Description

The invention relates to a tongue opener for flat knitting machines, in the form of a flat brush, which is mounted on a moving machine part so as to be pivotable about an axis running perpendicular to its direction of movement.

Tongue openers of the type mentioned are known from DE-C-131 303 in order to enable the tongues to be held open securely until a thread is inserted in addition to opening the tongues in conjunction with tubular thread guides. In modern, high-speed flat knitting machines, freely swinging tongue opener brushes can no longer reliably fulfill the intended purpose and are subject to very heavy wear.

The invention has for its object to design tongue openers of the type mentioned in such a way that they reliably perform their function even in high-speed flat knitting machines and the bristle wear is reduced.

The object is achieved according to the invention with the features listed in the characterizing part of the main claim. Due to the forced swiveling of the brush, its bristles are brought to the needle tongues in good time before they hit the needles in a favorable inclined position depending on the direction of movement of the slide, so that a certain opening angle, as determined by experience, results between the bristles and the tongue, which on the one hand does that Opening the tongue facilitates and on the other hand reduces the bristle wear that occurs during opening work, so that the service life of the tongue opener brush can be increased significantly.

The control rod can advantageously be coupled to a plurality of tongue opener brushes for synchronous forced pivoting. This is particularly important in the case of carriages of the flat knitting machines provided with a plurality of knitting systems, where the control rod can also expediently be designed as a sliding slide that follows the carriage and can be influenced by the carriage.

With a tongue opener designed according to the invention, the problem that can arise in flat knitting machines with combined lock systems that tongue openers can hinder the transfer of machines can also be eliminated by a special shape of the flat brushes, according to the invention the length of the bristles of the flat brush from one located below the pivot axis Middle area of the brush occurring maximum length after both brush ends preferably decreases uniformly This shortening of the bristles towards the brush ends ensures that the needles in the pull-off movement in the rear area of the inclined brushes emerge earlier than usual from the area of influence of the brush, so that the needle tongues again Being able to close early without hindrance It is therefore not necessary to lift the brushes transversely to the running direction of the moving machine part.

An exemplary embodiment of a tongue opener designed according to the invention is explained in more detail below and in combination with further tongue openers with reference to the accompanying drawing.

Der Träger 18 ist in nicht dargestellter Weise am in Fig. 1 nur angedeuteten Schlittenbacken 19 einer Flachstrickmaschine befestigt.1 shows a tongue opener 10 with a flat brush with a web-like brush body 11, in which the bristle trim 12 of the flat brush 11/12 is anchored. The brush body 11 is fastened interchangeably by means of a clamping claw 13 and clamping screws 14 to an angled holder 15 shown in FIG. 2. The holder 15 is provided with an upper bearing projection 16 which is pivotably mounted in a fork-shaped carrier 18 about an axis formed by a screw bolt 17 and directed perpendicular to the plane of the flat brush 11/12. The carrier 18 is fastened in a manner not shown on the carriage jaws 19 of a flat knitting machine, which are only indicated in FIG. 1.

By a longitudinal displacement of the control rod in one direction or the other, the holder 20 in the carrier 18 can be pivoted about the axis 17 and thus also 15 bring the flat brush 11/12 into an inclined position.

In the apparent from FIGS. 3 and 4 combination of four tongue openers 10, all of which are attached with their supports 18 to the slide jaws of a flat knitting machine, not shown, the control rod is designed as a slide valve 20 ', with the holders 15 of all four tongue opener 10 is firmly connected. The drag valve is provided on its rear side with two stop rollers 21, which cooperate with a slidable driver 23, indicated by a double arrow 22, by means of the driver 23, the drag valve 20 'is moved into its trailing position, whereby the inclined position of the flat brushes is achieved. Fig. 4 shows three of the four flat brushes 11/12 in an inclined position, which they assume during a slide movement in the direction of arrow 24. The bristles of the bristle part 12 of the flat brushes 11/12 have a maximum length in the central region 12.1 located below the pivot axis 17. In the bristle areas 12.2 and 12.3 adjoining on both sides, the bristle length decreases evenly towards the brush ends. This shape of the bristle area 12 ensures that the needle heads 25 of the needles moved in the withdrawal direction are released again very early by the bristle area 12 of the tongue opener 10, as indicated in FIG. 4 on one of the tongue openers. The bristle trim 12 can also have a special cut shown in FIG. 2, which, in addition to the angle between the needle tongue and bristles already mentioned at the beginning, achieved by the selected pivoting position of the flat brushes 11/12, additionally ensures that the bristles open reliably on the tongue favor and additionally reduce the bristle wear.
