In Weiterentwicklung des Erfindungsgedankens sollen die für sich bekannten Lagesicherungen der Schwellen für ein Bahngleis im Schotterbett auch bei einer Zahnradbahn angewendet werden. In Ergänzung der bekannten Elemente sollen die als Profilstahl ausgebildeten Lagesicherungen nicht nur unter den Schwellenenden angeordnet sein, sondern auch die im Gabelabstand der Y-Schwelle angeordneten Schwellenenden miteinander verbinden. Dies hat den Vorteil, einer weiteren Versteifung des Gleiselementes und theoretisch mögliche, auf das Gabelende der Y-Schwelle wirkende Spreizkräfte können nicht auf die Befestigung der Halterung für die Zahnstange übertragen werden.
Die Lagesicherung mit ihrem hohen Querverschiebewiderstand sorgt natürlich auch für die bei Bergbahnen besonders zu fordernde Lagetreue des Gleiskörpers wegen der sonst gegebenen Absturzgefahr des Zuges oder Kollisionsgefahr mit den unmittelbar neben dem Lichtraumprofil der Bahn anzutreffenden Felswänden.

Unterhalb der Schienenauflager sind L-förmige Profile 10, 9 angeordnet, die der Schwelle eine erhöhte Lagesicherheit, insbesondere einen erhöhten Querverschiebewiderstand geben. Dabei ist die Lagesicherung 9 als Verbindungselement zwischen den Schwellenenden 2 und 3 ausgebildet. Auf der Oberseite der Schwelle etwa in Gleismitte ist die Halterung 8 mit den Stützen 11, 12 für die beiden parallelen Zahnstangen 13, 14 festgeschweißt.
