Definitions

  • the invention relates to an adapter fitting for the optional connection of a radiator provided with a radiator valve to the inlet and return pipe of a single-pipe or two-pipe heating system, with a housing in which two channels are provided, one of which is a connector for detachable connection of the inlet pipe with a connector for the detachable connection of the inlet opening of the radiator or a fitting leading to it, whereas the other channel connects a socket for the detachable connection of the return pipe with another socket for the detachable connection of the outlet opening of the radiator or an associated fitting, and in each of these channels, a shut-off valve is provided, and there is a connecting channel connecting the two channels, in which a regulating and shut-off valve is located, the two shut-off valves actuating one another and independently of the regulating and shut-off valve are cash.
  • Such adapter fittings are known (DE-A-3,934,837). On the one hand, they form a connection piece with which a radiator of any type, e.g. a panel or sectional heater, depending on the circumstances, can be connected to the pipes of a single-pipe heating system or a two-pipe heating system. On the other hand, such fittings make it possible to change the supply system, i.e. to switch from a single-pipe heating system to a two-pipe heating system or vice versa, even if the radiators are already installed.
  • the two shut-off valves serve to be able to shut off the radiator without obstructing the function of the system, be it because the room in which the radiator is located should not be heated, be it for the purpose of replacing the radiator or the like.
  • the two shut-off valves are designed as taps which can be actuated from the front of the fitting, ie as a rule the side of the radiator facing the space to be heated.
  • This construction has the disadvantage that the shut-off valves are difficult to access when the valve - for what Reasons always - must be connected rotated by 180 °. It is also disadvantageous that when the connection between the fitting and the radiator is loosened, the water runs out of it, since the outflow opening for the heating medium from this radiator is generally arranged at a lower point thereof.
  • the invention has for its object to avoid these disadvantages and to improve a valve of the type described above so that the actuation of the shut-off valves is always possible and that there is a possibility for a controlled emptying of the radiator in any position of the same, without the operation the other radiators in the system.
  • the invention solves this problem in that the two shut-off valves have rectilinearly adjustable closure bodies, that the adjustment directions of these closure bodies lie in a common plane spanned by the axes of the two connecting pieces to be connected to the heating element or its fitting, and that at least one of the connecting pieces leading to the radiator or its armature leads to the drainage opening that can be closed independently of the shut-off valves and the regulating and shut-off valve.
  • the two shut-off valves can thus be actuated from the two sides of the fitting, so that it does not matter in which position the fitting is connected to the pipes for the heating medium supply.
  • the radiator can be emptied in a controlled manner by means of the emptying opening when the shut-off valves are closed; the water flowing out through this emptying opening can be easily collected with a suitable vessel or removed in another suitable manner.
  • the invention offers the advantage that the fitting can be mounted in both possible positions, so that by selecting this position, the position of the emptying opening is adapted to the position of the outflow opening of the radiator.
  • the construction can easily be provided with a drain opening on each of the two nozzles, or two construction variants are provided, one of which has the drain opening on the left nozzle is connected, the other to the right.
  • the axis of the emptying opening lies in the plane mentioned, which also makes this opening easily accessible in all possible positions of the fitting.
  • the arrangement is such that the axis of the drain opening is coaxial with the axis of the associated shut-off valve. This simplifies production and enables a space-saving and material-saving construction.
  • the two adjusting devices and the axis of the emptying opening are expediently coaxial, preferably horizontal.
  • the horizontal, coaxial position makes it possible to maintain the familiar H-shaped basic shape of the valve, although in principle deviations from it would also be possible.

  • This disadvantage is that in a single-pipe heating system, the water swirls into the radiator even when the radiator valve is closed, thereby heating it more or less, even if the regulating and shut-off valve arranged in the connecting channel is fully open.
  • the arrangement is such that the valve seat of at least one shut-off valve is arranged in a wall section lying normal to the associated adjustment direction of a wall penetrating the associated channel, which forms a deflection surface for the heating medium flowing from the associated pipeline , which directs this heating medium towards the connecting channel.
