Abstract

A packaging container made of flexible material has bottom and head ends along with front and rear walls. The front and rear walls have lower side borders juxtaposed to the bottom end and which are joined together along juncture fold lines which are parallel to one another. The front and rear walls have upper side borders juxtaposed to the juncture fold lines. The upper side borders of the front and rear walls are connected by side panels having outer fold lines at the second side borders and an inner fold line such that when the container is in a flat unfilled state, the side panels are sandwiched between the front and rear walls and the outer fold lines and inner fold lines respectively converge toward one another as the head end is approached.

Description

The invention relates to a packaging container made of flexible material in the form of a sack or bag, with a bottom end and a head end and with a front wall and a rear wall, which lie flat against one another in the empty state of the packaging container and are connected to one another at their side edges via folded edges, the side edges in Area of the bottom end have a parallel to each other and in a region extending from this to the head end have a converging course.

There are already packaging containers of this type known, for example in the form of carrier bags, which are characterized in that the capacity of the carrier bag increases towards the bottom, since the bottom region is widest due to the parallel side edges of the bag, while towards the head end of the bag there is a narrowing of the bag width. At the same time, such a configuration counteracts bulging of the bags made of flexible material and improves the stability.

The invention has for its object to provide a packaging container of the specified type with increased capacity and well-contoured packaging form in the filled state, without thereby reducing the formation of the bottom end complicated and the space requirement of the packaging container is increased when empty.

Starting from a packaging container made of flexible material in the form of a sack or bag of the type specified at the outset, this object is achieved according to the invention in that a side fold extending across the converging region of the side edges is inserted between the front wall and the rear wall at the side edges thereof, whose inner folding edge is arranged in the extension of the associated side edge folding edge of the parallel region of the side edges.

In this embodiment, the capacity of a bag contour given when the packaging container is empty is increased by spreading the side gussets flat and pushing them outwards, so that the packaging container also has a clear outer contour with an approximately rectangular cross-section in this area with the involvement of the pronounced outer folded edges the gussets get. This gives the packaging an optically pleasing appearance and facilitates the stacking of the filled packaging containers and their handling in use. In the empty state of the packaging container, however, its space requirement is not increased due to the material of the side folds lying between the front and rear walls, so that the packaging container can be shipped and stored in a space-saving manner.

A complication of the formation of the bottom end by the inserted side folds is avoided in the embodiment according to the invention in that the side folds do not extend to the bottom edge, but end at a distance above it. The bottom region with its side edges aligned parallel to one another can therefore be processed with little effort in the manner customary in the case of gusseted bag or bag hose pieces to form a suitable bottom closure. This bottom closure can be, for example, a cross bottom known per se, into which a filling valve for filling the packaging container can be incorporated from the bottom end. Instead, the bottom end can initially be open for filling the packaging container trained and closed after filling in a simple manner by a folding, winding or the like. Bottom. In any case, a good stability of the filled packaging container is achieved by the base formation in connection with the bottom area which forms a cuboid shape when the packaging container is filled. The adjoining part of the packaging container, which tapers towards the head end and is approximately frustum-shaped in the filled state of the packaging container, offers increased wearing comfort in the head end of the packaging container, which is preferably designed as a supporting part, for example by means of a stamped-in handle opening.

The packaging container shown in the drawing, designated as a whole by 1, can consist of any suitable flexible or foldable material, such as is used in the manufacture of sacks or bags. These are, in particular, paper, plastic films, laminates or fabrics, such as plastic ribbon fabrics, in one or more layers. In the example shown, the packaging container 1 has a single-layer design and consists, for example, of one plastic-coated paper, wherein the material connections for producing the bag-shaped or sack-shaped packaging container can be formed by welded or glued seams.

Zum Befüllen des Verpackungsbehältnisses 1 vom Bodenende 2 her ist der Kreuzboden 3 mit einem Füllventil 7 versehen, das in an sich bekannter Weise als unter dem Druck des eingefüllten Füllgutes selbsttätig schließendes Innenventil ausgebildet oder jede andere geeignete Ausführungsform aufweisen kann.1, the packaging container 1 has a cross bottom 3 which closes the bag tube at the bottom end 2 and which, in the usual manner, includes corner inserts 4 and bottom side envelopes 5 which overlap in the center of the bottom, and an outer bottom cover sheet 6. To fill the packaging container 1 from the bottom end 2, the cross bottom 3 is provided with a filling valve 7 which, in a manner known per se, can be designed as an automatically closing internal valve under the pressure of the filled product or can have any other suitable embodiment.

The head end 8 of the packaging container 1 forms a support part 10 by means of a finger hole 9, which is separated by a transverse seam 11 from the filling space of the packaging container, which accordingly occupies the space between the cross base 3 and the transverse seam 11. The upper, outer end forms a transverse seam 12 which, like the transverse seam 11, extends over the entire packaging width.

In the empty state of the packaging container 1 shown in FIGS. 1 and 3, the front wall 13 and the rear wall 14 of the bag tube lie flat against one another and are connected to one another at their two side edges via folded edges 15 and 16, 17 and 18, respectively. In their area adjacent to the cross base 3, the side edges of the bag tube with their folded edges 15 have a course oriented parallel to one another. From a point 19 on, the side edges of the bag tube with their folded edges 16, 17, 18 have a course converging towards the head end 8. The fold edges 16, 17, 18 each define a side fold 20 or 21 in the converging region of the side edges, the inner fold edge 16 of which is arranged in each case as an extension of the fold edge 15 of the parallel region of the side edges.

The converging area of the side margins with the gussets 20 and 21 is limited to the upper two thirds of the height of the packaging container 1 and, in the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, lies at a distance corresponding approximately to the width of the cross base 3 from the bottom plane 22 shown in broken lines in FIG the cross bottom 3 in the filled state of the packaging container 1, swiveling through 90 ° from the front wall 13, against which it rests in the empty state with one half.

As can be seen in particular from FIG. 1, the inner fold edge 16 of the side folds 20 and 21 is more inclined to the longitudinal center plane 23 of the packaging container 1 than the associated outer fold edges 17, 18 of the respective side fold 20 or 21. The insertion depth of each side fold 20, 21 increases evenly from its starting point 19 and reaches its maximum value at the end seam 12 of the head end 8, through which both side folds 20, 21 continue. In the area of the head end 8, however, the side folds 20, 21 are welded flat together and have no influence on the spatial shape of the filled packaging container, as can be seen from FIG. 2. The flat spreading of the side gussets 20 and 21 is limited to the filling space of the packaging container 1 and takes place under the pressure of the filling material filled through the filling valve 7. In order to form an appealing, approximately truncated pyramid-shaped packaging, the insertion depth of the side folds 20, 21 in the region adjacent to the transverse seam 11 has a dimension corresponding to half the width of the cross base 3.

The footprint of the filled packaging container 1 has a rectangular contour, which is defined by the corner points 24 of the bottom side envelopes 5 of the cross base 3, which are located opposite one another in pairs. When the packaging container is filled, the outer triangular corners 25 fold into the side surfaces of the packaging container that are formed, in which the flat-spread side folds 20 and 21 with V-shaped outer folding edges 17, 18 that open into the attachment points 19 are also included. The length of the transverse seam 11 closing the filling space is shorter than the length in order to achieve a truncated pyramidal shape of the packaging container in the area above the gusset starting points 19 the rectangular base of the packaging container formed by the cross base 3. A more prismatic or cuboid shape in this area is formed in the filled state of the packaging container to the extent that the length of the transverse seam 11 is brought up to the length of the cross base 3 or the standing area defined by it.

The inserted side gussets 20, 21 in the filled state of the packaging bring about their flat folds with their outer folded edges 17 and 18 in their shape stabilized side surfaces between front wall 13 and rear wall 14, the transverse dimension between the folded edges 17 and 18 in the area adjacent to the transverse seam 11 Area zones of such an extent defined that a removal device 26 with an outlet part 27 for pourable filling material contained in the filling space can be provided in one of the two side folds, in the example shown in the side fold 21. In the example shown, the removal device 26 consists of a material flap 28 that can be partially removed and folded up from the material of the side fold 21 and a flexible flat material blank that is fixed on the inside of the packaging container in the area of the side fold 21 and that, if necessary, can be removed after the material flap 28 has been separated and folded up the filling space is pulled out and then forms the outlet part 27 in the manner of a chute.

In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 4, the bottom end 2 is initially designed to be open for filling the packaging container 1. After filling through the open bottom end 2, the bottom end 2 can be closed in the filling operation by a simple folding, wrapping or the like bottom without the side folds 20 and 21 complicating the bottom formation. In the filled state of the packaging container 1, when the packaging container 1 is placed on a flat base, the closed bottom end 2 forms a standing area in the bottom plane, which is again indicated by dash-dotted lines at 22. Otherwise, this exemplary embodiment corresponds to that according to FIGS. 1 to 3, as is also indicated by the use of the same reference numerals for the corresponding or matching parts.
