Definitions

  • the invention relates to an iron soleplate comprising a body heated by means of an electrical resistance and of which a so-called lower face is intended to be covered with an attached thin sheet which is fixed by crimping its edge on the peripheral edge of the body and the external face of which is intended to form an ironing surface.
  • An iron soleplate of this type is described in document US.A.1 674 092.
  • the thermal contact between the sole body and the crimped sheet is not always very good because there is a slight space between the underside of the body and the sheet.
  • a pasty and good conductive material of the heat such as, for example, a grease or an adhesive, which one has between the body and the sheet.
  • the disadvantage of this material is that it is expensive and deteriorates after a certain time, which affects the quality of ironing.
  • the invention aims to remedy these drawbacks and, in particular, to provide an iron soleplate in which the thermal contact between the body and the crimped sheet is particularly good and durable and the manufacturing cost of which is large. series be low.
  • the sheet initially has a slight camber directed towards the body and the underside of the body has a slight concavity, so that the sheet, once fixed on the body, is pressed against the underside of the body by elasticity. .
  • camber and the concavity are slightly accentuated so as not to harm the quality of ironing and the visual appearance of the sole remains unchanged since, once the sheet metal assembled on the body, the camber is practically invisible to the eye. bare.
  • a particularly economical sole is therefore obtained while having good ironing qualities.
  • Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of a sole body according to the invention
  • Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view of a sheet intended to be crimped onto the body of the sole according to the invention
  • FIG. 3 represents the body of the sole according to FIG. 1 on which the sheet is crimped according to FIG. 2.
  • the soleplate of iron has a body 1 ( Figures 1 and 3) heated by means of an electrical resistance 2 embedded in its mass.
  • the body 1 is made of a molded metallic material such as, for example, aluminum.
  • the body comprises, in a manner known per se, a vapor vaporization chamber 3 and a vapor distribution chamber 4 which is connected to vapor distribution orifices 5 of flared shape which pass through the body to open on its face. lower 6.
  • the lower face 6 is intended to be covered with an attached thin sheet 7 (FIGS. 2 and 3) which is fixed by crimping its edge 8 onto the peripheral edge 9 of the body and the external face 10 of which is intended to form an ironing surface.
  • the sheet 1 is a stamped part made of a metallic material such as, for example, chrome steel or stainless steel.
  • the lower face 6 of the body 1 has a slight concavity (as can be seen better in FIG. 1), and the sheet 7 initially has a slight camber directed towards the body 1 (as can be seen better on the figure 2).
  • the sheet 7, once fixed to the body 1 (FIG. 3) is pressed against the underside 6 of the body by elasticity, and very good mechanical and thermal contact is thus obtained between the sheet 7 and the body 1.
  • the space between the body and the sheet is eliminated.
  • the elasticity remains during the heating cycles.
  • the camber and the concavity are light enough to remain practically invisible to the naked eye and not to affect the quality of ironing.
  • the camber of the sheet 7 is significantly more accentuated than the concavity of the lower face 6 of the body 1.
  • the sheet 7 has holes 11 corresponding to the steam distribution orifices of the body 1 and the edges 12 of which are hemmed so as to penetrate into the flares of said orifices 5 during crimping.
  • the method of manufacturing an iron soleplate according to the invention is therefore particularly simple.
  • the body 1 of the sole is molded so that its lower face 6 is slightly concave; the sheet metal 7 is stamped so as to slightly arch it; the sheet is applied against the underside 6 of the body and it is crimped by its edge 8 on the peripheral edge 9 of the body 1.
  • This manufacturing process is particularly suitable for mass production.
