- Box bounded by a wall and comprising:- an opening (11),- a rim (40) that surrounds the opening;- a door (57) for closing the opening, which door is pivotally mounted along the said rim (40) about a hinge pin (58);- a first hinge element (46) that is mounted on the rim (40); and- a second hinge element (33) that is fixed relative to the door (57) and is designed to co-operate with the first hinge element;characterised in that:- the first hinge element (46) comprises a member of U-shaped cross-section that has a base (54) and two wings (53, 48), one of the wings (48) having hinge-forming means (51);- the said rim (40) consists of a shaped section that has a base (42), at least a first wing (44) that extends perpendicularly to the base, and a first folded-back portion (45) along the face of the wing that is turned towards the base (42); and- the first hinge element (46) is accommodated in the rim (40) in such a manner that its base (54) bears against the base (42) of the rim and its wing (53) that is remote from the said hinge-forming means extends and is gripped between the wing (44) of the rim and the said first folded-back portion (45).
- Box according to claim 1, wherein the said first folded-back portion (45) is an extension of the said first wing (44) of the rim (40), and the said rim comprises a second wing (43) that is opposite to the first wing (44) and is a second folded-back portion of a lateral face (41) of the box, that second folded-back portion extending towards a rear face of the box opposite to the opening (11) and being adjacent to the said lateral face.
- Box according to claim 2, wherein the box is made from a sheet having had prior finishing treatment, the base (54) of the first hinge element (46) being attached by adhesion to the base (42) of the rim (40).
- Box according to claim 1, wherein the said first folded-back portion (5) consists of an extension of a lateral face (4) of the box, which extension extends towards a rear face of the box opposite to the opening (11) and along the said lateral face.
- Box according to claim 4, wherein the rim comprises a second wing (18) opposite to the first wing (12) and against which there bears the said wing (21) of the hinge element (14) that has the said hinge-forming means (24).
- Box according to claim 4 or claim 5, wherein the base (15) of the hinge element (14) is, in addition, fixed by spot-welding along the base (8) of the rim (40).
- Method of assembling a hinge element (46) on a box according to any one of the preceding claims, the box being bounded by a wall and comprising an opening (11) and a rim (40) that surrounds the opening, the first hinge element (46) comprising a member of U-shaped cross-section that has a base (54) and two wings (53, 48), one of the wings (48) having hinge-forming means (51), the said rim (40) consisting of a shaped section that has a base (42) and at least a first wing (44) that extends perpendicularly to the base, and a first folded-back portion (45) that runs, with clearance, along the face of the wing that is turned towards the base (42), the hinge element (46) being designed to co-operate with another hinge element (33) that is fixed relative to a door (57) that allows the opening (11) to be closed, characterised in that:- the hinge element (46) is introduced into the rim (40) at one end thereof and is slid along the rim in such a manner that the base (54) of the hinge element bears against the base (42) of the rim and its wing (53) that is remote from the said hinge-forming means extends between the wing (44) of the rim and the said first folded-back portion (45); and- the hinge element (46) is crimped to the rim (40) by bringing the folded-back portion (45) of the rim to bear on the wing (53) of the hinge element.
- Method according to claim 7 in which the said first folded-back portion (45) consists of an extension of the said first wing (44) of the rim (40) and the said rim comprises a second wing (43) that is opposite to the first wing (44) and is a second folded-back portion of a lateral face (41) of the box, that second folded-back portion extending towards a rear face of the box opposite to the opening (11) and being adjacent to the said lateral face, and in which the box is made from a sheet that has had prior finishing treatment, which method is characterised in that, before the introduction of the first hinge element into the rim (40), glue is spread on one face of the base (54) of the first hinge element (46), which face is applied to the base (42) of the rim (40).
- Method according to claim 7 in which the box comprises, on the one hand, a hood (1) of U-shaped section having an upper face (2) and two lateral faces (3, 4) and, on the other hand, a base (6) of a general U-shaped section having a lower face (7), a front face (8) and a rear face (9), the front face (8) comprising the said opening (11), the front face (8) and the rear face (9) of the base (6) being inclined towards the inside of the latter with respect to a plane that is perpendicular to its lower face (7), each face of the hood having along one end edge a folded-back portion (5) whilst each face of the base (6) has free sides along which a flange (12) extends at right angles towards the outside of the box, the base of the said rim that surrounds the opening (11) being formed by the front face (8) of the base (6), the first wing of that rim being formed by the said flange (12) that is perpendicular to the front face (8), and its first folded-back portion being formed by the said folded-back portion (5) of the hood,
which method is characterised in that it includes the following stages:- covering the base (6) with the hood (1) in such a manner that the flanges (12) of the former are opposite to the folded-back portions (5) of the latter;- deforming the base (6) by pivoting its front face (8) and its rear face (9) towards a position perpendicular to its lower face (7) so that the flanges (12) penetrate the folded-back portions (5);- introducing the hinge element (14) into the said rim that surrounds the opening (11); and- crimping all the flanges (12) of the base (6) in the folded-back portions (5) of the hood (1).
