Abstract

A short inking unit is known which has a dipping roller which dips into an ink fountain, an application roller which inks the printing forme, and a screen roller which transfers the ink from the dipping roller to the application roller. In this short inking unit, the doctor blade of a scraper device rests against the screen roller. For the purpose of avoiding scraper smears, the scraper device can also be constructed to alternate in the axial direction. The disadvantage is that in this known inking unit ink passes between the screen roller and the doctor blade when the ink is scraped off, which leads to an accumulation of ink on the rear side of the doctor blade. It is a disadvantage that the known inking unit has no device for preventing the accumulation of ink. The short inking unit according to the invention is a short inking unit with a screen roller which is displaceable in the axial direction. In this manner, ink is prevented from accumulating on the rear side of the doctor blade device, even in the case of alternating doctor blades. The invention can be used in all short inking units with a screen roller. <IMAGE>

Description

The present invention relates to a short inking unit for a rotary printing press with an anilox roller, an inking roller and a chamber doctor blade interacting with the anilox roller.

Such a short inking unit is known from DE-PS 31 17 341. It consists of an immersion roller immersed in an ink fountain, an application roller inking the printing form and an anilox roller which transfers the ink from the immersion roller to the application roller. The doctor blade of a stripping device lies against the anilox roller. The stripping device can optionally also be designed to oscillate in the axial direction for the purpose of suppressing doctor strips.

The known inking unit thus fulfills the function of producing a thin ink film, which is unique to each inking unit of rotary printing presses. However, when the ink is doctored off, ink passes between the anilox roller and doctor blade, which leads to an ink build-up on the back of the doctor blade. The amount of this color build-up depends on the rheology of the color. During the printing process, the ink drips or is carried away in an uncontrolled manner, causing color splashes, for example. The known inking unit disadvantageously has no device for preventing ink build-up.

From DE-OS 28 51 606 a film inking unit is known which has an ink fountain with an ink knife. A thin film strip is attached to the underside of the ink knife, which should prevent the ink from settling and dripping off and to feed the small amount of ink running off the ink knife back onto the ink film on the ink fountain roller. However, this arrangement is limited to inking units with a rotating ink knife.

The object of the invention is a short inking unit with anilox roller to be specified, in which no paint builds up on the back of the doctor device even when the doctor knife runs in opposite directions.

This task is solved by a short inking unit with anilox roller, in which the anilox roller is displaceable in the axial direction.

Further features and expediencies of the invention resulted from the description of an embodiment with reference to the figures. From the figures show:
  • Figure 1 is a schematic representation of a short inking unit with a cylinder-sized inking roller. and
  • Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the storage and drive of the anilox roller of an inking unit according to the invention.

Fig. 1 shows a schematic representation of a short inking unit with an anilox roller. This short inking unit has an anilox roller 1, an inking roller 2, an ink trough 3, a chamber doctor 4 interacting with the anilox roller 1 with an opposing doctor blade 5 and a central drive 6 for the ink pump 7, which pumps the ink from the ink trough 3 to the chamber doctor 4 .

The anilox roller 1 is connected via a half-shell coupling 8 or 9 to a drive shaft 10 and a stub shaft 13. The drive shaft 10 is rotatably supported in a shaft bearing 11 in one side wall 12 of the inking unit, and the shaft end 13 is rotatably mounted in a shaft bearing 14 in the other side wall 15 of the inking unit. The drive shaft 10 extends through the bearing 11 and carries, on the side of the bearing 11 facing away from the half-shell coupling 8, a coaxially and firmly attached drive wheel 16 for the anilox roller 1 and also a traversing device 17 which is also arranged coaxially.

The traversing device 17 essentially has a housing 18 and a wheel 19 rotatably mounted in the interior of the housing 18. The wheel 19 runs in a groove 20 formed in the drive shaft 10. The groove 20 is formed on the surface of the drive shaft 10 in such a way that it is essentially designed such that it runs essentially in a plane which is not perpendicular to the axis of the drive shaft 10 .

The present invention has the further advantage of an easily executable structure. In the case of an ink supply device which has a plurality of chamber doctor blades arranged and arranged side by side, letting the doctor blade blades traverse requires a very high technical outlay, in particular also because at least the chamber doctor blade has to be moved. On the other hand, the traversing of the anilox roller, which is mounted so that it can be moved back and forth in the axial direction in fixed bearings, is technically simple. 1 would not only have to move the chamber doctor, but also the ink pan with the pump and the central drive.
