Definitions

  • the present invention relates to tapes for electric fencing and, by extension, the present invention also relates to an electric net produced partially at least from such tapes.
  • An "electric fence” generally consists of an energizer which provides very short pulses, and conductors held in place, using insulators, on stakes.
  • These conductors can be in the form of wires, ribbons or nets.
  • the main advantage of the ribbons developed to date is that they are more visible. They are however of a high cost price and relatively fragile because of their composition and their method of manufacture.
  • the ribbons marketed to date are woven (see Figure 1) by assembling several plastic monofilaments of small diameter (in general strands of polyethylene from 0.15 to 0.25 mm) with a few conductive monofilaments (in general 0.15 to 0.25 mm diameter copper or stainless steel). These conductors, of too small diameter, are easily cut in a hostile environment when they are made of copper, and are bad conductors when they are made of stainless steel.
  • the ribbon chain consists of a large number of plastic wires, among which are arranged conducting wires.
  • one or more conductive wires are arranged so as to cross, with the formation of an electrical contact, said chain conductive wires.
  • An object of the present invention is to provide a tape for electric fencing having high mechanical strength and capable of ensuring electrical continuity in the event of a break in one or more points of the electrical conductors.
  • the subject of the invention is a tape for electric fencing of the type comprising a central core and at least one conductive wire, for example metallic, characterized in that said central core is a strip of extruded plastic, and in that said conductive wire is wound around the central core following a flattened helical trajectory.
  • the invention also relates to a net for electric fencing, characterized in that it comprises at least one tape for electric fencing as described above.
  • Fig. 1 which corresponds to a ribbon of known type, for example from document FR-A-2 628 603
  • the chain consists of plastic wires 1, 2, 3 and conductive wires 4, 5, 6, and the weft consists of plastic threads such as 7. All of these threads are fine for easy braiding and are therefore fragile.
  • a conductive monofilament of large diameter 8 surrounds along a trajectory resembling a flattened helix a strip of extruded plastic 9.
  • This embodiment has the advantage compared to traditional ribbons for electric fencing to be simpler to manufacture and therefore to be of a lower cost price with equal composition and quantity of material.
  • the central core consists of an extruded plastic strip 9, to which is attached a conductive metal wire 10, the whole being held by a second conductive metal wire 8 wound along the same type of path than in the previous embodiment.
  • the central core consists of an extruded plastic strip 9, to which are attached two conductive metal wires 10 and 11, one on each side, the whole being held by a conductive metal wire 8 wound on the same type of trajectory as in the previous cases.
  • Fig. 5 in a fourth embodiment of the invention, two conductive monofilaments 8, 12 of large or medium diameter, are wound around a strip of extruded plastic 9.
  • the winding is done for each of the wires 8, 12, according to the same type of trajectory as in the previous embodiment, but in opposite directions so as to cross by making electrical contact at each crossing point.
  • the use of large diameter conductors allows the invention to better resist electrical and mechanical attack, while existing woven ribbons are forced to confine themselves to small diameter conductors.
  • the fact that the conductors touch each other regularly keeps a reliable product in the event of a punctual break in a conductive wire, as there will be re-electrification from the next contact point.
  • the present invention also applies to electrical nets comprising one or more electrical tapes of the above type. These threads are also produced in a conventional manner, either by welding, or by knotting, or by stapling, or by any other process.
  • the invention makes it possible to preserve the good visibility of the traditional ribbon while considerably improving the mechanical and electrical properties of the fence conductor, and this with a lower cost price due to the simplicity of the manufacturing process.
