Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a date mechanism for a chronograph watch, said watch comprising, superimposed, one on top of the other and in order, a motor module, a chronograph module engaged with the motor module, a dial. and indicator members, said motor module comprising inter alia a first date ring arranged to be driven in steps once a day by means of a mechanism controlled by the motor member carried by the motor module and a correcting mechanism for correcting manually the position of said first ring.
  • the document CH-B-647 125 already describes a chronograph watch composed of an engine module on which a chronograph module is placed.
  • the engine module includes a date indicator which appears at the bottom of a well formed in the thickness of the chronograph module. This arrangement is not favorable because it greatly darkens the date indication and it is not the magnifying lens which is provided which will bring light to the bottom of the well, this lens further limiting the opening angle under which the date can be read.
  • the present invention provides a new date indicator located directly under the dial, this indicator being controlled by the conventional indicator fitted to the engine module.
  • the invention is characterized by the fact that the chronograph module includes a second date ring located immediately under the dial and bearing indications relating to the date, indications appearing through a window made in the dial, said second ring being controlled by said first ring via a kinematic chain mounted in said chronograph module.
  • FIG. 1 A general view of the chronograph watch of the invention is presented in FIG. 1.
  • the timepiece of this watch has hour 1 and minute 2 hands reset by a crown 3.
  • a small hand second 4 completes the timepiece.
  • the chronograph has a central second hand 5, a minute counter 6 and an hour counter 7, the start and stop of which are controlled by a push-button 8 and the reset to zero by a push-button 9.
  • Indications timetables appear on a dial 12 pierced with a window 13 through which appears a date 14.
  • the date is reset by the crown 3.
  • the present invention relates exclusively to the mechanism driving the date or the date 14.
  • the watch according to the invention comprises in superposition and in order an engine module, a chronograph module engaged with the engine module, a dial and indicator members. This construction is partially shown in Figure 4 which is a section along the line IV - IV of Figure 1.
  • the motor module 19 is only represented by a plate 18 in which is formed a notch 15 which serves as a guide for the internal toothing 16 of a first date ring 17 which is mounted rotatably and coaxially in the center movement.
  • the date ring 17 is provided with an internal toothing made up of thirty-one teeth 16 or one tooth per day of the month. The ring progresses in steps, one per day at midnight. It receives its rotational movement via a gear train composed of the hour wheel 20 making a turn in twelve hours, an intermediate date wheel 21 and a date wheel 22 making a turn in twenty-four hours.
  • a spring hook 23 connected to the wheel 22 advances the ring 17 once a day when the hook 23 engages a tooth of the ring.
  • the hour wheel 20 is normally driven by the motor of the watch.
  • the movement also includes a mechanism for resetting the ring 17 controlled by the rod 24 and of which only the three-tooth part 25 can be seen.
  • a first jumper 26 allows the ring 17 to be properly positioned between the steps .
  • FIG. 4 also shows a chronograph module 27 surmounting the motor module 19 and a dial 12 surmounting the chronograph module.
  • the chronograph module 27 comprises a second date ring 28 located immediately under the dial 12, this second ring being controlled by the first ring 17 via a kinematic chain mounted in the chronograph module. An exemplary embodiment of this kinematic chain will be explained later.
  • the second ring 28 carries indications 14 relating to the date which appear through the window symbolized by the reference 13.
  • the first ring has an internal toothing 16 serving for its drive and for its correction, as has already been seen above, and an external toothing 29 engaged with a first end of the kinematic chain, the other end of this chain being engaged with an internal toothing 30 carried by the second ring 28.
  • the kinematic chain connecting the rings 17 and 28 comprises a first mobile 31 comprising two integral and coaxial wheels, the first 32 meshing with the external toothing 29 of the first ring 17 and the second 33 meshing with a first wheel 34 of a second mobile 35.
  • This second mobile carries a second wheel 36, integral with the first wheel 34 and which meshes with the internal toothing 30 of the second ring 28.
  • FIG. 4 shows that the chronograph module 27, mounted on the engine module 19, comprises a chronograph board 37 to which is fixed - by means not shown - a bridge chronograph 38.
  • the first and second wheels 32 and 33 of the first mobile 31 are integral with a shaft 39 which pivots in bearings 40 and 41 arranged respectively in the board 37 and in the bridge 38.
  • the first and second wheels 34 and 36 of the second mobile 35 are integral with a hub 42 which pivots on a rod 43 integral with the plate 37.
  • the entire kinematic chain which drives the second date ring 28 is part of the chronograph module 27 including the first wheel 32 of the first mobile 31, this wheel being placed in a housing 44 formed in the plate 18 of the motor module 19 when the motor and chronograph modules are mounted one on the other. This housing 44 is also presented in FIG. 2.
  • the second date ring 28 is located immediately under the dial 12 and the date indications 14 that the ring carries are visible through the window 13.
  • the window 13 is presented at the Figure 4 in dotted lines, because it is located, not in line with the mobile 31, but at half past four as seen in Figure 1, the mobile 31 being located at noon ( Figure 2 which shows the housing 44 which receives the wheel 32 of the mobile 31).
  • Figure 2 which shows the housing 44 which receives the wheel 32 of the mobile 31.
  • FIG 3 is a partial top view of the chronograph module according to line III - III of Figure 4.
  • the second date ring 28 with its date indications 14 and its internal toothing 30.
  • the second wheel 36 of the second mobile 35 also called a star date training.
  • the star rotates in the direction of arrow A
  • the ring 28 progresses in the direction of arrow B.
  • the first wheel 34 of the second mobile 31 has been drawn in dashed lines.
  • FIGS. 3, 4 and 5 being a section along the line V - V of FIG. 3.
  • the retaining plate also serves to indirectly limit the height of the second mobile to prevent it from coming into contact with the dial.
  • a disc 50 is integral with the hub 42 and on this disc rests the second wheel 36. As the ring 28 has a stroke limited in height, it will be the same for the mobile 35 and its hub 42 when the disc 50 comes to touch the teeth 30 of the ring 28.
  • the mechanism of the invention allows the correction of the date by the crown 3 forming part of the engine module. This avoids providing a corrective mechanism incorporated into the chronograph module which would in any case be difficult to accommodate as the chronograph module is cluttered with elements specific to the chronograph function.
