the knives of the second pair being, in each case, in engagement with at least one profile (24) of the first profile arrangements.
  3. Shed-forming machine according to claim 1, characterised in that the first and second profile arrangements can be driven jointly via a gear unit.
  4. Shed-forming device according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the profile arrangements have cam cylinders in which there are constructed grooves in which pegs constructed on the ends of the knives engage.
  5. Shed-forming device according to claim 4, characterised in that cam rollers engaging in the grooves are provided on the pegs.
  6. Shed-forming device according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterised in that the knives of the first pair of knives can be moved simultaneously with the knives of the second pair of knives in an oppositely phased manner.
  7. Shed-forming device according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterised in that the two pairs of knives can be moved in succession and that, in stop positions of the two pairs of knives, intervals between the knives which are mutually complementary in each case can be assumed.
  8. Shed-forming device according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterised in that the pairs of knives can be moved in such a way that, during a first portion of the cycle, the first pair of knives moves and the second pair of knives remains in a stop position, that in a succeeding portion of the cycle, both pairs of knives move simultaneously and that, in a further succeeding portion of the cycle, only the second pair of knives moves while the first pair of knives remains in a stop position, the said two pairs of knives having, in portions of the cycle without any movement of a pair of knives, intervals between the knives which are mutually complementary in each case.
  9. Shed-forming device according to one of claims 1 to 8, characterised in that the profile arrangements have, in each case, two mutually offset profiles which are associated, in each case, with one knife of a pair of knives.
  10. Shed-forming device according to one of claims 1 to 7, characterised in that the connecting device (13) comprises a double hook which can be selectively brought into engagement with one of the two knives of an associated pair of knives.
