Definitions

  • the invention relates to a cylinder head for an internal combustion engine according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • Such an internal combustion engine with the features of the preamble of the patent which is known from FR-A 2 552 820, enables a favorable arrangement of an ignition device or an injection device in the middle of the combustion chamber associated with each piston, by the gas exchange valves around the central ignition device or injection device can be arranged around in the cylinder head area assigned to a combustion chamber. Nevertheless, a reliable supply of lubricating oil and, if necessary, cooling oil to the camshaft bearings, the valves and the sliding surface between the camshaft and valve tappet must be ensured.
  • the known cylinder head has disadvantages, since long connections to the valves and the camshaft bearings are present from the oil channels arranged below the camshafts. These have to be elaborately manufactured after casting the cylinder head.
  • EP-A 0 416 600 is also known, which likewise shows a cylinder head with oil bores which extend along the cylinder head and which are connected to the camshaft bearings via branch bores.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a cylinder head for an internal combustion engine, in which a reliable supply of lubricating oil to the camshaft bearings and the valves is ensured, the corresponding oil passages and connections should be easy and inexpensive to manufacture.
  • This object is achieved in that the oil passages running parallel to the camshafts and arranged next to the valves within the drilling pattern formed by the cylinder head screws and the connections formed as passages or recesses from the oil passages to the valves and the camshaft bearings are formed by pouring cores when the cylinder head is cast become.
  • the short connections have a positive effect on the manufacturing process. Furthermore, due to the short connections, the risk of breaking appropriately designed casting cores is low or no longer exists.
  • the pouring cores of the oil channels and the channels and / or recesses branching off each oil channel are formed in one piece.
  • This one-piece design enables a particularly efficient manufacturing process, since only one casting core has to be fixed in the mold for each oil channel, preferably at the ends of the cylinder head.
  • the oil channels are advantageously connected to one another via transverse channels.
  • the casting cores of the two oil channels of the cylinder head and the transverse channels connecting them can be formed in one piece. This means that only one core needs to be defined for each cylinder head for the entire oil supply to the cylinder head in the casting mold. However, this also minimizes the risk of core parts breaking off, so that the reject rate of unusable cylinder heads is further reduced.
  • branch channels to the camshaft bearings are connected to the transverse channels.
  • This solution is particularly useful if cross-channels are provided in the area between all adjacent cylinders.
  • the cores to the camshaft bearings can be formed as simple short branch channels from these transverse channels.
  • the casting cores of the transverse channels are also preferably formed in one piece with the casting cores of the branch channels.
  • bearing cores are formed on the casting cores of the channels or recesses to the valve tappets, which are locked after the core assembly between the lower valve spring core part and the upper valve spring core part. This further stabilizes the entire core and further reduces the risk of damage to the core. This also eliminates the risk of the casting core "bending", particularly in the area of the oil channels.
  • the gas exchange valves are preferably arranged vertically, that is to say axially parallel in the cylinder head. This has the advantage of an uncomplicated casting core and simple workability, for example of the valve seats or valve seat rings.
  • the cylinder head according to FIG. 1 has four gas exchange valves per cylinder, which are arranged in recesses 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d for each cylinder.
  • the recesses 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d in FIG. 1 have a diameter which is designed to accommodate hydraulic tappets for valve clearance compensation.
  • the recesses 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d or the corresponding gas exchange valves and hydraulic tappets are arranged in relation to the combustion chamber of a cylinder such that an opening 2 can be arranged in the center of the combustion chamber.
  • An ignition device, a prechamber or an injection nozzle can be inserted into the opening 2.
  • the cylinder head is fastened to the crankcase of the internal combustion engine with cylinder head screws, the cylinder head screws being passed through cylinder head screw pipes 3.
  • Connecting walls 4 extend between the cylinder head screw pipes 3.
  • oil channels 6a, 6b extend parallel to the axes of the camshafts 5a, 5b (FIG. 3).
  • the oil passes through inlets and outlets 7a, 7b or alternatively 7c, in this case 7b is closed and transverse channels 8a, 8b into the oil channels 6a, 6b.
  • further transverse channels 8c, 8d, 8e are provided between the individual cylinder units In the four-cylinder head shown.
  • all channels through which oil flows are formed by a single casting core.
  • the casting core is held by receptacles which protrude through the inlet and outlet, 7a, 7b, and by bearing cores which protrude into the recesses 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d for the valves and are locked between the valve spring lower part and the valve spring upper part.
  • the oil channel 6b is shown in dashed lines in the section according to FIG.
  • FIG. 3 shows a section through an assembled cylinder head.
  • the cylinder head with the oil channels 6a, 6b is covered by a cylinder head cover 9.
  • Two camshafts 5a, 5b are mounted in the covered space, which actuate hydraulic tappets 11a, 11b with their cams 10a, 10b.
  • the hydraulic tappets 11a, 11b in turn act on valve stems 12a, 12b, which are connected to valve disks, not shown, for controlling the gas exchange of the internal combustion engine.
  • Channels 13a, 13b branch off from the oil channels 6a, 6b to the recesses 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, in which the hydraulic tappets 11a, 11b and the valve stems 12a, 12b with the valve springs are arranged.
  • a cross-channel 8c with branch channels 14c ', 14c "to the camshaft bearings is shown in broken lines.
  • FIG. 4 shows a section III through an unmounted cylinder head in the area of cylinder head screw pipes 3 while FIG. 5 shows a section IV through the cylinder head in Area of the transverse channel 8d.
  • FIGS. 6 and 7 show sections through another embodiment of a cylinder head with oil channels 6a ', 6b'.
  • channels 13a, 13b branch off from the oil channels 6a ', 6b' to the recesses 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d of each cylinder.
  • the camshaft bearings are connected via recesses 15a, 15b connected to the oil channels 6a ', 6b'.
  • Cross channels are not provided in this embodiment.
