Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for cutting tiles and / or plates with the features of the preamble of claim 1.
- Such devices are known. Devices of this type are manufactured in different sizes and types, depending on whether they should be used to cut relatively thin tiles or thick-walled panels such as roof tiles, or whether the device is intended for the DIY enthusiast who only uses it occasionally, or else , the facility serves the professional artisan for everyday use. Regardless of type and size, these devices are designed so that during the cutting process the actuating lever lies in an angular range with respect to the support part, in which the manual force to be applied for the cutting process can be used as optimally as possible. This force, which is to be applied manually, on the one hand generates the cutting pressure and on the other hand pushes the slide over the workpiece.
- the French patent specification 25 87 647 should be mentioned, from which a device for cutting tiles is known, in which the guide rail, which is supported by bearing blocks arranged at the end of the support part, has a narrow, rectangular cross section, and this guide rail arranged so that it is upright with respect to the mentioned support part.
- the actuating lever which has two mutually angled sections, carries at one end the disk-shaped, freely rotatably mounted cutting tool and this section of the actuating lever has a slot-like recess lying in the plane of this lever, which is penetrated by the mentioned guide rail with the rectangular cross section.
- This slot-like recess in the actuating lever is several times larger than the height of the guide rail, so that the actuating lever can be adjusted as a whole to the extent of the difference in the dimensions mentioned.
- two bores are left on the front and rear edges and they lie above the lower boundary edge of the slot-like recess, which they penetrate directly. Pins can be inserted into these holes, which serve as abutments during the operational use of this device.
- the known device according to German Offenlegungsschrift 39 15 368 also has a support part for the plate-shaped workpieces with bearing blocks arranged at the ends, which carry a guide.
- This guide consists of two strips with a rectangular cross-section, which are adjacent to one another with their broad sides, with the exception of a longitudinal gap in which the cutting tool is displaceably guided.
- the ends of this guide are mounted in height-adjustable bearing blocks.
- the cutting tool itself consists of a plate-like element which is received by the two strips serving as guides and which carries the freely rotatable, disk-like cutting tool on its lower side and which has a handle firmly and rigidly connected to it on its upper side.
- Pins protruding transversely from this plate-like element on its upper or on its lower edge form stops so that this element cannot be pulled out of this guide, furthermore these pins form abutments during the operational cutting process.
- a device of this type is completely unsuitable for commercial use because the forces required for cutting panels, tiles or roof tiles cannot be applied with such a device.
- the storage and guidance of the cutting tool as such is not sufficiently stable and precise.
- the invention is based on this prior art and proposes, in order to solve the problem at hand, those measures which are the subject and content of the characterizing part of patent claim 1.
- the cutting edge of the cutting tool can be changed in terms of its height above the support part, and so the position of the cutting tool can always be adapted to the thickness or thickness of the workpiece, with the result that when cutting the actuating lever relative to the support part regardless of the thickness or thickness of the plate-shaped workpiece is always in the optimal angular range, on the other hand that stable guides and guide elements are present, so that the device is also ideally suited for rough construction site operation.
- the tile cutter consists of an elongated support part 1, on its two end faces 2, the bearing blocks 3 fixed in a suitable manner and are attached.
- These bearing blocks 3 carry two guide rails 4 which run parallel to one another and also parallel to the support part 1 and are spaced apart from one another on these two guide rails and a slide 5 is slidably mounted.
- an actuating lever 6 is connected to an actuating or handle 7, this actuating lever 6 being pivotable in a vertical plane which is in relation to the support part 1 (arrow 8).
- a cutting tool 9 is attached to the underside of this lever and, like a glass cutter, consists of a freely rotatable cutting wheel.
- a crushing tool is hinged to this actuating lever 6, which has an essentially T-shaped shape (FIGS. 6 and 7).
- actuating lever 6 is illustrated in the pivoted up position. However, if the actuating lever 6 is pivoted downward, the pendulum-suspended breaking tool 10 and the cutting tool 9 lie in that position opposite the support part 1, which is illustrated in FIG. 1 by broken lines 11 and 12.
- the height of the cutting edge of the cutting tool 9 above the support part 1 is referred to here as the working height H.
- the carriage 5 consists of two symmetrical parts which are clamped together and FIG. 3 illustrates that side of one part of the carriage 5, that of the identically configured side the other part is adjacent when the two parts are combined to the carriage 5 by means of fastening screws. If it is assumed that the surface 13 with the bore 14 for receiving the pivot axis 28 lies in the plane of the drawing, then the surfaces 15 and 16 project somewhat in relation to the plane of the drawing, whereas the surface 17 is offset to the rear in relation to the plane of the drawing. The upper vertical end face forms a stop face 18, which will be explained in more detail below. Take holes 33 and 34 Screw on, with which the two identical parts are screwed together to form the carriage 5.
- Fig. 4 illustrates the control lever 19 in view.
- This one-arm control lever 19 is bevelled over its length and the two legs forming this control lever form an obtuse angle with one another.
- two holes 20 and 21 are provided in one leg of this control lever 19.
- the actuating lever 6 is to be considered, which is shown in the view in FIG. 5.
- This actuating lever 6 has at one end a vertical elongated hole recess 22 and a further bore 23 and an arcuate recess 24, the center of which lies in the axis of the bore 23.
- the cutting tool 9, not shown here, is freely rotatably mounted on a downwardly projecting extension 25.
- this lever has an upwardly directed section 26, which has an approximately vertically extending boundary edge 27 on its side facing the actuating handle 7.
- the distance between the bores 20 and 21 in the actuating lever corresponds to the distance between the elongated hole recess 22 and the bore 23.
- the pivot axis 28, which is received by the bore 14 of the carriage 5, represents, so to speak, the pivot point of the lever mechanism.
- the setting lever 19 can be pivoted about this pivot axis 28, and its position, which is assumed in relation to the actuating lever 6, can be fixed with the clamping screw 30 which penetrates the circular recess 24 and is received in the bore 29.
- the pivot axis 28 passes through the slot hole 22 in the actuating lever 6.
- the clamping screw 30 is loosened and shifted upward in the arcuate recess 24 (FIG. 9) or downward (FIG. 10).
- the adjusting lever 19 is pivoted about the axis 28, the bearing pin 31 moving upward or downward somewhat, as a result of which the extent of this movement of the bearing pin 31 is given essentially by the length of the lever arm, which is the distance between the pivot axis 28 and the bearing pin 31 corresponds and the respective adjustment angle, it should be noted that due to the construction illustrated and disclosed here, the entire pivot angle of the actuating lever 19 is greater than the arc length of the circular-arc-shaped recess 24. This pivoting changes the working height H of the cutting tool 9 relative to the support part. The extent of the respective change can be seen directly in FIGS. 8, 9 and 10. If the desired working height is set, the clamping screw 30 is tightened.
- the actuating lever 6 After the center of gravity of the actuating lever 6 is on the right (in FIGS. 8, 9 and 10) of its actual pivot axis 31 and the boundary edge 27 of the section 26 abuts the vertical stop surface 18 of the carriage 5, the actuating lever 6 only changes in the described adjustment its distance from the support part 1, while maintaining its position relative to this support part, in other words, the actuating lever is displaced in parallel in its rest position by said adjustment relative to the support part 1.
- the construction shown here can be made very space-saving, since the adjusting lever 19 can be integrated into the actuating lever, so to speak.
- the actuating lever 6 is slotted through a recess 32 in its area facing the carriage 5 and the adjusting lever 19 is accommodated in this slit-like recess.
- the surfaces 17 delimit the region in which the breaking tool 10 is suspended in an oscillating manner (FIG. 11).
- the actuating lever within the carriage 5, which is defined by the guide rails with respect to its height relative to the support part 1, can be moved parallel to itself and in its swivel plane, its swivel axis 28 maintaining its position relative to the carriage 5.
- the actuating lever 6 can be fixed, i.e. it maintains the position assigned to it relative to the slide 5, this fixing being effected by means of the clamping screw 30 which, when tightened, positively clamps the actuating lever 6 and adjusting lever 19 together.
- the actuating lever 6 can be pivoted about the pivot axis 28 which is stationary with respect to the carriage 5.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a device for cutting tiles and / or plates with the features of the preamble of
Such devices are known. It is readily apparent to the person skilled in the art that the two force components which bring about these processes can only be optimally applied if the actuating lever lies in a certain angular range during this process. This angular position of the actuating lever relative to the support part is now dependent on the thickness or thickness of the tile or plate to be cut.
It is now desirable that stronger and larger-sized devices of the type in question are not only used for relatively thick or thin slabs, it should also be possible with these strong and large-sized devices, under optimal conditions, both thin-walled and strong and thick tiles or cut slabs; to train the device so that regardless of the strength or Thickness of the workpiece to be cut in each case is the actuating lever in the mentioned optimal angular range with respect to the support part.
In this context, the
The known device according to German Offenlegungsschrift 39 15 368 also has a support part for the plate-shaped workpieces with bearing blocks arranged at the ends, which carry a guide. This guide consists of two strips with a rectangular cross-section, which are adjacent to one another with their broad sides, with the exception of a longitudinal gap in which the cutting tool is displaceably guided. The ends of this guide are mounted in height-adjustable bearing blocks. The cutting tool itself consists of a plate-like element which is received by the two strips serving as guides and which carries the freely rotatable, disk-like cutting tool on its lower side and which has a handle firmly and rigidly connected to it on its upper side. Pins protruding transversely from this plate-like element on its upper or on its lower edge form stops so that this element cannot be pulled out of this guide, furthermore these pins form abutments during the operational cutting process. A device of this type is completely unsuitable for commercial use because the forces required for cutting panels, tiles or roof tiles cannot be applied with such a device. In addition, the storage and guidance of the cutting tool as such is not sufficiently stable and precise.
The invention is based on this prior art and proposes, in order to solve the problem at hand, those measures which are the subject and content of the characterizing part of
By this measure it is achieved on the one hand that the cutting edge of the cutting tool can be changed in terms of its height above the support part, and so the position of the cutting tool can always be adapted to the thickness or thickness of the workpiece, with the result that when cutting the actuating lever relative to the support part regardless of the thickness or thickness of the plate-shaped workpiece is always in the optimal angular range, on the other hand that stable guides and guide elements are present, so that the device is also ideally suited for rough construction site operation.

1 and 2 it can be seen that the tile cutter consists of an
In Fig. 1, the actuating
Fig. 4 veranschaulicht in Ansicht den Stellhebel 19. Fig. 4 illustrates the
Furthermore, the actuating
Die drei erwähnten Darstellungen unterscheiden sich durch die verschiedenen relativen Lage der Teile zueinander:8, 9 and 10 now illustrate the position of the individual parts described above on the
The
The setting
If the clamping
If the cutting tool is now to be set to a different working height, the clamping
After the center of gravity of the
The construction shown here can be made very space-saving, since the adjusting
Thanks to the measure according to the invention, the actuating lever within the
