Such a bookbinding machine is known from FR-A-1439825. The back-round device is formed by a counterpressure plate concave in the transverse direction and by a stamp above the counterpressure plate which is convexly shaped in the transverse direction in accordance with the front section of the book block.
A bookbinding machine can be found in US-A-1959656 with a round device operating according to the roll round principle and with a device for shaping the book block spines. The book blocks are placed between two round rollers on a support under contact with a stop and are grasped by the round rollers. These act on the two sides of the book block to carry out the rounding process and at the same time convey the book block downwards after the edition has been removed.
Together with the rotary movement, the round rollers are automatically moved in the longitudinal direction on their bearing shafts and, after the book block has been picked up, are released again by the round rollers by clamping the pressing device in order to return to their starting position.
The object of the invention is seen in creating a bookbinding machine for the back rounding of book blocks of the generic type, with which a high-quality back rounding can be achieved at high working speed. The object is achieved by the characterizing features of
With the book binding machine according to the invention, a way is shown for the first time to carry out the back rounding of book blocks by the roller round principle in a book block transport system with book block clamps which can be moved continuously in a closed orbit. As is known, such book block transport systems have hitherto been used exclusively for high-performance bookbinding machines.
The bookbinding machine according to the invention offers the technical advantage of a substantial increase in working speed while achieving optimal round results.
According to a further feature of the invention, the round rollers can be moved vertically in the recesses of the clamping jaws and the vertical movement is superimposed on the rotary movement of the round rollers in such a way that the vertical movement of the book block which is produced as a result of the rotary movement is compensated for, the outer sheets or printed sheets preferably being at a constant level being held. The holding of the book block in the clamp of the book block transport system in a defined position caused by the compensation movement is important for the subsequent work process.
According to a further feature of the invention, a further increase in the working speed can be achieved in that at least one further back rounding device is arranged in the bookbinding machine for the simultaneous back rounding of several book blocks.
Other advantageous features emerge from the remaining subclaims.

The device for back rounding of
The device for back rounding of book blocks is located essentially below the book block transport system and in a straight line section and is synchronized by a drive arrangement, the detailed description of which is provided elsewhere, with the continuously running
As is well known, when spinning round book blocks using the roll rounding method, there is a flowing relative displacement of the individual sheets or
Printed sheets by simultaneously rolling corrugated round rollers over a defined angle of rotation and under pressure, the sheets or printed sheets being increasingly advanced as the book block passes through the round rollers towards the center of the book block, thus giving the book block its desired rounded back shape and front cut shape.
In order to be able to carry out the back rounding process on a
As can be seen particularly clearly from FIG. 2, the two
After the rounding process and swiveling, the
The device for back-
Swivel levers 14, 15, in which the two
The pivoting movement of the
The vertical movement of the two
With the vertical movement, the two
As already mentioned at the beginning, the device for back-
It is understood that the invention is not limited only to the illustrated embodiment, but changes within the scope of the claims allows. It is basically conceivable to replace the drive means for the rotary movement of the two
With a view to a further increase in output, more than one device for rounding the back can be arranged in a row in the bookbinding machine in order to simultaneously round the back on several book blocks.
