Abstract

In a multi-layer label for sticking onto containers, the space for any information to be given can be increased by intermediate sheets (3) and reading can be facilitated preferably by the fact that the cover sheet (4) has a tear-off perforation (7) not only at its bonded right-hand edge region (5), but that the cover sheet (4) and the intermediate sheet (3) have tear-off perforations (13; 14) in the left-hand bonded edge region (8), by means of which perforations the sheets (3; 4) can be removed. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a multilayer label for sticking to containers, such as bottles, cans, consisting of a base sheet provided on the back with a layer of glue at the latest when labeling.

Such labels are necessary if longer printed or pictorial information has to be conveyed.

The label described at the beginning, which is on the market, consists of a strip folded into a cover sheet and a base sheet, the cover sheet being glued to the base sheet at the top and bottom and being provided with perforations parallel to these traces of glue on the inside, so that grasp the cover sheet on the right and tear it open. You can then open the cover sheet like the page of a book. However, these three printable pages are often not sufficient for the information to be conveyed.

The task is to create a multilayer label that offers more space for information.

According to EP-A-0 093 000, it was proposed that an information booklet be inserted between the cover sheet and the base sheet, which is shorter than the cover sheet, and that the edge area of the cover sheet projecting beyond the booklet has glue applied at the latest during labeling and to the left of this glue application is provided with a tear perforation.

According to the invention, it is proposed to provide at least one intermediate sheet between the cover sheet and the base sheet of such a label, which is shorter than the cover sheet, and wherein the cover sheet, the intermediate sheet and the base sheet are each glued to one another with at least one edge-parallel glue trace, and the cover sheet and that The intermediate sheet has tear-off perforations to the right of the glue traces.

The result of this is that after the right perforation has been torn open, the cover sheet and the intermediate sheet can be torn off along the left perforations. You can then take these sheets in your hand and read them comfortably. The new label can be manually - how also automatically - apply with automatic label dispensers. Two glue traces are usually provided for smooth application in the left margin area.

Therefore, according to a further special embodiment, the cover sheet, the intermediate sheet and the base sheet are each glued to one another with two glue traces in the left margin area, and the tear-off perforations are provided between the two glue traces, the right of the two glue traces imparting only slight adhesion, e.g. by point gluing.

As an alternative to this, the base sheet, intermediate sheet and cover sheet are glued to each other in the left margin area with two glue traces and the tear-off perforations are provided to the right of the two glue traces.

In the first case there is the advantage that the printing area is wider than in the second embodiment; however, when the sheets are torn off, the adhesive force of the gluing must be overcome without the sheets tearing.

According to a further special embodiment, the right edge area of the cover sheet is loaded on the back with an adhesive adhesive.

According to a further special embodiment, the base sheet is provided with a self-adhesive coating.

According to a further special embodiment, the cover sheet also projects beyond the base sheet with its right edge region.

In this case, this edge area can be glued directly to the container, otherwise the cover sheet with its right edge area is glued to the base sheet.
