Definitions
- the invention relates to a screw press for dewatering suspensions in a continuous mode with a rotatably drivable, suspension-promoting worm shaft, with a jacket which surrounds the worm of the worm shaft and a press zone downstream of it with variable throttling, with an inlet serving for suspensions to be dewatered on an inlet side End of the press and with a drain serving for dewatered suspensions and downstream of the press zone in terms of flow at the other end of the press, Screw presses are known in various designs and are used for dewatering various suspensions (rejects, capture materials, sludge, fiber materials).
- the suspension to be dewatered is placed on a filling shaft (inlet) on a rotating screw and is conveyed from there towards a press outlet (outlet).
- a press outlet outlet
- throttling takes place in a so-called press zone, so that the screw builds up pressure in the suspension must to overcome the resistance of this throttling.
- the pressure build-up causes the suspension to be dewatered.
- Some screw presses are throttled by active (controllable) elements.
- Active elements Mechanically, pneumatically or hydraulically operated plates, cones or lamellas are used as active elements, whereby the pressure at which the outlet is released can be set depending on other parameters (type of suspension, final dry matter content).
- the present invention is therefore based on the object of designing a screw press of the type mentioned in the preamble with simple measures such that it enables a good adaptation of the throttling effect to the respective operating requirements and easy emptying and cleaning of the screw press while avoiding the disadvantages described with a high drainage efficiency .
- a screw press of the type mentioned in the preamble is characterized according to the invention by the features mentioned in the characterizing part of claim 1.
- the measure according to the invention of the screen basket which can be moved axially in the region of the pressing zone allows the throttling action of the highly effective pressing zone to be quickly adapted to the required operating conditions in a simple manner, and without major changes in the press.
- These operating conditions depend on the character of the suspension, its friction behavior and its shear strength. This adjustment can be done very quickly. As a result, an optimal drainage result and a sufficient dryness can always be achieved, even with variable suspension properties. This also increases operational safety and reduces the risk of machine damage due to clogging.
- the screw press can easily be completely emptied and the sieve basket in the pressing zone can be regularly cleaned of accumulated layers, which is important, for example, to remove dried-up suspension components and to avoid impermissibly high machine loads when restarting.
- claim 5 enables a particularly precise, continuous adjustment of the length of the press zone to the respective operating requirements. In many applications, however, the stepwise displaceability according to claim 6 is sufficient.
- claims 7 and 8 can be achieved with simple measures that when changing the length of the pressing zone the inlet-side screen basket section can remain unchanged.
- the overall length of the screw press can also remain unchanged, which would not be the case if the entire screen basket were movable.
- claims 9 to 11 are extremely advantageous because it can be achieved automatically that the length of the press zone is always optimally adapted to the respective operating conditions. If the drive power - or the torque - and / or the axial force increases too much, this is an indication that the length of the pressing zone must be reduced by moving the downstream strainer basket section (e.g. due to an impending blockage) so that the axial forces do not occur get too big. If, on the other hand, the drive power becomes too small, this is an indication that the length of the pressing zone is caused by shifting the downstream strainer basket section must be increased so that adequate drainage takes place. Due to the variable suspension properties, variable drive powers also occur in operation, by means of which the press zone length can be optimized in a time-variable manner. And finally, by returning the screen basket or screen basket section to the zero position, an effective press emptying or self-cleaning is guaranteed.
- the measure of claim 12 enables a very simple technical training in that an adjusting means is operated in one direction or the other, depending on whether the actual value exceeds or falls below the setpoint.
- a suitable drive is provided for adjusting the strainer basket section on the outlet side, so that the pressing zone can be adjusted automatically without manual intervention.
- the measure of claim 22 results in a very simple press zone structure, the throttling of which can be adjusted solely by moving the screen basket which can be found in this area.
- the inside of the press zone could be completely empty.
- the length of the pressing zone required for a specific throttling can also be smaller.
- a screw press 10 has a screw shaft 12 which carries a screw 14 in its left-hand or inlet-side area.
- the worm shaft 12 is rotatably supported in bearings 16 and 18 and connected to an electric motor rotary drive 30.
- the screw press 10 At the inlet-side end region of the screw shaft 12, the screw press 10 has an inlet 20 on the top for water to be dewatered in the direction of arrow A. Suspensions on.
- the screw press 10 On the right or drain-side, screw-free area of the screw shaft 12, the screw press 10 has a drain 22 on the underside for dewatered suspensions to be discharged in the direction of arrow B.
- a liquid drain 24 is provided in the deepest area of the screw press 10, from which the liquid removed from the suspension can drain downward in the direction of arrow C.
- the worm shaft 12 and its worm 14 are surrounded by a concentric screen jacket or screen basket, which delimits an annular channel for the suspension to be dewatered from the outside.
- This strainer jacket or strainer basket holds back the solid components of the suspension and is permeable to liquids.
- it consists of a stationary inlet-side screen basket section 32 and a longitudinally displaceable, concentric outlet-side screen basket section 34 on this. The latter more or less encloses a screwless pressing zone 28 of the worm shaft 12. The throttling effect of the pressing zone 28 is greater, the further the drain-side screen basket section 34 is shifted to the right.
- the drain-side screen basket section 34 is connected to a drive 36 which serves for axial displacement and which, in the present case, is designed as a hydraulic piston-cylinder unit. This is connected to the motor rotary drive 30 via a control element 38 of a control circuit which receives, for example, the current motor drive power as an input signal. If the motor drive power rises or falls compared to a predetermined target value, the drain-side screen basket section 34 is shifted to the left or to the right in order to reduce the throttling effect the press zone 28 with the aim of a consistent dewatering result and a machine protection correspondingly lower or enlarge.
- the control element 38 can move the movable screen basket section 34 via the drive 36 - for example when the press is switched off - to a zero position (to the left in the drawing), in which complete press emptying can be carried out without any problems.
- the control element 38 can also ensure that this zero position is also approached during the press operation for the purpose of self-cleaning and thus to avoid blockages.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a screw press for dewatering suspensions in a continuous mode with a rotatably drivable, suspension-promoting worm shaft, with a jacket which surrounds the worm of the worm shaft and a press zone downstream of it with variable throttling, with an inlet serving for suspensions to be dewatered on an inlet side End of the press and with a drain serving for dewatered suspensions and downstream of the press zone in terms of flow at the other end of the press,
Screw presses are known in various designs and are used for dewatering various suspensions (rejects, capture materials, sludge, fiber materials). The suspension to be dewatered is placed on a filling shaft (inlet) on a rotating screw and is conveyed from there towards a press outlet (outlet). In the press, throttling takes place in a so-called press zone, so that the screw builds up pressure in the suspension must to overcome the resistance of this throttling. The pressure build-up causes the suspension to be dewatered.
Some screw presses are throttled by active (controllable) elements. Mechanically, pneumatically or hydraulically operated plates, cones or lamellas are used as active elements, whereby the pressure at which the outlet is released can be set depending on other parameters (type of suspension, final dry matter content).
- a) Due to the friction of the material on the screen basket and worm shaft, the pressure is increased (brake worm).
- b) The stay in the high pressure zone is extended; this increases the final dry content.
- a) The throttling effect or the pressure loss in the press zone depends on the character of the suspension (friction behavior, shear strength) and cannot be influenced. If the suspension behavior changes, this can lead to operating problems. If the friction losses are too high, the drive power and axial force can rise above the permissible level. If the friction is too low, the length of the press zone may not be sufficient to build up sufficient pressure. Adequate dryness is not achieved. Experience has shown that the compensation of a press zone that is too short is only possible to a limited extent by an active throttle element.
- b) When the screw press is switched off, the press zone cannot be emptied. The suspension can dry out, so that impermissibly high loads (torque, axial force) can occur when restarting.
- c) Most sludges must be conditioned (flocculated) on a screw press before feeding. If unblocked sludge gets into the press even for a short time, this sludge can no longer push out the sludge plug in the pressing zone. The screw press "clogged".
- d) depending on the drainage behavior and the shear strength of the suspension, thin and relatively dry and water-impermeable layers can form in the pressing zone directly on the screen basket, over which the wetter suspension slides. The function of the press can be significantly affected. These layers can only be removed with great effort.
The present invention is therefore based on the object of designing a screw press of the type mentioned in the preamble with simple measures such that it enables a good adaptation of the throttling effect to the respective operating requirements and easy emptying and cleaning of the screw press while avoiding the disadvantages described with a high drainage efficiency .
To achieve the object, a screw press of the type mentioned in the preamble is characterized according to the invention by the features mentioned in the characterizing part of claim 1.
The measure according to the invention of the screen basket which can be moved axially in the region of the pressing zone allows the throttling action of the highly effective pressing zone to be quickly adapted to the required operating conditions in a simple manner, and without major changes in the press. These operating conditions depend on the character of the suspension, its friction behavior and its shear strength. This adjustment can be done very quickly. As a result, an optimal drainage result and a sufficient dryness can always be achieved, even with variable suspension properties. This also increases operational safety and reduces the risk of machine damage due to clogging. In addition, due to the movability (up to the zero position), the screw press can easily be completely emptied and the sieve basket in the pressing zone can be regularly cleaned of accumulated layers, which is important, for example, to remove dried-up suspension components and to avoid impermissibly high machine loads when restarting.
The measures of claims 2 to 4 relating to the size of the displaceability of the screen basket satisfy the operational requirements and the necessary throttling effects of the pressing zone which are customary in practice.
Bei vielen Anwendungsfällen genügt jedoch die stufenweise Verschiebbarkeit gemäß Anspruch 6.The further embodiment of claim 5 enables a particularly precise, continuous adjustment of the length of the press zone to the respective operating requirements. In many applications, however, the stepwise displaceability according to claim 6 is sufficient.
The features of claims 7 and 8 can be achieved with simple measures that when changing the length of the pressing zone the inlet-side screen basket section can remain unchanged. The overall length of the screw press can also remain unchanged, which would not be the case if the entire screen basket were movable.
The preferred features of claims 9 to 11 are extremely advantageous because it can be achieved automatically that the length of the press zone is always optimally adapted to the respective operating conditions.
The measure of
The development of claim 13 is preferred so that there is no unstable operation. After each rapid extension of the press zone (for the purpose of increasing the throttling), a cavity is created in front of the screw spirals, which leads to a decrease in the torque (drive power) or the axial force. If the controller is not sufficiently sluggish, the control behavior will be unstable or incorrect, and the pressing zone would temporarily be enlarged too much. The control process can be stabilized by waiting for a new equilibrium state to be reached after each extension of the pressing zone.
An effective and targeted self-cleaning can be achieved by the embodiments of
In a further embodiment, according to claims 17 to 19, a suitable drive is provided for adjusting the strainer basket section on the outlet side, so that the pressing zone can be adjusted automatically without manual intervention.
The practical configurations according to
The measure of
Basically, the inside of the press zone could be completely empty. For most suspensions, however, it is advantageous according to
The invention is explained in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing.
The
The drain-side
The
