Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device for encapsulating high-rise container closures, in particular barrel fittings, with a cap feeder and a cap press-on device above a longitudinal conveyor for the containers to be encapsulated.
  • cap feeder arranged above a longitudinal conveyor for the barrels, which at the same time also serves as a pressing device.
  • the cap feeder consists of a cap chute leading obliquely downwards in the longitudinal conveying direction of the containers, which forms a cap dispenser at its free end at the level of the barrel fittings, so that a barrel conveyed towards the conveyor hooks into a cap located in the cap dispenser and takes it with it.
  • the cap that is carried along is pressed onto the fitting by a corresponding contact surface at the end of the cap dispenser.
  • Mechanical encapsulation of barrel fittings is certainly possible, but the barrels must have a high level of stability so that they do not tip over when the caps are pressed on.
  • the known devices are therefore only suitable for larger and heavier barrels and do not allow encapsulation of smaller, lighter containers.
  • Such a device for applying lids to smaller, lighter containers is known from US-A-2 357 826 and GB-A-432463, in which the area of the cap delivery of the cap feeder for applying a cap to a container is a pivotable element assigned.
  • devices for placing bottle stoppers or capsules are further known as known, in which transversely or longitudinally towards a bottle conveyor and movable carriages with lifting stamps for pressing the stoppers or capsules onto the bottle openings are provided, which lifting stamps also serve simultaneously as stopper carriers (AT-B-391 846) or only as pressing tools (US-A-2 153 039).
  • There are therefore separate devices for applying the capsules to the bottle openings or slides and lifting rams are part of a complex manipulator, so that these devices are not only used to encapsulate container closures, but belong to an entire filling system as the actual closing station after filling the bottles .
  • the invention is therefore based on the object of creating a device of the type described at the outset which allows encapsulation of any barrels or containers in a very simple and rational manner.
  • the invention solves this problem in a generic device in that the cap carrier is arranged in the longitudinal conveying direction, can be pivoted about a horizontal transverse axis with limited stops, and in the starting position the cap carrier can be swiveled into the conveying area of the longitudinal conveyor.
  • the carriage which can be moved above the longitudinal conveyor, allows the caps to be pressed on while the container is being conveyed, so that there is neither an interruption of the container feed nor a tipping load on the container, which enables a high throughput of the device and also a stability.
  • the size and weight of the container ensures independent application of this device.
  • the lifting plunger is raised again, the cap holder releasing the cap, and at the same time as the encapsulated containers are conveyed out of the press-on zone, the slide also moves back into its takeover position, in which it lies in the area of the cap delivery of the cap feeder. Now the next cap is removed via the cap holder of the cap carrier and the slide moves again into the starting position, from where the next push-on operation begins. Since this involves simple back and forth of both the slide and the lifting ram in the known manner and the control can be derived from the slide movement, the required control and drive effort remains low despite the functionally reliable and rational encapsulation operation.
  • the lifting ram and the slide drive consist of pneumatic cylinders
  • the required lifting movements can be carried out and controlled relatively easily and with the desired accuracy.
  • the carriage can advantageously be without drive in the press-on zone, so that cumbersome synchronization devices for the carriage and longitudinal conveyor movement remain unnecessary and the longitudinal conveyor also ensures the carriage movement during the press-on phase by the intermeshing of barrel fitting and cap.
  • a soft, somewhat restrained spring against the slide can be provided here in order to guarantee the perfect interlocking of the fitting and cap and thus the correct encapsulation.
  • the actual carriage drive then only requires an actuating cylinder for the forward movement between the takeover position and the starting position on the one hand and an actuating cylinder for the return movement between the end position and the takeover position on the other hand.
  • cap holder for the cap holder, since this cap holder only has to take the cap in the cap dispenser and bring it into the starting position and hold it there until the fitting hooks.
  • An expedient construction arises if the cap carrier has a suction device that can be pressurized as a cap holder, since such a suction device both reliably and functionally receive the caps can deliver and only needs to be placed on the top of the cap from above.
  • the slide and the cap dispenser sit on a height-adjustable support frame, so that the simple height adjustment of this support frame allows the device to be adapted to different container heights and the device is suitable for automatically encapsulating practically any container or barrel.
  • a device 1 for encapsulating the fittings F of containers B or other protruding container closures with caps K consists of a frame 2 on which a cap feeder 4 and a cap pressing device 5 are arranged above a longitudinal conveyor 3 for the containers B to be encapsulated.
  • the cap feeder 4 is composed of a sorting device 6, a feeder channel 7 and a cap dispenser 8 adjoining the feeder duct 7 on the outlet side, the cap dispenser 8 having an output compartment 9 open in the outlet direction with a lateral ball catch 10 as a backing for the caps K fed through the feeder duct 7 forms.
  • the cap pressing device 5 has a slide which can be moved along guides 11 parallel to the longitudinal conveyor 3 12, which is equipped with a downward directed to the longitudinal conveyor 3 jack 13.
  • This lifting plunger 13 consists of a pneumatic cylinder and on its plunger head 14 a cap carrier 15 lying in the longitudinal conveying direction is pivotably articulated about a horizontal transverse axis 16, the cap carrier 15 being spring-loaded via an opening spring and its folding movement being limited by an end stop 18.
  • a cap holder 20 At the free end 19 of the cap carrier 15 there is a cap holder 20 in the form of a suction device 21 which can be pressurized, with which, depending on the pressurization or ventilation, a cap K can be received and held or released via a corresponding line connection 22.
  • a pneumatic cylinder 23 and a linear cylinder 24 serve as a return drive for driving the carriage 12, and to control these drives and also the pneumatic cylinder 13, the carriage 12 interacts with control switches 25, which are only indicated, the carriage moving from a takeover position to receiving a cap into a starting position, in which one is waiting for a container to be encapsulated, then along a press-on zone for the actual encapsulation to an end position in which the encapsulation has been completed and back again to the starting position.
  • the carriage 12 To encapsulate a container B, the carriage 12 is moved into its take-over position.
  • the lifting ram 13 is in its raised rest position, the cap carrier 15 being folded up as a result of the collision with the cap dispenser 8 and with its cap holder 20 lying over a cap K present in the cap dispenser 8 (dash-dotted representation in FIG. 2).
  • This cap K is now applied to the holder 20 by applying a vacuum to the suction device 21 fixed and the carriage 12 advanced by actuating the pneumatic cylinder 23 from the takeover position to the starting position.
  • the cap carrier 15 folds down and assumes a waiting position in which the cap K projects into the conveying area of the longitudinal conveyor 3 (solid representation in FIG. 2).
  • the container B to be encapsulated is brought up continuously via the longitudinal conveyor 3, the container edge first lifting the cap K with the cap carrier 15 briefly until it slides over the edge and swivels into the recess on the container top in the region of the fitting F, so that now the fitting F hooks into the cap K held in a corresponding tilt position.
  • the carriage 12 is carried along by the container B in the conveying direction, whereby the fitting F and the lifting ram 13 with the cap K move forward uniformly with one another.
  • the pneumatic cylinder 13 of the lifting ram is activated via a control switch 25 and this presses the cap K onto the fitting F when the cap carrier 15 is folded in.
  • the carriage 12 is without drive and only becomes carried along the longitudinal conveyor 8, the carriage lifting off the pneumatic cylinder 23.
  • a soft counter spring 26 can be provided, which loads the carriage 12 against the direction of conveyance and ensures that the cap and fitting fit securely and correctly during the pressing-on phase.
  • the carriage 12 has reached its end position, whereupon the return drive is switched on via a further control switch 25, which brings the carriage 12 back into the take-over position, with the carriage after the press-on zone the pneumatic cylinder 23 is also pushed back into the starting position.
  • the cap carrier 15 is folded up and the cap holder 20 is located in the area of the cap dispenser 8 into which a new cap K has slipped.
  • the suction device 21 has been subjected to negative pressure, the next encapsulation process can begin.
  • the cap pressing device 5 traveling with the longitudinal conveyor 3 during the press-on zone, there is practically no tilting load for the container B to be encapsulated during encapsulation, so that the device 1 is suitable for any container B.
  • the cap carrier 15 in the starting position of the slide 12 must be in the correct position adapted to the respective container height so that the respective container fitting F can hook into the cap K prepared in the cap holder 20.
  • a support frame 28 of the frame 2 which is height-adjustable via a spindle drive 27, on which the essential parts of the cap pressing device 5, in particular the slide 12 together with the drive and the like.
  • the cap holder 8 being connected to an end piece 7a which interacts telescopically with the rest of the feeder channel 7.
  • the device 1 according to the invention is distinguished by its functionally reliable, high-performance operation and, in addition, by its area of application, which covers a wide variety of containers and container closures.
