Fer à repasser à vapeur comprenant une semelle chauffante (11) présentant dans sa face inférieure une série de trous de sortie de vapeur (12) et dans sa face supérieure une chambre de vaporisation (14) en relation avec lesdits trous (12) et communiquant avec un réservoir d'eau (17), et une pompe (20) propre à prélever dans ledit réservoir (17) une dose d'eau et à envoyer cette dose, par l'intermédiaire d'un dispositif de sélection (24), soit dans ladite chambre de vaporisation (14) afin d'obtenir brusquement une abondante émission de vapeur à travers les trous (12) de la semelle, soit vers un pulvérisateur d'eau froide (25) situé dans la partie antérieure du fer, la pompe (20) étant du type à piston (27) se déplaçant dans une chambre d'aspiration (31) qui est ménagée dans le corps (21) de la pompe et qui débouche dans le réservoir (17) via un clapet anti-retour (35),
caractérisé en ce que le dispositif de sélection (24) comporte une membrane déformable (56) présentant une partie inférieure (56a) sensiblement plate pourvue de deux protubérances (58,59) faisant chacune office de clapet et étant maintenue en place de façon étanche dans une coupelle (39) qui est formée dans la partie supérieure du piston (27) de la pompe et dont le fond (40), d'une part, communique avec la chambre d'aspiration (31) par un alésage de refoulement (42) pratiqué dans ledit piston, et d'autre part, présente deux orifices, à savoir un orifice d'injection (44) relié à la chambre de vaporisation (14) et un orifice de pulvérisation (45) relié au pulvérisateur (25), les deux clapets (59,58) de la membrane (56) étant situés respectivement au niveau des deux orifices (45,44) et leur fonctionnement étant assujetti respectivement à deux boutons de commande manuelle, dits respectivement de vaporisation (62) et de pulvérisation (63), qui font saillie de la partie supérieure du fer et dont le bouton de vaporisation (62) est en relation avec le clapet (59) associé à l'orifice de pulvérisation (45), tandis que le bouton de pulvérisation (63) est en relation avec le clapet (58) associé à l'orifice d'injection (44), la membrane (56) passant d'une position de repos, définie lorsque la pompe (20) est amorcée, dans laquelle les deux clapets (58,59) sont fermés et obturent respectivement les deux orifices (44,45), à une position de travail, définie lorsque l'un ou l'autre des deux boutons (62,63) est actionné, dans laquelle le clapet (58;59) associé au bouton actionné (63;62) est maintenu fermé par ledit bouton et obture l'orifice correspondant (45;44), tandis que le clapet (58;59) associé à l'autre bouton s'ouvre par déformation de la membrane (56) provoquée par la pression de l'eau refoulée à travers l'alésage (42) du piston et dégage l'orifice correspondant (44;45) par lequel passe l'eau refoulée.
