Definitions

  • the present invention relates to washing machines and in particular those with top loading.
  • An object of the present invention is to provide a device for stopping the drum hatch at the top which is not very noisy and entirely reliable.
  • a drum stop device which can take a rest position, a position to intercept a finger secured to the drum (or any other part rotating with the drum), and a corresponding final position. at the desired position of the drum.
  • the rotary part is driven by a motor whose power on and off are controlled by a switch cooperating with a cam of the rotary part. At the end of a washing cycle, the rotary part is brought from the rest position to the intercept position where the finger of the drum is capable of engaging in a notch in the rotary part.
  • the drive motor of the rotating part In the interception position, the drive motor of the rotating part is stopped and the drum drive motor is rotated at slow speed in a predetermined direction, the energization of the drum motor being controlled by a second switch cooperating with a second cam of the rotating part.
  • the finger engages in the notch and spreads the rotating part towards its final position.
  • the drum motor is switched off, but the drum continues to rotate by inertia.
  • a brake acts on the rotating part at least between the intercept position and the final position and is provided so that the drum is stopped before the final position of the rotating part.
  • the rotating part under the action of the drum, stops in an intermediate position between the interception position and the final position.
  • the motor of the rotating part is started again to drive the rotating part to its final position while driving the drum to its stopped position.
  • the finger interception notch has a shape such that the finger remains trapped in the notch as soon as the rotating part has started to move away from its interception position in the direction of its final position.
  • the present invention relates more particularly to a stop device at a predetermined position of a drum fitted with a finger, driven by a motor to perform cycles of rotation in at least one predetermined direction around a first axis integral with a frame.
  • This device comprises a rotating part around a second axis parallel to the first and integral with the frame, capable of assuming a rest position, an interception position of said finger and a final position; a first cam of the rotary part cooperating with a first switch for, in the interception position, starting the drum motor in the predetermined direction and for switching off the motor as soon as the rotary part moves towards the position final with respect to its interception position; a brake acting on the rotating part, at least between the interception position and the final position; and a second motor actuated by a second switch cooperating with a second cam of the rotary part to bring the latter from the rest position to the interception position and to bring it to the final position as soon as it is moved towards the final position relative to its interception position.
  • the rotary part is driven by an output pinion of a reduction gear coupled to the second motor, this pinion being provided with a torque limiter forming said brake.
  • the rotating part is provided with a lever comprising a notch for intercepting said finger, this notch having a shape such that, at the interception position, the finger is capable of engaging in the notch and moving the rotating part away from its interception position in the direction of its final position; and when the rotating part is spaced apart by the finger, a wall of the notch opposes the return back of the finger.
  • the torque limiter of said pinion comprises the pinion not secured in rotation to an axis of the reduction gear, two washers, integral in rotation with the axis of the reduction gear, axially compressing the pinion under the stress of axially elastic washers .
  • the inertia of the assembly comprising the reduction gear and the second motor is such that the torque limiter acts before the second motor is rotated by a significant value under the action of the finger on the rotating part.
  • said lever is provided at its end with an elastic part which, if the finger is in a critical position which would block the passage of the rotating part from the rest position to the interception position, flexes by so that the finger can be pushed by the movement of the lever.
  • a finger 10 is capable of describing a circular trajectory T.
  • the finger 10 is integral with a drum, not shown, of a washing machine or any other part linked in rotation to the drum, such as a pulley drive.
  • the finger 10 is of cylindrical shape and extends parallel to the axis, not shown, of the drum. This axis is integral with a frame of the washing machine.
  • FIG. 1A of the device according to the invention comprises a base plate 12 fixed to the same frame which is integral with the axis of the drum.
  • This plate 12 comprises an axis 14 parallel to the axis of the drum, around which a rotary part 16 is articulated.
  • This rotary part 16 comprises a part 17 having the general shape of a disc (hereinafter called disc 17) and a lever 18 comprising a first side substantially radial to the disc 17 and a second side substantially tangential to the disc.
  • the device is located at the top left of the circle T and the lever 18 extends substantially upwards from the right part of the disc 17.
  • the tangential side of the lever 18 comprises, near the distal end of the lever, a notch 18-1 used to capture the finger 10 of the drum when the rotating part is in an intercept position described later.
  • the rotating part 16 is capable of taking three positions, namely, a rest position shown in the Figure 1A; an interception position of the finger 10, shown in Figure 2 described later; and a final position corresponding to the desired position of the drum shown in Figure 3 described later.
  • the rotating part 16 is brought to its various positions by an adequately controlled motor, as described later. It is driven from its interception position to its final position, first by finger 10 while braking this finger, then by the aforementioned motor. On reaching its final position, the rotating part drives the finger 10 which is then trapped in the notch 18-1.
  • the rotary part 16 has several superimposed levels, namely a first level comprising the lever 18, two additional levels corresponding respectively to a cam 20 shown in solid lines and to a cam 21 shown in dotted lines, and finally a fourth level corresponding to a toothing 22, the primitive circle of which is shown in phantom.
  • the teeth 22 serve to drive the rotary part 16 by a pinion 24 coupled to a motor via a reduction gear.
  • the motor and the reduction gear are arranged behind the plate 12 and are not visible in FIG. 1A.
  • the cam 20 comprises two large diameter parts, or bumps 20-1 and 20-2, juxtaposed and separated by a small diameter part, or hollow 20-3, of a few degrees.
  • the cam 21 includes a bump 21-1 of a few degrees. We will see later how to define the positions and the lengths of the hollows and bumps of the cams 20 and 21.
  • the cams 20 and 21 make it possible to identify the different positions of the rotary part 16. They replace conventional arrangements with position marking stops which cause noisy operation when moving parts come into abutment.
  • FIG. 1B represents an embodiment of the brake intended to brake the rotating part 16 when it intercepts the finger 10 of the drum.
  • this brake is produced in the form of a torque limiter associated with the pinion 24.
  • the pinion 24 comprises a thin central zone provided on either side with annular projecting friction zones.
  • the pinion 24 is not integral in rotation with the axis 32 of the outlet of the abovementioned reduction gear 34.
  • hard steel washers 36 and 37 sandwiching the central part of the pinion 24, are integral in rotation with the axis 32.
  • the axis 32 is of square section, as can be seen in FIG. 1A, and the washers 36 and 37 include a corresponding square hole.
  • the braking or torque limiting effect is obtained by washers 38 with axial elasticity, such as so-called “Belleville” washers, bearing between a shoulder of the axle 32 and the washer 37, the washer 36 coming into abutment against a washer 40 held by a screw 42 screwed at the end of the axis 32.
  • the position shown in Figure 1A corresponds to the rest position of the stop device.
  • the lever 18 is in a position away from the path T of the finger 10 and the drum can rotate freely. This rest position is determined by the start of the hump 20-1 of the cam 20, which actuates the switch 29 by means of the lever 26.
  • the rotating part 16 At the end of a washing cycle, the rotating part 16 must be brought to a position for intercepting the finger 10, shown in FIG. 2.
  • the programmer of the washing machine will be provided to connect the switch 29 of such so that it energizes the pinion motor 24 when the switch is activated.
  • the switch 29 is activated in the position of FIG. 1A, the pinion 24 is rotated clockwise and drives the rotating part 16 anticlockwise towards the position d 'interception.
  • FIG. 2 represents the interception position of the stop device.
  • the notch 18-1 is on the path of the finger 10 so that the finger 10 can fully engage in this notch.
  • the feeler of the lever 26 is located in the hollow 20-3 of the cam 20, which deactivates the switch 29 by stopping the rotation of the pinion 24.
  • the feeler of the lever 27 is lifted by the hump 21-1 of the cam 21, which causes the actuation of the switch 30.
  • the active switch 30 starts the drum motor at slow speed in a direction indicated by an arrow on the path T.
  • the rotary part 16 When the finger 10 engages in the notch 18-1, the rotary part 16 is driven anticlockwise while being braked by the torque-limiting pinion 24. As soon as the rotary part 16 begins to be driven by the finger 10, the feeler of the lever 27 falls behind the hump 21-1 of the cam 21 by deactivating the switch 30. The drum motor is switched off. At the same time, the start of the bump 20-2 of the cam 20 activates the switch 29 and the motor of the pinion 24 is again started in a direction corresponding to the drive of the rotating part 16 in the opposite direction. clockwise, that is to say in the same drive direction caused by finger 10. However, as previously indicated, the corresponding speed of rotation of pinion 24 can be neglected in front of the initial speed imposed on the rotating part 16 by the drum. The braking effect is not affected.
  • the braking torque of the brake pinion 24 is chosen so that the machine drum is stopped, under average conditions, when the rotary part 16 reaches an intermediate position between the interception position of FIG. 2 and a final position, shown in Figure 3, corresponding to the desired position of the drum.
  • Figure 3 shows the final position of the stop device of the previous figures.
  • the finger 10 has driven the rotary part 16 towards an intermediate position between the interception position of FIG. 2 and the final position of FIG. 3.
  • the bump 20-2 of the cam 20 always actuates the switch 29 for rotating the pinion 24.
  • the rotary part 16 therefore continues to rotate anti-clockwise until the position of FIG. 3 where the feeler of the lever 26 falls behind the bump 20-2 by deactivating the switch 29.
  • the motor of the pinion 24 is switched off.
  • the notch 18-1 of adequate shape, drives the finger 10 to bring the drum back to the desired position, corresponding to this final position.
  • a person skilled in the art will know how to choose the distance between the notch 18-1 and the axis 14 as a function of the value of the slow speed of the drum to avoid an impact during braking of the drum.
  • the higher the slow speed of the drum the longer this distance must be chosen so that the drum is braked over a longer stroke.
  • this notch has a suitable shape.
  • the wall of the notch 18-1 furthest from the axis 14 is substantially parallel to the path, and the proximal wall of the notch 18-1 is directed so that, as soon as the rotary part 16 is moved to the final position by the finger 10, this proximal wall prevents the finger from going back.
  • the finger 10 is trapped in the notch 18-1 as soon as it has started to drive the rotary part 16.
  • the rotating part 16 remains in the final position, for example, until a new washing program has been started.
  • the programmer reverses the function of switch 29, that is, the switch 29 then energizes the motor of the pinion 24 when the switch is deactivated.
  • the feeler of the lever 26 is in a hollow in the cam 20, the switch 29 is deactivated, and the pinion 24 is put into rotation.
  • the rotating part 26 starts to turn anti-clockwise and rejoins the rest position of FIG. 1A where the start of the bump 20-1 actuates the switch 29 by means of the lever 26 in stopping the pinion motor 24.
  • the finger 10 can, at the end of a cycle, take a critical position depending on the shape of the lever. In this critical position, the finger 10 blocks the lever 18 when the rotary part 16 is brought from the rest position to the interception position. In a position other than the critical position, the finger 10 can be pushed by the lever 18 in one direction or the other and does not block the movement of the lever.
  • the role of the tongue 18-2 previously described is to avoid blocking of the lever 18 by the finger 10.
  • the length of the radial side of the lever 18 is chosen so that its distal end, corresponding to a corner of the tongue 18- 2, come up against the finger 10 when the latter is in the critical position.
  • the tongue 18-2 flexes.
  • the new shape that the lever 18 takes thanks to this bending of the tongue 18-2 corresponds to a critical position different from the current position of the finger 10. Consequently, the finger 10 can be pushed by the lever 18. It will be pushed back in rear by the end zone of the lever 18.
  • the present invention is susceptible of numerous variants and modifications which will appear to those skilled in the art, in particular as regards the production of the braking device.
  • the braking device instead of providing the braking device at the pinion 24, it can be provided in the same way between the teeth 22 of the rotating part 16 and the rest of the rotating part.
