Definitions

  • the invention relates to the use of a copper-aluminum alloy with manganese and iron as further constituents for the production of nickel-free everyday objects, in particular glasses, jewelry, cutlery, donrdashery, etc., which do not trigger any allergic reactions.
  • Spectacle parts are to be understood in particular as spectacle arms, spectacle frames, eye edge profiles and spectacle hinges.
  • Nickel-free copper alloys should be able to replace conventional nickel-containing alloys such as nickel silver (such as CuNil8Zn20). This can be achieved if the properties of the alternative nickel-free alloys meet or can be surpassed the requirements that are also placed on the nickel-containing alloys.
  • a good alloy of glasses is sufficient high mechanical strength (tensile strength> 600 MPa, hardness 180 to 300 HV), sufficient softening temperature (after brief annealing for 30 seconds at 650 ° C at least 150 HV), an attractive appearance and good polishability expected. Esp. the softening behavior is of interest since the parts of the glasses should still have residual hardnesses of> 150 HV after connection work with hard solder.
  • the invention is therefore based on the object of proposing a copper alloy for the abovementioned use which, with inexpensive producibility and sufficient mechanical parameters, has no nickel.
  • EP-A-568 094 is a non-ferrous metal alloy for jewelry and metal objects with more than 5.0 to 15.00% Mn, 4.0 to 7.50% Al, 1.0 to 2.80% Fe, the rest Cu known.
  • EP-A-532 929 describes a layer for the production of jewelry and spectacle frames with 86.0 to 90.0% Cu, 2.8 to 4.5% Al, 0.4 to 1.3% Mn, 1.0 up to 2.5% Fe 0 to 0.5% Si, rest Zn known.
  • Alloys of 2 to 10% aluminum, up to about 8% manganese, chromium, iron and / or cobalt, alone or in groups, the rest of copper are known from DE-PS 757,956, but these alloys are used for the production of objects with high Long-term fatigue strength, such as of pipes for preheaters on ships, turbine blades, sea water-cooled mufflers, etc. Like. Used.
  • the alloy can be derived from the known ⁇ / ⁇ multicomponent aluminum bronzes CuA110NiFe (alloy designation according to DIN 17.665) by replacing manganese with the element nickel and reducing aluminum so that there is only an ⁇ -phase structure for further processing of the pressed semi-finished product.
  • Iron is present as Fe particles because of its poor solubility.
  • the alloy can be conventionally continuously cast and hot pressed.
  • Hot-pressed semi-finished products, such as wires can be cold-formed sufficiently well for optical wire production because of the ⁇ -phase-free structure that is always present after the hot-pressing process.
  • Iron has a grain refining effect, so that a smooth surface desirable for optical quality can be drawn.
  • the average grain size in wire sections recrystallized at 700 ° C. is 10 ⁇ m. After temper hardening at 300 to 400 ° C, the softening starts at 500 ° C, but at 700 ° C, residual hardnesses of HV 10 out of 200 are still registered if the annealing time does not exceed 30 seconds. This short-term annealing is intended to simulate the temperature conditions during the connection work with hard solder between 620 and 680 ° C. After 3 hours of annealing at 750 ° C, residual hardnesses of 150 are still measured.
  • the use of a copper alloy according to the compositions according to claims 2 to 4 is recommended.
  • the optional addition of lead is essential for machining in the manufacture of everyday items.
