Abstract

A pallet tank has a tank (14) with a circular-cylindrical shell which, with the tank axis running vertically, is connected to a lower frame assembly via its lower end (19) and a saddle ring (20) welded thereto. On its underside, the frame assembly is provided with four corner brackets (24), each of which consists essentially of an end plate (25), a bar (27) and a locking plate (35). The corner bracket (24) is connected to the frame assembly and the saddle ring (20) via a connection arrangement which runs in a radial plane containing the tank axis and comprises an upright T-shaped profiled element (30) and a gusset (33). The locking plate (35) has an elongate hole (17) for the engagement of a retaining element which is provided on the relevant vehicle loading surface and penetrates the end plate (25) of the corner bracket (24). It can be inserted in the corner bracket in two positions rotated through 90 DEG so that it can be fixed to the loading surface in two different orientations. <IMAGE>

Description

Tank containers with a content of more than 450 ℓ for the transport of dangerous liquids are subject to international conventions and national laws. In the past, thin-walled cuboid or cubic tank containers were often used for quantities from 1000 to 1500 ℓ - in individual cases up to 3000 ℓ - their pressure resistance due to wall thickness and cross-section no longer meets today's requirements. For this reason, small, pressure-resistant, circular cylindrical tank containers are increasingly being used on pallets that can withstand higher test and operating pressures due to their circular cross-section.

The previously known pallet tanks are either lashed to each other and opposite the vehicle on smooth truck loading areas, or are loosely slidably arranged only within the side walls of the loading areas. Since the transport of dangerous goods on rail and road vehicles is increasingly subject to public criticism, increased demands have recently been placed on securing such loading units. A "sliding loading" or a loose juxtaposition is forbidden because of the obvious risk of tipping, especially when such tank containers or pallet tanks have a height that is greater than their length and width dimensions, and therefore tilt easily when individually loaded due to acceleration forces.

The invention has for its object to design pallet tanks, in particular those of smaller dimensions but in relation to the floor area of great height, so that they can be placed on vehicle loading areas or on larger pallets, with the aid of which several such tanks are combined to form a loading unit , have it locked.

The solution to this problem is specified in claim 1. The connection arrangement provided thereafter, which runs in a radial plane containing the tank axis and at the same time connects the corner fitting with a saddle ring carrying the tank and a frame group, results on the one hand in a stable overall concept which unites the essential supporting elements of the pallet tank and on the other hand causes the forces acting on the tank be introduced directly into the corner fittings, via which they are transferred to the respective loading area.

A transport container with the features specified in the preamble of claim 1 is known from DE-C-3 212 696. There, however, it is not a pallet tank, but rather a large container with a tank installed horizontally.

The development of the invention specified in claim 2 is inexpensive in that the corner fitting consists of a minimum of components and is therefore inexpensive in terms of manufacture and use of materials. The T-profile element used according to claim 3 for the connection arrangement results in a particularly stable structure due to its own cross-section and the favorable possibility of welding to the end ring and the base plate.

In the development of the invention according to claims 4 and 5, there is the advantage that, despite its few components, the corner fitting forms a type of "housing" for the almost captive mounting of a locking plate which can be inserted in two positions rotated by 90 °, so that the tank can be fixed in two correspondingly rotated orientations to a locking element with an elongated head (rotary lock or mandrel) provided on the loading area. This design is particularly advantageous for pallet tanks with a square base.

The measures of claim 6 lead to a further strengthening of the connection between the tank front ring, lower frame group and corner fitting.

In a further development of the invention according to claim 7, a frame also encloses the top of the tank and protects the tank fittings provided there, with the possibility of stacking several tanks of the same type on top of each other with mutual centering.

According to the illustration in FIGS. 1 and 2, a total of eight pallet tanks 12 are arranged on the loading surface 10 of a semi-trailer 11, each of which comprises a circular cylindrical tank 14 with a vertical tank axis 15 and an upper tank fitting 16, which is mounted on a square lower frame group 13.

In FIG. 2, in the frame group 13 of each pallet tank 12, oblong holes 17 for the engagement of locking elements (not shown) such as rotary locks or spikes (not shown) are drawn in at two opposite corners. Two further elongated holes are only indicated by a cross. Locking each pallet tank 12 at two diagonally opposite corners is most beneficial from the standpoint of tipping safety. A fixation on two locking elements is also sufficient because of the relatively small dimensions of the pallet tanks.

If several pallet tanks 12 standing next to one another, for example a group of four, are interlocked with one another, it is also sufficient to lock each individual pallet tank at only one point, the tipping safety being provided by the mutual support if the installation is sufficiently tight.

The square bottom frame group 13 of each pallet tank 12 has an edge length of 1200 mm. If a distance of 23 mm is maintained between adjacent pallet tanks, the width of the arrangement shown in FIG. 2 is 2423 mm. With these dimensions, the elongated holes 17 can be arranged such that they maintain a center distance of 2259 mm in the width direction in the corner regions of two adjacent pallet tanks 12 facing away from one another. This dimension corresponds to the standardized distance from locking elements, such as are provided on road vehicles and railway wagons intended for container transport. Therefore, at least two of the locking elements usually present can be used to fix the pallet tanks described here.

In Figure 1, two typical pallet tank heights of 2200 and 2600 mm are indicated.

According to Figures 3 to 5, a saddle ring 20 is provided on the lower tank bottom 19, which is welded to the tank bottom 19 with its vertical axial flange 21 running parallel to the tank axis 15 and is mounted with its horizontal radial flange 22 on four angle profile rails 23 forming the frame group 13.

Under each corner area of the frame group 13, a corner fitting 24 is provided, which is formed by a square base plate 25 with a circular opening 26 and a double-edged bracket 27. The two vertically extending legs 28 of the bracket rest with their lower edges on the base plate 25 and form adjacent parts of the two vertical surfaces of the corner fitting 24 facing away from the tank 14. The horizontal web 29 of the bracket 27 connecting the upper ends of the legs 28 extends in the diagonal direction of the corner fitting 24 and forms a support surface for the ends of two angle profile rails 23 of the frame group 13.

In the area of the corner diagonally opposite the bracket 27, the base plate 25 is connected to the saddle ring 20 via a T-profile element 30. The T-profile element 30 is with its foot edge of the central web 31 on the outer surface of the axial flange 21 of the saddle ring 20 and welded on the end face to the surface of the base plate 25 so that the outer surface of its crosspiece 32 intersects the corner region of the base plate 25 diagonally.

Parallel to the central web 31 there is also a gusset plate 33, which is welded to the axial flange 21 of the saddle ring 20 with its vertical edge facing the tank 14 and with its lower horizontal edge to the top of the horizontal flange of one of the two angle profile rails 23 of the lower frame group. In the mutual overlap area, the gusset plate 33 and / or the crossbar 32 of the T-profile element 30 are slotted and welded together.

A square locking plate 35 is placed on the base plate 25 of the corner fitting 24, which is diagonally beveled at its four corners and in the middle of which the slot 17 mentioned above is arranged. With its corner facing away from the tank 14, the locking plate 35 engages in the niche formed by the legs 28 of the bracket 27, while with the diametrically opposite bevel it bears against the diagonally extending transverse web 32 of the T-profile element 30. In the position defined in this way, the elongated hole 17 is in a position in which its projection lies entirely within the opening 26 of the base plate 25 and thus for the engagement of a locking element provided on the loading area of the vehicle and penetrating the opening 26 in the base plate 25 stands.

As shown in FIG. 5, the clear height between the angle profile rails 23 forming the lower frame group 13 and the base plate 25 of the corner fitting 24 and the clear distance measured in the diagonal direction between the cross bar 32 of the T-profile element 30 and the inner edges of the bracket legs 28 are selected in this way that the locking plate 35 can be pulled out of the corner fitting 24 in the dash-dotted position shown in FIG. It can then be rotated by 90 ° and reinserted in this position, so that the elongated hole 17 is then in a position rotated by 90 ° with respect to the illustration in FIG. Because of this design, it is possible to pallet tank 12 in two different orientations on the respective locking element to fix.

In a variant not shown, the bevels at the four corners of the locking plate 35 and the dimension between the bracket 27 and the crossbar 32 of the T-profile element 30 can also be dimensioned such that the locking plate 35 has the shape of a regular octagon with eight edges of equal length receives. The pallet tank can then also be locked diagonally to the direction of travel on the vehicle loading area.

The height of the corner fitting 24 is also selected so that there remains a distance below the lower frame group 13 for the insertion of forklift tines. At the points serving to rest on such forklift tines, the angle profile rails 23 are reinforced by angles 36 shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, which are. In the lateral direction these forklift "channels" are delimited by the inner edges of the T-profile elements 30, so that the pallet tank 12 cannot slide off the forklift in the lateral direction.

In the upper part of FIGS. 3 and 5 and in FIG. 6, the corner area of an upper frame group 40 is illustrated, which is connected via vertical angle supports 41 to the angle profile rails 23 of the lower frame group 13 and the corner fittings 24 in the area of the bracket 27 and the base plate 25 . To protect the tank fittings 16, the upper frame group 40 runs above the same.

A node plate 42 in the form of an isosceles triangle with flanges bent downward is inserted in each corner region of the upper frame group 40. A tube piece 43 is welded into a bore of the node plate 42, the length of which protrudes upwards and serves to engage in the opening 26 of the base plate 25 of a pallet tank of the same type stacked above it.

The downwardly projecting length of the pipe section 43 is welded to a flange 44 attached to the diagonal edge of the node plate 42 for reinforcement. The common lower edges of the flange 44 and the pipe section 43 also serve as a point of attack for a crane hook inserted within the upper frame group 40.
