Abstract
La présente invention concerne une batterie rechargeable à électrolyte solide. La batterie selon l'invention comporte un électrolyte solide polymère, une anode constituée par une source de lithium et une cathode comportant un matériau récepteur de lithium. Le matériau récepteur de lithium est un composé répondant à la formule CFxMy, M étant choisi parmi I, Cl, Br, Re, W, Mo, B et 0,3 x 0,9, 0,02 y 0,06, la structure de ce matériau étant telle que les atomes de carbone forment des hexagones plans. La batterie selon l'invention présente une capacité améliorée.
Description
Batterie rechargeable à electrolyte solide La présente invention concerne un matériau de catho pour batterie rechargeable à electrolyte solide, et l batteries rechargables comportant ledit matériau com matériau de cathode.
La mise au point de batteries à electrolyte solide constitué un grand progrès dans le domaine des batteri rechargeables. Les batteries au lithium à electrolyte soli constituent une classe particulièrement intéressante batteries rechargeables. Ces batteries comportent de électrodes au lithium réversibles, l'une agissant com source d'ions lithium pendant la décharge, l'autre com récepteur d'ions lithium, les deux étant séparées par un fi mince d'electrolyte polymère agissant comme un support d'io lithium. Le processus est inversé durant la recharge.
Dans les batteries connues, la source de lithium peut êt une feuille de lithium métallique (ou d'alliage de lithium une structure d'insertion d'ion lithium à faible potenti (par exemple W02) ou un polymère conjugué n-dopé au lithi (TiS2, v 6°i3r Mo02, etc), un composé de métal de transiti réductible par le lithium (par exemple FeS2, NiS2) ou polymère conjugué p-dopé. Le support d'ion lithium est obte en dissolvant un sel de lithium (par exemple LiCl0 LiCF3S03) dans un polymère aprotique solvatant tel qu' polyoxyde d'éthylène.
De telles batteries ont des performances intéressante Toutefois leur capacité est insuffisante. Ainsi, pour u batterie comportant TiS2, la capacité calculée est de l'ord de 200 A.h/kg; pour une batterie comportant 6013, elle e de l'ordre de 300 A.h/kg.
Par ailleurs, divers composés d'insertion d'ions lithium so connus comme matériau .-de cathode dans des piles non recha geables. Ainsi, on connait des piles au lithium à electrolyte solid dans lesquelles le matériau de cathode est un fluorure carbone CFχ obtenu par action de fluor sur du graphite, à u température de l'ordre de 350 à 650°C. cathode convient pour des piles. Toutefois la réversibilit de l'insertion d'ions lithium dans un tel matériau es pratiquement nulle et il n'est pas possible de l'utilise dans des batteries rechargeables. _.En outre, l'utilisation comme matériau de cathode d fluorures de carbone obtenus à température ambiante a ét décrite, d'une part, dans des piles à electrolyte solid polymère, d'autre part, dans un système électrochimique electrolyte liquide (carbonate de propylène) . L 0 réversibilité de l'insertion des ions lithium s'est révélé très mauvaise dans le système liquide. En fait, la liaison C F des fluorures de graphite obtenus à basse température a u caractère ionique partiel, ce qui facilite la formation d LiF entre les plans graphitiques lors de la décharge, selo 5 le schéma Li+ + F~ > LiF.
Pendant la décharge, la réaction de dissociation:
LiF >Li+ + F~, devrait avoir lieu. Théoriquement, cett réaction est difficilement envisageable, car l'enthalpie es très fortement positive.
En fait, il y a formation de LiF qui précipite. Le solvan 0 contribue à entraîner LiF formé à l'extérieur des zone électochimiquement actives, notamment hors de l'electrolyte par dissolution et nucléation.
Les présents inventeurs ont maintenant découvert que contrairement aux systèmes liquides, les systèmes électrochi miques à electrolyte solide permettaient une bonne réversibi lité de l'insertion d'ions lithium dans un matériau constitu par un fluorure de graphite obtenu à température ambiante, e ils ont mis au point une nouvelle batterie rechargeable electrolyte solide.
La présente invention a pour objet une batterie rechar geable comportant un electrolyte solide polymère, une anod constituée par une source de lithium et une cathod comportant un matériau récepteur de lithium, caractérisée e ce que le matériau récepteur de lithium est un compos répondant à la formule CFχMy, M étant choisi parmi I, Cl, B Re, W, Mo, B, et 0,3<x 0,9, 0,02<y<0,06, la structure de

matériau étant telle que les atomes de carbone forment d hexagones plans.
Les composés utilisables comme matériaux récepteurs so obtenus à température ambiante, par réaction de graphite av du fluor gazeux F2, en présence d'un mélange HF + MFn com catalyseur (n représentant la valence de l'élément M) . catalyseur diminue la barrière d'énergie de formation d liaisons C-F.
Comme composés MFn utilisables dans la présen invention, on peut citer IF7, I 5, C1F3, BrF5, BF3, ReF6 ReF7, WF6, MθF6.
Les composés particulièrement préférés sont IFy, IF5 C1F3, BrF5, BF3 et ReF7. Parmi eux, IF7 et IF5 permetten d'obtenir le taux de fluor le plus élevé dans le compos

L'electrolyte utilisé dans la batterie selon l'inventio est un electrolyte solide polymère. Comme polymère solide, o peut utiliser par exemple des composés chimiquement inerte tels que décrits notamment dans le brevet européen 13199 e le brevet français déposé le 15.06.1983 sous le n° 8309886 Les polyéthers sont particulièrement appropriés.
Un matériau particulièrement intéressant est u polyoxyde d'éthylène contenant un sel de lithium, par exempl LiC104 ou LiCF3S03. Comme exemple on peut citer P(OE)8
Licio4.
Dans une variante particulièrement préférée de l batterie selon l'invention, la cathode est constituée par u matériau composite comprenant, outre le composé récepteu d'ions lithium CFχMy, le matériau constituant l'electrolyte.
Comme matériau d'anode, on peut utiliser les matériau utilisés de façon classique dans les piles au lithium. Parm eux, on peut citer le lithium métallique ou un alliage d lithium, les composés d'insertion de lithium à faible poten

tiel, notamment 02 ou un polymère • conjugué n-dopé lithium.
La présente invention sera décrite plus en détails da les exemples non limitatifs donnés ci-dessous à tit illustratif, et dans les exemples comparatifs.
Préparation des matériaux de cathode
2 g de graphite naturel de Madagascar fineme pulvérisés (dimension de grain: 10 / m) ont été déshydrat sous un vide primaire à 500°C. Ils ont ensuite été introdui dans un réacteur tubulaire en monel.
MFn a été préparé ensuite par fluoration directe de l'éléme M ou d'un sel de M. Un courant permanent d'un mélange F2 + a été maintenu dans le réacteur pendant plusieurs heures température ambiante.
Pour le dopage du fluorure de carbone par Cl ou Br, on a ut lisé des sels, parmi lesquels on peut citer KBr, KCl, NaB NaCl. Dans les autres cas, on a utilisé l'élément M lui-mêm par exemple I2, W ou Mo.
La composition des produits obtenus a été déterminée p analyse élémentaire. Une teneur en hydrogène inférieure 0,01% a été détectée, ce qui prouve que HF agit effectiveme comme catalyseur. On a obtenu ainsi les échantillons A à D.
Dans les exemples précédents de préparation de CFχMy, a utilisé du graphite de Madagascar. On peut utiliser graphite ayant une autre origine, par exemple du graphite Ceylan. On peut également utiliser du coke. Le graphite a é déshydraté sous vide primaire. Cette opération n'e toutefois indispensable qu'en présence d'oxygène, de maniè à éviter l'oxydation des espèces en présence.

On a réalisé une batterie selon les schémas suivants 5 Li / P(OE)8, LiC104 / CF0 80I0 Q2 à l'aide du matéri A.
La batterie est constituée par un disque de lithium à hau pureté ayant une épaisseur d'environ 0,5 mm et un diamèt d'environ 17 mm. Ce disque de lithium a été pressé sur disque d'acier inoxydable de même diamètre, constituant l collecteur d'électrons. La cathode en film mince a é obtenue en pulvérisant une suspension composite CFQ 30--**O 02' de graPhit*e et de POE (polyoxyde d'éthylène dans l'acétonitrile sur un disque d'acier inoxydable de 20 m ± .Sc de diamètre.
La cathode a ensuite été séchée à température ambiante sou argon, puis à 80°C sous vide pendant plusieurs heures. L composition en volume de la cathode était approximativemen de 40% de CF0 80I0 02, 10% de graphite, 50% de P(OE)8 LiCl04 Son poids était d'environ 10 mg.
Un film d'électrolyte solide P(OE)8LiC104 ayant une épaisseu d'environ lOOfm et un diamètre de 21 mm a été pressé entre l disque de lithium (anode) et la cathode. L'ensemble a ét scellé en boîte à gants, sous atmosphère d'argon avec un teneur en H20 + 02 inférieure à 2 vpm.
La réversibilité du système a été mise en évidence e réalisant des cyclovoltammogrammes à 80"C avec différente vitesses de balayage représentés dans les figures 1 à 4. Dans ces figures 1, 2, 3 et 4, la vitesse de balayage étai respectivement de 1 V/mn, 100 mV/mn, 10 mV/mn et 1 mV/mn. Su les courbes, l'intensité du courant (en A) est portée e ordonnée, et la tension (en Volts) du système Li-Li+ e abscisse. correspondant à la réduction, marqués (2) . Ce phénomène es un indice du caractère cyclable du système électrochimique.
EXEMPLE 2
On a réalisé une batterie selon le schéma suivant :
Li / P(OE)8, LiC104 /CFQ 5 B0 06 à l'aide du matéria conforme à l'échantillon D.
La structure de la batterie est identique à celle d l'exemple 1.
La capacité théorique d'un tel système électrochimique est d
620 A.h/kg.
La capacité mesurée sur la batterie obtenue varie entre 40 et 600 A.h/kg.
EXEMPLE 3
Une batterie correspondant au schéma Li / P(0E)8, LiC104 /CFQ 7 W0 06 a été réalisée selon l mode opératoire de l'exemple 1.
La capacité théorique d'un tel système est de 620 A.h/kg e la capacité mesurée est de l'ordre de 460 A.h/kg.
Il apparaît par conséquent que, pour les batteries selo l'invention, la capacité mesurée est bien supérieure à l capacité théorique des batteries de l'art antérieur.
EXEMPLE COMPARATIF 1 De la même manière que dans l'exemple 1, on a réalis une cellule électrochimique selon le schéma suivant Li / P(OE)8, LiC104 / (CF)n.
(CF)n est un fluorure de graphite obtenu à température élevé
(350-650°C) et présentant des liaisons C-F essentiellemen covalentes.
Les cyclovaltammogrammes, effectués à 80"C avec différente vitesses de balayage et une masse de (CF)n équivalente à 1, fois la masse de fluorure utilisé dans l'exemple 1, son représentés aux figures 5, 6, 7 et 8. Dans ces figures, l tension (en volts) est portée en abscisse, et l'intensité d courant (en A) en ordonnée. Les échelles pour les intensit de courant sont représentées sur les figures.

Lors des essais effectués pour chacune des figures, l vitesses de balayage étaient respectivement de 1 V/m 100 mV/mn, 10 mV/mn et 1 mV/mn.
Seule une très faible vitesse de balayage provoq l'apparition d'un pic de réduction (2) (Cf. fig. 8) . décharge se fait par conséquent avec un potentiel variab sauf lorsque la vitesse de balayage est très faible. Il est noter qu'il n'apparait jamais de pic d'oxydation. Le systè ne peut donc constituer une batterie rechargeable.
EXEMPLE COMPARATIF 2 On a réalisé une cellule électrochimique liqui correspondant au schéma Li / PC, LiC104 / CFQ 75 IQ 03. CF0 75 IQ 03 est un fluorure de graphite obtenu à températu ambiante de la même manière que les échantillons A à D, av comme catalyseur HF + IF5.
Le cyclovoltammogramme est représenté sur la figure 9. S cette figure, la tension (en volts) est portée en absciss et l'intensité de courant (en mA) en ordonnée. (3) représen le premier cycle, (4) le deuxième, (5) le troisième et (6) douzième. On constate que les cycles ne sont p superposables. Par ailleurs, dans les premiers cycles, le p (2) correspondant à „, la réduction est très netteme disproportionné par rapport au pic (1) qui correspond l'oxydation.
Un tel système ne peut par conséquent pas être utilisé po constituer une batterie rechargeable.
Contrairement aux systèmes électrochimiques associant fluorure de graphite obtenu à température élevée à electrolyte solide polymère, ou un fluorure de graphi obtenu à température ambiante à un electrolyte liquide, l systèmes électochimiques au lithium associant un electroly solide polymère et un matériau de cathode constitué par fluorure de graphite obtenu à température ambiant constituent des batteries rechargeables ayant de bonn performances.

Claims
1. Batterie rechargeable comportant un electrolyte solide polymère, une anode constituée par une source d lithium et une cathode comportant un matériau récepteur de lithium, caractérisée en ce que le matériau récepteur de lithium est un composé répondant à la formule CFχMy, M étant choisi parmi I, Cl, Br, Re, W, Mo, B, et 0,3 x<0,9, 0,02<y<0,06, la structure de ce matériau étant telle que les atomes de carbone forment des hexagones plans.
2. Batterie rechargeable selon la revendication 1, caractérisée en ce que lesdits composés de formule CFχMy sont obtenus à température ambiante, par réaction de graphite ave du fluor gazeux F2, en présence d'un mélange HF + MFn comme catalyseur, n représentant la valence de l'élément M qui a l signification donnée dans l'exemple 1.
3. Batterie rechargeable selon la revendication 2, caractérisé en ce que MFn est choisi parmi IF7, IF5, C1F3, BrF5, BF3 et ReF7.
4. Batterie rechargeable selon l'une quelconque de revendications 1 à 3, caractérisée en ce que la source d lithium de la cathode est constituée par du lithiu métallique ou un alliage de lithium, un composé d'insertio de lithium à faible potentiel ou un polymère conjugué n-dop au lithium.
5. Batterie rechargeable selon l'une quelconque de revendications 1 à 4, caractérisée en ce que l'electrolyt est constitué par un polyéther chimiquement inerte et un se de lithium.
6. Batterie rechargeable selon la revendication 5, caractérisée en ce que l'electrolyte est constitué par u polyoxyde d'éthylène et de perchlorate de lithium.
7. Batterie rechargeable selon l'une quelconque de revendications 1 à 6, caractérisée en ce que le matériau d cathode comprend, outre le récepteur de lithium, le matéria constituant l'electrolyte solide polymère.
