Mit dem bekannten Becherfärbeapparat ist dies jedoch nicht möglich, da kein Zugang von aussen zu den im Halter und dieser wiederum im Kasten stehenden Bechern besteht. Der Startzeitpunkt sowie die Dosiercharakteristik müssen prozessorientiert programmiert und damit angepasst werden können, ohne dass der Färbeprozess unterbrochen werden muss.
