Abstract

A tamper-proof closure for containers or the like comprises a cap part (1) which can be fixed on the container neck and has a tamper-proof ring (2) attached via a multiplicity of webs (3) distributed over the circumference. The webs (3) are tearable in the case of a relative movement between the cap part (1) and the tamper-proof ring (2), said tamper-proof ring (2) having first projection means (13) which, during the initial fixing of the closure on the container neck (6), move into a position engaging below a radial annular collar (14) on the container neck in order to prevent movement of the tamper-proof ring (2) away from the container. Second projection means (15) provided on the tamper-proof ring (2) can be brought into contact with a surface (16) of the annular collar (14) facing away from an engaging surface when the first projection means (13) have moved into the position engaging below the annular collar (14) in order to limit the movement of the tamper-proof ring (2) in the direction away from the cap part (1). The axial spacing between the first and second projection means (13, 15) is such that the annular collar (14) can be received with basically free axial movement between the first and second projection means (13, 15). <IMAGE>

Description

Die Erfindung betrifft einen Originalitätsverschluss für Behälter gemäss Oberbegriff des Patentanspruches 1.The invention relates to a tamper-evident closure for containers according to the preamble of claim 1.

As a disadvantage of such known closures, it has been found that the webs which connect the cap part to the tamper evident ring often tear prematurely when the closure is first attached to a container to be sealed. It has therefore already been proposed (US-A-4 907 708) to form cooperating projection means on the container neck and tamper-evident ring so that the tamper-evident ring is forcibly fixed in both axial directions with respect to the container neck and is therefore also prevented from moving axially relative to the cap part. A basic prerequisite for the functioning of such an arrangement is the precise maintenance of the relative positions of the fixing means on the cap part and the container neck. This means a correspondingly high manufacturing effort and thus higher rejects of defective parts. There is also a risk that the webs and / or the originality ring may be permanently compressed or deformed in an undefined manner.

In the context of the invention, it was found that the premature tearing is caused by a momentary overstretching of the webs, which occurs when the tamper-evident ring wants to spring back into the original configuration after passing through the ring collar on the neck of the container. The problems associated with conventional tamper-evident closures of the type in question can therefore be solved in a surprisingly simple and effective manner according to the characterizing part of patent claim 1 by arranging the projection means in such a way that they prevent the tamper-evident ring from moving to any extent Direction can move away from the cap part when the tamper-evident ring, after it has passed the ring collar of the container neck, springs back suddenly into the starting position, so that the length to which the webs can stretch or stretch under these circumstances is limited. Within these limits, however, the axial mobility of the tamper-evident ring is fundamentally not restricted, so that it is ensured that the tamper-evident ring and the webs can spring back freely into a tension-free state. If desired, according to a further development of the invention, provision can also be made for the webs to be relieved only to such an extent that a slight compression remains, which may be desired. The measures according to the invention can be implemented with relatively little production effort and, moreover, do not require any changes to the containers with which the closures are used. With regard to other developments of the invention, reference is made to the subclaims.

Fig. 1
in teilweise geschnittener Seitenansicht einen erfindungsgemäss aufgebauten Originalitätsverschluss,
Fig. 2
The invention is explained below with reference to the drawing and an embodiment. Show it:
Fig. 1
a tamper-evident closure constructed according to the invention in a partially sectioned side view,
Fig. 2
on an enlarged scale, a detail of the closure according to FIG. 1 together with a fragmentary neck of a container.

Fig. 2. As shown in FIG. 1, the closure basically comprises a cap part 1 and an originality ring 2, which is connected to the cap part 1 via webs 3. A screw thread 5 is provided on the inner circumference of the cap part 1, which corresponds to a complementary screw thread on the neck 6 of a container (not shown), cf. Fig. 2. If desired, a sealing cone can be formed on the bottom wall 7 of the cap part 1, which can engage sealingly in the mouth opening of the container neck 6. A suitable corrugation 8 can be provided on the outside of the cap part 1 for easier handling of the closure when screwing on and off on or from the container neck 6.

The webs 3 extend essentially axially between a lower end face 9 of the cap part 1 and an upper end face 10 of the tamper-evident ring 2 and keep the two end faces 9, 10 at a suitable short distance A from one another when the closure is in the position shown in FIG. 1 shown rest or starting position, which also corresponds to the position in which the closure is manufactured.

A suitable plurality of webs 3 is provided distributed over the circumference. Each web 3 has a design which enables tearing under a certain axial force acting between the cap part 1 and the tamper-evident ring 2, which can be applied when trying to unscrew the cap part 1 by hand when the closure is fully screwed onto the container neck 6.

Rectangular recesses 11 are also provided in two or more regions of the tamper-evident ring 2 which are provided in a circumferentially distributed manner. B. trapezoidal driver elements 12, which protrude from the lower end face 9 of the cap part 1 down to prevent relative rotation of the tamper-evident ring 2 relative to the cap part 1 when the closure is first screwed onto the container neck 6. In particular, the anti-rotation device created by the recesses 11 and driver elements 12 prevents the webs 3 from being sheared to an extent that could lead to the webs 3 breaking prematurely.

In the area of the axial end of the tamper-evident ring 2 facing away from the cap part 1, an annular projection or bead 13 is formed, which extends circumferentially of the tamper-evident ring 2 and encloses an opening with an inner diameter that is smaller than the outer diameter of an annular collar 14 on the container neck 6. Therefore, if the closure is screwed onto the container neck 6 and the ring bead 13 of the tamper-evident ring 2 thereby comes into the region of the ring collar 14 of the container neck 6, the tamper-evident ring 2 undergoes radial expansion when the closure is actuated further, so that it extends along the ring collar 14 get into the position shown in Fig. 2 can, in which the annular bead 13 engages under the collar 14 and the tamper-evident ring 2 is springed back into the starting position. The interrelated relationship between the annular bead 15 and the annular collar 13 has the effect that the tamper-evident ring 2 is prevented from moving axially away from the container, so that the cap part 1 can only be unscrewed from the container neck 6 after the webs 3 have torn. The structure of the closure described above is basically known.

According to the invention, in addition to the first projection means in the form of the annular bead 13 on the inside of the tamper-evident ring 2, a second projection means 15 in the form of a plurality of circumferentially distributed elongate projection elements is provided. The second projection means 15 could, however, also be designed similarly to the first projection means 13 or in the form of inward protruding warts or knobs. The first and second projection means 13, 15 are at a suitable axial distance from one another such that an outer peripheral region of the annular collar 14 can in principle be accommodated in a freely axially movable manner when the closure according to FIG. 2 is screwed completely onto the container neck 6. Like the first projection means 13, the second projection means 15 define an opening, the inside diameter of which is smaller than the outside diameter of the collar 14.

As further shown in FIG. 2, the ring collar 14 has on its upper side facing away from the container a conical transition surface area 16 which diverges in the direction of the container and along which a lower conical guide surface 17 can slide on the annular bead 13 of the tamper-evident ring 2, to the radial expansion of the tamper-evident ring 2 at Screwing the closure on the container neck 6 to facilitate.

The second projection means 15 can be supported on the transition surface area 16 if, according to FIG. 2, the annular bead 13 of the tamper-evident ring 2 has reached a position in which it engages under the annular collar 14 of the container neck 6. The second projection means 15 prevent excessive axial expansion of the webs 3, as can occur when the closure is unscrewed for the first time, when the tamper-evident ring 2 springs back suddenly into the starting position after the annular bead 13 has passed the annular collar 14.

The axial position of a central contact point P along the contact zone between the transition surface area 16 of the annular collar 14 and the second projection means 15 is preferably selected such that the webs 3 are not completely axially relieved when the closure is completely screwed on, but are slightly compressed, so that the distance A 'between the opposite end faces 9, 10 of the cap part 1 or tamper-evident ring 2 is slightly less than the distance A between these end faces in the starting position of the closure shown in FIG. 1. However, the invention is not limited to such mutual coordination of the axial positions of the collar 14 and the second projection means 15. Rather, the effects according to the invention can also be achieved if the axial position of the second projection means 15 allows the webs 3 to be completely reformed into the starting position according to FIG. 1, provided that it is ensured that the webs 3 prevent substantial axial expansion beyond the starting position will.

Furthermore, at least part of the plurality of webs 3 is preferably provided on circumferential areas of the tamper-evident ring 2, which correspond to the circumferential positions of the second projection means 15.

It goes without saying that instead of a continuous annular bead 13 also other suitable first projection means, e.g. divided elongated projection elements can be provided. Furthermore, instead of fastening the closure to the container neck by means of a screw thread arrangement, it can also be provided that the closure is axially bounced onto the container neck, devices in the form of e.g. cams sliding on each other between the cap part and e.g. an inner cap can be provided, which bring about an axial forced movement of the cap part when a rotational force is exerted thereon in a specific direction of rotation.
