Definitions

  • the invention relates to a tensioning and closing device for strapping an object with a plastic band according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
  • Such a device is known from the patent DE 30 13 429 C2.
  • the tensioning wheel is then rotated by means of a motor drive, as a result of which the band arranged below the pivot axis of the seesaw is tensioned.
  • the known device has the disadvantage, among other things, that the rocker with the tensioning wheel presses against the belt and the tensioning shoe with increasing force with increasing tension, which leads to rapid wear on the tensioning shoe.
  • the tensioning unit must be designed to be correspondingly stable and therefore heavy.
  • the rocker with the tensioning wheel jams during the tensioning process due to the progressive pressing force between its bearing and the tensioning shoe, so that it is very difficult to release the strap tension again without severing the strap. This means that plastic tape is lost if the tensioning process is not carried out satisfactorily for some reason.
  • a device for connecting two ends of a plastic band which has a tensioning device which can be pivoted about an axis and a welding device.
  • a pretensioner with a compression spring and a tubular sleeve clamps one end of the band between a tensioning wheel and an intermediate piece and the other end of the band between the intermediate piece and a base plate.
  • the tensioning wheel is turned by means of a tensioning lever to tension the band to be welded.
  • the end of the tape is cut off and the welding device is activated by operating a separate locking lever.
  • the hand-held welding device for thermoplastic strapping tapes known from EP-A-0 006 191 relates to a device in which, after lifting a fan lever, a band end is brought between a clamping surface and a clamping piece and clamped by lowering the fan lever.
  • the other end of the belt is inserted between a tension bed and a tension roller.
  • the tensioning roller is pressed against the end of the belt to be tensioned by means of a return spring.
  • the belt is tensioned by means of a separate actuating lever which can be coupled to the tensioning roller via a one-way clutch and to a heating element, a cutting device and a press ram via a drag clutch.
  • the band is tensioned below the pivot axis of the tensioning device or the actuating lever.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a generic tensioning and closing device in which the seesaw with the tensioning wheel exerts sufficient pressing force on the band to be tensioned on the one hand and on the other hand can be lifted again without great effort in any position of use of the device.
  • the clamping and closing device is shown schematically in a side view. It is placed on an object 2 to be strapped with a thermoplastic plastic band 1 and comprises a housing 3 with a tensioning unit 4 and a closing unit 5.
  • the plastic band 1 is placed around the object 2, and two of its ends 6, 7 to be closed are removed from the Clamping unit 4 held.
  • the closing unit 5 is suitable for connecting the two overlapping ends 6, 7 in a manner known per se after tensioning the plastic band 1, for example by friction welding.
  • a separating device (not shown) can be arranged downstream of the tensioning unit 4 for separating the required plastic strip section from the supply roll.
  • the housing 3 has a base plate 8 on which the clamping unit 4 and the closing unit 5 are fastened.
  • the tensioning unit 4 has two tooth plates 9, 9 'for holding a section of the lower end 7 of the plastic band 1 to be closed.
  • a tensioning shoe 10 is fastened to the upper toothed plate 9 for receiving a section of the upper end 6 of the plastic band 1 to be closed.
  • a pivotable rocker 11 is provided with a toothed tensioning wheel 13 which can be driven via a tensioning shaft 12 for pressing the upper end 6 of the plastic band 1 against the tensioning shoe 10 and for grasping the upper end 6 when the tensioning shaft 12 rotates, so that the plastic band 1 is tensioned in the tensioning direction 14 in a manner known per se, as will be explained below.
  • the bearing 15 of the swiveling rocker 11 is arranged on the side of the tensioning shoe 10 (here: under the upper end 6 of the plastic band 1) and in the tensioning direction 14 behind it, the rocker axis being between a support surface 16 of the tensioning shoe 10 and the base plate 8.
  • the rocker 11 with the tensioning wheel 13 on the one hand exerts sufficient pressing force on the band 1 to be tensioned, and on the other hand it can be lifted off again in any position of use of the device without great effort.
  • the tensioning shoe 10 and the upper toothed plate 9 are, as will be explained in the following, loosely arranged between the tensioning shaft 12 and the lower toothed plate 9 '.
  • the rocker 11 is essentially pivotable between three positions. When it is pivoted all the way to the right (shown in FIG. 2, the so-called basic position), the tensioning shoe 10 and the upper tooth plate 9 are lifted off the lower tooth plate 9 ', so that the lower end 7 of the plastic band 1 to be closed is between the tooth plates 9, 9 'can be introduced. In a middle position (shown in Fig. 3 the so-called free position) the tooth plates 9, 9 'clamp the lower end 7, and the tensioning wheel 13 is held at a distance from the tensioning shoe 10, so that the upper end 6 of the plastic band 1 to be closed is inserted between the tensioning shoe 10 and the tensioning wheel 13 can. • the tensioning shoe 10 has an at least partially designed as a cylindrical recess bearing surface 16 for receiving the upper end 6 of the plastic band 1 in the free position (FIG. 3) and for supporting the tensioning wheel 13 in the tensioning position (FIG. 5). Furthermore, the tensioning shoe 10 has a support surface 10 'for supporting (via further parts) the tensioning shaft 12 in the free position.
  • the angle ⁇ lies in the plane perpendicular to the tensioning shaft axis between the semi-axis from the tensioning wheel center to the bearing of the rocker 11 on the one hand and the semi-axis from the tensioning wheel center to the center of the bearing surface 16 designed as a cylindrical recess on the other hand between 20 ° and 30 °. It has been found that such an angle ⁇ is optimal for the clamping unit 4.
  • the rocker 11 is connected to the housing 3 via a compression spring 17 with adjustable spring force, so that when the tensioning wheel 13 rests on the tensioning shoe 10, the pressing force of the tensioning wheel 13 on the plastic band 1 on the tensioning shoe 10 can be regulated.

  • This locking pawl 25 is arranged on the clamping lever 19, and the housing 3 has a stop 26 for the pawl 25. It serves to limit the stroke of the tensioning lever 19 during the tensioning process. If the tensioning lever 19 were pivoted too far down when tensioning the plastic tape 1, the rocker 11 would namely be moved back from its tensioned position into its free position, which would lead to the undesired loosening of the plastic tape 1.
  • the locking pawl 25 thus ensures that the full stroke of the tensioning lever 19 can be used without undesired loosening of the tensioning wheel 13 during the tensioning process. Their exact effect is explained in more detail with reference to FIGS. 7 and 8.
  • the closing unit 5 Since the closing unit 5 is arranged behind the tensioning wheel 13 in the tensioning direction 14, the end 6 of the closing unit 5 is not tensioned. This is advantageous in the friction welding of the two overlapping ends 6, 7 of the plastic band 1, since one is not tensioned Belt section is easier to vibrate than a tensioned belt section.
