Device for fixing the position of two formwork walls (12, 13) facing each other at a set distance , consisting of at least one rod-shaped retainer element (2) in the form of an angle iron with two sides (8) at the top end of which there is a recess in each side intended for the insertion of retainer element (2), the said retainer element (2) to be anchored vertically into a foundation structure roughly along the median line of a wall which is to be erected, the device further consisting of a horizontal rod (3), the length of which determines the distance between the two formwork walls facing each other (12, 13), whereby the retainer element and the horizontal rod form a right-angled cross shape, characterized in that the recesses (5) are of triangular shape and that an angle iron (3) can be inserted into them as a horizontal rod, so that the position of the angle iron (3) is longitudinally adjustable and by bending over the upper part (6) of the retainer element (2) at the recesses (5) in which clips can be used to hold the retainer element in place, the angle iron (3) is immovably attached to the retainer element (2), once this retainer element has been bent over.
