The pouch is fixed along two tank generating lines (9) in the same horizontal plane. A rigid cradle fits the bottom of the cylindrical part and the pouch is fixed on the two edges of this cradle. A pipe assembly (11) penetrates into the tank from the top through the pouch. The pouch forms a small sock (13), surrounding the pipe assembly, which is fixed on a flange (12) perpendicular to a pipe.

Description

The present invention relates to tanks and in particular to those used in service stations or on tank-vehicles as storage tanks for dispensing petroleum fuels and which, for reasons of strength and ease of manufacture, preferably consist of: '' a cylindrical part closed at both ends by spherical or flat caps.

The tankers supplying a station store the fuels to be distributed in these tanks. The petrol vapors which have formed on contact with the air inside these tanks are expelled from them during filling and are thus returned to the atmosphere. Fuel losses are estimated to be 0.17%. In addition, for environmental protection, it is desirable to limit the return of hydrocarbon vapor to the atmosphere.

It has already been proposed, for this purpose, to recover and return these hydrocarbon vapors to the delivery tanker and to reprocess them in specially equipped refineries. This leads to major work on the station at a very high cost and an additional risk-taking linked to the transport of gases.

A tank has also been proposed which contains a pocket made of flexible material defining two separate compartments inside the tank, a vent opening into the tank compartment which is outside the pocket, for example in document WO 82/03847 where a closed pocket has an opening tightly fixed around the periphery of a corresponding opening of the tank formed in the lower part thereof. This device has the drawback that, on the one hand, the pocket can twist when it is empty, in particular in the case of a large pocket and, on the other hand, the tight connection between the opening of the pocket. and the opening of the tank undergoes during filling and filling of high stresses which reduce the life of this type of device.

In document EP-A-0 303 417, a tank is described comprising two flexible partitions each fixed inside the tank along two generators which are not diametrically opposite but which are in the same vertical plane, which define a first compartment located inside the two flexible partitions and a second and third compartment located inside the tank and outside the first compartment. An inlet opening and an outlet opening for the first compartment are disposed respectively on the top of the compartment and in the bottom of the compartment. Taking into account this arrangement which has no pocket, the volume of the first compartment is not zero when it is emptied of the liquid which it contains and consequently, during the unfilling or filling operation, a part of the air contained in the compartment is brought into contact with the stored liquid and escapes through one of the openings, causing losses of hydrocarbon vapor.

The invention relates to a tank which eliminates losses of hydrocarbons and their emission into the atmosphere while ensuring a longer service life and greater reliability.

According to the invention, the tank which is made up of a rigid cylindrical part closed at both ends by rigid spherical or flat caps and comprising a closed pocket made of flexible material, a vent opening into the part of the tank outside the pocket, is characterized in that the pocket is fixed to the tank along two generatrices of the cylindrical part, which are in the same substantially horizontal plane.

The attachment of the bag along two generators in a horizontal plane makes it possible to ensure not only that the volume of air contained by the bag when it is empty of liquid is substantially zero but also that the stresses undergone by the seals sealing at the inlet or outlet opening of the pocket are minimized. In addition the pocket can not twist.

As the tank is emptied, the air which hitherto came into contact with the hydrocarbon, fills the part of the tank which is outside the pocket and thus remains separated from the hydrocarbons without never mix with it. When the tank is refilled with hydrocarbons by sending hydrocarbon into the pocket, the air is expelled again from the tank by the vent, but since it has remained separated from the hydrocarbons, these will not not outside and there is no loss. We could have thought of simply fixing a membrane by its edges along two opposite generatrices of the cylindrical part and along the extensions of these generatrices on the spherical caps. But this work would have required bonding at best, since all welding is prohibited, very difficult to perform inside the tank, especially when the latter is already in place. By providing a pocket, it dispenses with any fixing along the spherical caps whose spherical shape is only approximate. The fixing along two generators in a substantially horizontal plane of the cylindrical part can be carried out very easily without damaging the wall of the tank, by providing a cradle of rigid material hugging the bottom of the cylindrical part, the pocket being attached to both edges of the cradle. To mount the pocket, the cradle is simply formed, made up of several parts so that it can pass through the manhole in the cylindrical part and it is placed on the bottom of this cylindrical part, so that its two edges extend along the two generatrices in a substantially horizontal plane of the cylindrical part. It is then very simple to fix the pocket in flexible material, in particular in plastic, on the two edges of the cradle which is immobilized in the tank.

According to a preferred embodiment, the pocket defines a sock surrounding a set of pipes entering the tank from above and intended to fill and empty the tank. The sock can be fixed on a base perpendicular to a pipe and which is fixed there. This ensures sealing between the pocket and the pipes which penetrate inside the latter.

Au dessin annexé, donné uniquement à titre d'exemple,

  • la figure 1 est une vue en coupe longitudinale d'une cuve suivant l'invention;
In the attached drawing, given solely by way of example,
  • Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional view of a tank according to the invention;
  • Figure 2 is a cross-sectional view of a tank according to the invention; and
  • Figure 3 is a perspective view of the cradle.

La partie 1 est munie en haut d'un évent 4.The tank according to the invention consists of a cylindrical part 1 made of steel, closed at both ends by spherical caps 2, 3 also made of steel. Part 1 is provided at the top with a vent 4.

A cradle made of rigid material and made up of several pieces, designated by the general reference 5, comprises arches 6 adapted to the shape of the bottom of the tank, and two edges 7, 8, which come along two generators 9 diametrically opposite of the part 1. The edges 8 consist of profiles in which can be inserted a section secured to a pocket 10 closed in flexible plastic.

La chaussette 13 est fixée sur l'embase 12.A set of pipes 11 penetrate from the top of the tank inside the pocket. On at least one of the pipes is fixed a base 12. The pocket 10 defines a sock 13 surrounding the set of pipes 11. The sock 13 is fixed on the base 12.

When the tank is emptied and filled with fuel, the fuel is introduced only into the pocket 10 so that the vent 4 communicates only with the part inside the tank which is located outside of the pocket and which does not contain fuel. When, as the tank empties or fills, the bag deforms, it does not matter that it badly adapts to caps 2 and 3, since no sealing must be ensured between the bag and the caps, since the pocket, because it is closed, prevents any passage of fuel through the space outside the pocket. In addition, the pocket being held along the two generators can no longer twist.

When the tank according to the invention constitutes the tank of a tank vehicle, it provides greater safety in the event of an accident.
