- This invention refers to internal combustion engines for motor vehicles provided with an electric starter and a current generator.
- One of the primary requirements in the designing of motor vehicles, in particular for so called “city cars”, is to reduce the overall weight of the vehicle so that it can be driven using less power and therefore with less fuel consumption and less pollution.
- the aim of this invention is to combine in a single electronic device the functions of the starter and of the current generator, simplifying at the same time the connection system to the combustion engine, as shown in document US-A-5 097 140. This and other aims are reached with an internal combustion engine according to claim 1.

- Both components (14, 22) are cup shaped, positioned with their cavities facing each other and both components have an internal peripheral frontal rim, respectively (32) and (33), which cooperate to form, in counter rotation, a labyrinth seal for the protection of the motor (20).

Claims (7)
- Verbrennungsmotor (1) für Kraftfahrzeuge, die mit einem Anlasser und einem Stromgenerator ausgestattet sind, der aus einem bürstenlosen Permanentmagnet-Elektromotor besteht, dessen Rotor (27) direkt auf die kurbelwelle(3) koaxial aufgekeilt ist,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
der Stator (18) des Elektromotors ein kreisförmiges schalenförmiges Gehäuse (14) ist, das direkt am Motorblock gegenüber dem Ende, das zum Getriebe weist, befestigt ist. - Motor nach Anspruch 1,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
der Rotor (27) ein kreisförmiges, schalenförmiges Gehäuse (22) ist. - Motor nach Anspruch 1,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
der Rotor (27) und der Stator (18) einen inneren vorderen Rand (32, 33) haben, die gegenläufig in einer Labyrinthdichtung zusammenwirken. - Motor nach Anspruch 1,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
der Stator eines der Gehäuse des Motorblocks des Verbrennungsmotors ist. - Motor nach Anspruch 4,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
der Rotor Vorsprünge hat, die in regelmäßigen Abständen auf seiner Außenfläche angeordnet sind. - Motor nach Anspruch 1,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
der Rotor auf seiner Außenfläche durch spanende Bearbeitung ausgebildete Vierkantzähne hat. - Motor nach Anspruch 5 und 6,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
ein Sensor, der den Durchgang der Vorsprünge bzw. Zähne erfassen kann, am Stator befestigt ist.
