Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a soundproofing device which is specially designed to dampen the noise occurring in ventilation systems, air conditioning and the like, and which causes good attenuation of this noise at relatively low production costs.
  • Soundproofing devices are known for ventilation systems and the like, which comprise a metal carcass, generally of substantially parallelepiped shape and open on two opposite sides, and several rigid soundproofing elements which consist of envelopes whose walls are perforated metal plates which have been filled with an absorbent material, for example fiberglass. These soundproofing elements are fixed parallel to each other, inside the carcass, by welding or by means of rivets, so that between each pair of elements, a duct of rectangular section is formed in the direction of the air flow.
  • Devices of this type are of a relatively complex assembly, since they require welds or rivets, and in addition, the soundproofing elements require the rigid metal structure mentioned to support the absorbent material, which incurs additional material and labor costs.
  • the ducts serving for the passage of ventilation air are straight, which prevents good attenuation of the high frequency components of the noise which is transmitted by the ventilation system, since the sound at high frequencies shows no diffraction.
  • the present invention aims to remedy the drawbacks mentioned, by presenting a soundproofing device, especially for ventilation systems and the like, which is of a simple structure and of reduced cost and which improves in at the same time the attenuation of the high frequency components of the noise produced by the ventilation equipment and which is propagated through the ducts.
  • the subject of the invention is a soundproofing device, in particular for ventilation systems, of the type comprising a metal carcass and several soundproofing elements arranged inside this carcass, characterized in that it comprises ways to guide arranged inside the carcass and in that the soundproofing elements comprise several rigid molded panels, made of a soundproofing material, which are provided with coupling means with said guide means.
  • the rigid molded panels comprise a plate forming an undulation which delimits a cavity bounded by two lateral surfaces and the coupling means consist of rigid fins which extend outward from the ends of the sign.
  • two rows of panels and panel parts mate in each pair of guide means, these panels and panel parts having their concavities which face each other, thus forming said soundproofing elements, while between each pair of contiguous soundproofing elements, a non-rectilinear conduit is formed, serving for the passage of air, the shape and thickness of which depend on the relative arrangement of the panels and panel parts.
  • This arrangement has the advantage that the non-rectilinear conduits used for the passage of air allow better absorption of sound at high frequencies.
  • the guide means comprise several sections, made of a rigid plastic material, which have a flat face for attachment to an interior surface of the carcass and which comprise, on the opposite face, several pairs of projections separated from each other by a distance to accommodate the fins of the panels, while allowing them to slide.
  • the profiles can be fixed to the corresponding surface in various ways, for example by means of an adhesive substance.
  • FIGS 1, 2 and 3 show a panel 1 and a half of panel 2 (obtained by cutting this panel 1) which is used to make a device according to the invention.
  • the panel 1 is a rigid molded panel which comprises a plate 3 forming a corrugation which delimits a cavity bounded by two lateral surfaces 4.
  • This panel 1 also comprises, according to a preferred embodiment, a rigid fin 5 which extends outwards from the ends of the panel 1.
  • the soundproofing device of the invention comprises a carcass 6, shown in FIG. 4, which is provided, on its two bases 7, with guides 8 such as those which can be seen in FIG. 6.
  • Soundproofing elements 9 are arranged inside the shell 6, each of these elements being formed by two rows of panels 1 and 2 which are introduced by sliding them, one behind the other, in each corresponding pair of guides 8, with the concavities of the panels 1 and 2 facing each other.
  • Some of the elements 9 can consist of a single row of panels 1 and 2 when these elements are in contact with the side walls of the carcass 6, as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5.
  • the soundproofing elements 9 have a sinusoidal shape and have a uniform thickness, thus forming between two successive elements of the conduits 10 which are intended for the passage of air and which are also sinusoidal and of uniform thickness.
  • Figure 6 shows in section a soundproofing element 9 and we can see in this figure how the panels 1 and 2 are fixed between two guides 8 corresponding.
  • a cover 11 is provided which is fixed to the carcass by known means and which serves to supplement these elements.
  • the guides 8 are constituted by profiles of rigid plastic material 8 which have a flat face 12 allowing their fixing on a base 7 of the carcass 6 and which, on the opposite face 14, are provided with several pairs of projections 13, the projections of each pair being spaced apart by a distance making it possible to accommodate the fins 5 of the panels 1 and 2, while allowing their sliding.
  • the rigid plastic profiles 8 can be fixed to the base 7 by means of various known systems, advantageously by means of an adhesive substance.
  • the soundproofing device of the invention turns out to be of a simpler assembly and it makes it possible to remove a large part of the non-absorbent materials which were necessary until now, so that their cost is significantly reduced.
  • the soundproofing device described is placed for example at the outlet of a ventilation system, with the soundproofing elements 9 and the conduits 10 parallel to the air flow, so that the air and the sound produced by the mechanical elements of the ventilation system, run through the non-rectilinear conduits 10.
  • the sound is absorbed by the soundproofing elements 9 thanks to the characteristics of the material and, moreover, because of the shape of the conduits 10, I must necessarily meet the panels 1 and 2 of soundproofing material which constitute the elements 9
  • the sound absorption effect is particularly improved compared to the prior art insofar as they are respected the high frequency components of sound, which do not exhibit diffraction, and this is why they do not deviate from a trajectory which is straight; in this case, the known rectilinear conduits are inoperative, since these high-frequency components do not meet the walls of the conduit.
  • the direction of propagation is interrupted by the panels 1 and 2 which constitute the walls of the conduits, which has the result that the high frequency components are also damped.
  • the materials used for panels 1 and 2 may for example be fiberglass, rock wool, cotton fiber, or any other soundproofing material.
