Definitions
- the present invention relates to the construction of buildings, and in particular interior or exterior partitions comprising glass bricks.
- Glass bricks have been used for a long time in the construction of buildings, to form parts of partitions transparent or translucent.
- the traditional mode of use consists of stacking the glass bricks on top of each other with a mortar joint.
- Such use requires manpower qualified, because it is difficult to achieve regular joints in thickness and appearance. It is also necessary to mount the bricks on the site, without possibility of prefabrication.
- US-A-2 239 537 describes another brick wall structure of glass, the bricks being inserted in a structure comprising horizontal metal bands with elastic curved edges, and vertical reinforcement strips in various materials.
- the bricks are held directly by the elastic curved edges, which are then kept apart by putty.
- Putty is also forced between the vertical faces of adjacent bricks.
- Such a structure is not dismountable and reusable without renewal of the material, in particular of putty.
- this solution requires long operations and complex on the site itself, and does not provide easily a satisfactory and lasting aesthetic appearance.
- a difficulty results from the fact that a wall must present an acceptable aesthetic character.
- wall parts separating adjacent bricks must have an appearance exterior pleasing to the eye, and the use of noble materials such as quality wood, metal, material plastic. This results in a relatively high production cost if the noble material constitutes the entire cell chassis.
- DE-A-33 09 463 constituting the state of the art corresponding to the preamble of claim 1 appended, describes elements for brick partitions of glass, comprising chassis plates forming a chassis structure transverse with completely open cells on two opposite sides and shaped to each receive a glass brick, said elements comprising glazing beads of shaped section for fixing so removable and interchangeable on opposite edges of chassis plates around the openings of said cells and to overlap on the edge of the glass bricks to hold them.
- the problem proposed by the present invention is to design a new structure of glass brick partition elements, in which the chassis elements provide both aesthetic appearance pleasing to the eye and effective maintenance of the bricks of glass inside the cells.
- Another object of the invention is to design such a structure with glass brick partition elements which can be easily assembled by an inexperienced user, preferably without using special tools.
- An advantage of the invention is that such a structure of elements glass brick bulkhead can be more easily transported or stored in the form of elements packaged in a smaller volume, and that it can be dismantled in whole or in part and can be reassembled without any additional material such as a putty. It’s easy to change all or part of the glass bricks, either for reasons of breakage or degradation, either for reasons of aesthetic modifications.
- the idea which is the basis of the invention consists in ensuring the holding the glass bricks inside their cells by glazing beads reported on the edges of the chassis elements. Glazing beads are the only elements visible from the outside. As a result, the internal chassis structure can be made of a non-material noble, only the glazing beads to be made of more noble materials and pleasing to the eye. Such glazing beads should be easy to lay, and must ensure a very effective maintenance of the glass bricks.
- the elements for glass brick partitions according to the present invention include chassis elements forming a open cell chassis structure on two opposite sides and glazing beads of shaped section to be removably attached and interchangeable on the opposite edges of the chassis elements around the openings of said cells and to overlap on the edge of glass bricks, the frame elements being designed to constitute cells in which the bricks can be received with low clearance and interchangeably, and being held there by said glazing beads, and the frame elements being of composite material such as reconstituted wood while the glazing beads are made of another material having appropriate aesthetic characteristics.
- the elements of chassis include two series of parallel notched plates, assembled perpendicular to each other half-timbered.
- chassis elements according to the invention form a chassis structure 1 with rectangular or square cells, such as cell 2, cells being adjacent and aligned, separated by planar walls such as wall 3.
- This chassis structure 1 is formed from two series of parallel plates, namely plates 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 in the figure forming the first series B of plates, and plates 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 forming the second series A of plates.
- the plates of the first series B of plates are assembled to the plates of the second series A of plates by a semi-wood type assembly, as shown in the FIG. 2.
- the plate 3 includes notches such as the notch 13, and the plate 9 includes notches such as the notch 14, the notches 13 and 14 having a depth equal to half the width of a plate, and fitting into each other as shown in the figure.
- the first face 15 of the chassis is lined with glazing beads 16 and 17, covering the edges of the elements of chassis on this first face 15.
- the chassis wall 20 separates two glass bricks 18 and 21.
- the walls of chassis such as the wall 20, in this embodiment, have a width substantially equal to the depth of the glass bricks, so that their edges come flush with the outside faces glass bricks.
- Glazing bead 17 includes a rib longitudinal intermediate 22 engaging forcefully in a groove 23 the corresponding edge of the chassis element such as the plate 20.
- the lateral edges 24 and 25 of the glazing bead 17 overlap on the corresponding edges of the glass bricks 18 and 21, to maintain the glass bricks in their respective cells.
- Glazing bead 17 then has a T-shaped section, as shown in the figure.
- a second similar glazing beads must be engaged on the second opposite edge 26 of the plate 20, second edge 26 on which the groove is distinguished 27 to receive the corresponding bead rib.
- the plate 120 has a width greater than the depth of the glass bricks 18 or 21.
- the glazing bead 117 has two lateral ribs 118 and 119 coming to bear on the edges of the corresponding outer faces of the respective glass bricks 21 and 18.
- the ribs side 118 and 119 can also be forcibly engaged on the corresponding side faces 121 and 122 of the plate 120.
- Such a glazing bead 117 may or may not include a longitudinal intermediate rib such as the rib 22 engaging in a corresponding groove from plate 120.
- the plate 220 has a width less than the depth of the glass bricks 18 and 21.
- the glazing bead 217 then has an elongated body to compensate for the difference between the width of the plate 220 and the depth of the glass bricks 18 and 21, as shown in the figure, the two wings lateral 224 and 225 of the glazing bead 217 bearing on the edges of the outer faces of the glass bricks 18 and 21 to ensure their maintenance.
- the glazing bead 217 is also provided with a rib 222 engaging in force in a corresponding groove in the song of the plate 220.
- the glazing beads can advantageously be designed to be maintain in force on the corresponding edges of the elements of frame.
- the glazing beads can also be glued, riveted, nailed or stapled to the corresponding chassis elements.
- a wall according to the invention may include glazing beads two types according to a first type, the glazing beads are rods of great length such as rods 30, 31, 32, and 33, to occupy the entire edge length of the plates of the first series of plates.
- the glazing beads are small rods length such as rod 34, to occupy the edge length second series of plates between two large rods successive lengths such as rods 30 and 31.
- the chassis elements formed by the two series of plates can therefore be made of composite material at a lower price, for example in reconstituted wood, while the glazing beads are in one other material with appropriate aesthetic characteristics.
- the glazing beads can be varnished, painted or decorated in various ways, without having to varnish, paint or decorate the plates forming the internal chassis elements.
