Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a device for filling a writing fluid-absorbing converter, which has an opening section in the form of the opening portion of a conventional ink cartridge, with a storage fluid receiving reservoir.
Converters are used to a considerable extent instead of writing fluid cartridges, in particular ink cartridges in writing instruments, such as fountain pens, which are designed per se for the use of writing fluid cartridges. While the writing fluid cartridges are thrown away after emptying, the converter enables refilling with the aid of a piston mechanism provided in it.
To fill converters, writing liquid containers provided with a screw cap have previously been used by immersing the opening section of the converter in the writing liquid present in the writing liquid container (DE-U 86 12 171). However, this has the disadvantage that the converter on the outside of the front end becomes dirty with writing fluid is so that the user must perform cleaning before inserting it into the writing instrument.
It is an object of the invention to provide a device with which converters can be filled in a simple manner and without contamination.
To achieve this object, a device of the type mentioned at the outset is designed in such a way that the storage container has a connecting piece for sealingly fitting the opening section of a converter and that in the interior of the storage container a tubular line section extends from the connecting piece at least to the vicinity of the bottom wall of the storage container .
In the device according to the invention, the converter can be sealingly connected to the storage container, so that writing fluid conveyed from the storage container into the converter cannot contaminate the outer wall of the converter. In addition, the writing liquid for the converter is withdrawn from the storage container via a tubular line section which extends close to the bottom wall of the storage container, so that it is not necessary to turn the storage container over for the filling process, which normally creates the risk of writing liquid escaping consists of the reservoir.
So that the inner end of the line section is on the one hand as close as possible to the bottom wall so that all writing fluid can be removed from the container, and on the other hand it is prevented that the inner opening of the line section interrupts the writing liquid delivery sealingly on the bottom wall of the storage container, the line section can in the area adjoining the connecting piece run coaxially to the latter, and an area whose free end can connect to this area of the connecting piece rests on the bottom wall of the storage container and runs inclined to it. In this way it is reliably prevented that there is a sealing connection between the bottom wall and the inner opening of the line section.
In order to prevent a negative pressure which adversely affects the suction of writing liquid from being drawn into the converter from the storage container into the converter in the storage container, the storage container can have an opening adjacent to the connecting piece. This can be of such a size that it can be used to fill a fountain pen, and it can be sealed by a releasably insertable closure part.
The tubular line section can form a capillary channel, so that the writing liquid in the line section is always kept close to the connecting piece even when the writing liquid level in the container drops.
The connecting piece and the optionally existing opening can be formed in a top wall of the storage container, which is formed in one piece with the remaining storage container. However, they are preferably part of a separate insert which is inserted into the opening area, for example the neck area, of the storage container and, with its peripheral edge, lies sealingly against the inner wall of the opening area. In this case, an annular surface can adjoin the peripheral edge of the insert, which rests on the outer end surface of the opening region when the insert is inserted into the opening region. Such an insert can consist of plastic.
Figur 1.
- Figure 1
- shows a perspective view of a storage container with a converter located above the container.
- Figure 2
- shows a section through the storage container from FIG. 1 closed with a screw cap.
The
An
The outer shape of the
To fill the
It should be mentioned that, of course, a fountain pen can also be filled through the
