This tapers so that its rear end 11 in use is broader, while its front end 12 is narrower. It is longer in the front to rear direction than the top to bottom direction.

  • the upper and rear edges 15, 16 defining the recess are champfered (rounded), and they also merge into each other via a curve, and these constitute ledges which fit onto the hip of the user. Via the upper edge 15 in particular forces are transmitted downwards to the pelvic girdle of the user.
  • the recessed region 13 may be moulded in, or cut out, depending on the method of manufacture of the pad. In this example the recessed region is thinner than the remainder of the core 10.
  • a stiffening plate 17, e.g. of polypropylene is fixed to the opposite side of the foamed plastics core 10.
  • This plate 17 is roughly L shaped and extends along the upper and rear edge margins of the foamed plastics, generally corresponding to the non-recessed region of the other surface.

  • the respective hip pads 21 are mounted symmetrically at each side of this lumbar pad 28, the respective bars 20 extending through the rear looped elements 19.

  • this particular example comprises a moulded foamed polyethylene band 50 which is integrally configured to have, on a surface intended to contact the user's body, recessed regions 33 which merge into each other in the central lumbar region 38, and extend to the ends and the lower edge of the band 50, and protruding regions 35 thereabove as well as a central protrusion 36 adjacent the upper edge of this band.
  • This surface contour is designed to fit closely to the body contour of a user.
  • a relatively stiffer yet flexible sheet of polypropylene 51 is attached to the reverse surface of the foamed plstics 50, as shown in Fig. 7. This may be accomplished by adhesive, and an edging strip 32 of fabric provides a neat finish. Slotted elements 40 for mounting on frame bars 20 (see Fig. 1) of a rucksack are fastened to the sheet 51.
  • the two webbing parts of a hip belt strap 39 are also connected to the ends of the pad, being conveniently held between the plastics band 50 and the backing sheet 51.
  • Fig. 8 shows a variant wherein the stiff backing sheet 51 is cut away opposite to the recessed regions 33 so that only the upper and central regions are reinforced.
  • the hip belt strap 39 is in one piece and extends between the foamed plastics and the stiff sheet 51.

Claims (18)

  1. Coussin de hanche pour un sac à dos comprenant un noyau (10) en matière plastique alvéolaire, caractérisé en ce qu'il présente, dans sa surface qui, en cours d'utilisation, vient en contact avec le corps de l'utilisateur, une région évidée (13) s'étendant depuis entre un bord inférieur et un bord supérieur du noyau au bord inférieur de celui-ci et configuré pour s'adapter sur la hanche d'un utilisateur.
  2. Coussin de hanche et lombaire intégral pour un sac à dos comprenant un noyau (50) en matière plastique alvéolaire, caractérisé en ce qu'il présente dans sa surface qui, en cours d'utilisation, vient en contact avec le corps de l'utilisateur, des régions évidées (33) disposées symétriquement, chacune s'étendant depuis entre un bord inférieur et un bord supérieur du noyau au bord inférieur de celui-ci et configuré pour s'adapter sur les hanches respectives de l'utilisateur (Figures 6 à 8).
  3. Coussin selon la revendication 1 ou 2, dans lequel le noyau est réalisé en une mousse de polyéthylène à cellules fermées.
  4. Coussin selon la revendication 1, 2, ou 3, dans lequel le noyau en matière alvéolaire est fabriqué par moulage avec une région évidée (13) formée intégralement ou, respectivement, avec deux régions évidées (33) formées intégralement.
  5. Coussin selon l'une des revendications précédentes, dans lequel la ou chaque région évidée (13, 33) est d'une épaisseur réduite comparée au restant du noyau (10, 50).
  6. Coussin selon l'une des revendications précédentes présentant une bande (17, 51) en une matière de raidissement attachée à la surface du noyau (10, 50) qui, en cours d'utilisation, est éloignée du corps de l'utilisateur.
  7. Coussin selon l'une des revendications précédentes, présentant un moyen raidisseur (17, 51) s'étendant adjacent au bord supérieur du noyau (10, 50).
  8. Coussin selon la revendication 1 et la revendication 6 ou 7, dans lequel le matériau de raidissement ou le moyen raidisseur (17) a approximativement une forme de L (Figure 3 et 5).
  9. Coussin selon l'une des revendications 6, 7 ou 8, dans lequel le matériau de raidissement ou le moyen raidisseur (17, 51) comprend une feuille à contour en polypropylène, fixée à la surface du noyau (10, 50) éloignée du contact avec le corps de l'utilisateur.
  10. Coussin selon les revendications 4 et 9, dans lequel le noyau (10, 50) est réalisé par moulage et la plaque de raidissement (17, 51) est moulée intégralement avec celui-ci, ou est noyée dans le corps alvéolaire.
  11. Coussin selon l'une des revendications 6, 7 ou 8, dans lequel le matériau de raidissement ou le moyen raidisseur est constitué d'une région d'une densité bien plus élevée en plastique alvéolaire ou par une composition différente de plastique alvéolaire.
  12. Coussin selon l'une des revendications 6 à 11, dans lequel le matériau de raidissement ou le moyen raidisseur est seulement prévu dans ou sur des régions du noyau autre que la ou les régions évidées et la ou les régions de la surface opposée correspondant à celles-ci.
  13. Coussin selon l'une des revendications précédentes, dans lequel le ou chaque région évidée s'étend au bord avant du noyau.
  14. Coussin selon la revendication 1 et 6 ou 7, dans lequel la région évidée a une étendue longitudinale fixe, utilement une forme de coupelle inversée, et la position du noyau en plastique alvéolaire (10) est réglable longitudinalement (c'est-à-dire vers le côté relativement au sac à dos et à l'utilisateur) relativement au matériau de raidissement ou moyen raidisseur (17) (Figures 4 et 5).
  15. Coussin selon la revendication 14, dans lequel le réglage longitudinal du noyau relativement au raidisseur est réalisé par une rangée d'ouvertures (30) dans le raidisseur (17) et des goujons (31) ou des fixations similaires prévues sur le noyau, ou faisant saillie à travers les ouvertures correspondantes dans le noyau qui sont interengageables avec des ouvertures choisies de la rangée d'ouvertures dans le raidisseur.
  16. Coussin selon l'une des revendications précédentes et pourvu d'un recouvrement en tissu qui est cousu tout autour ou qu'on a fait adhérer à celui-ci.
  17. Sac à dos présentant deux coussins de hanche (21, 22) chacun avec une région évidée (13) configurée pour s'adapter aux hanches de l'utilisateur, tels que revendiqués dans la revendication 1.
  18. Sac à dos présentant un coussin de hanche et lombaire combiné avec deux régions évidées configurées pour s'adapter aux hanches de l'utilisateur, tels que revendiqués dans la revendication 2.
