Description

The invention relates to an L-shaped end rail for delimiting an edge closure of floor and wall coverings made of ceramic plates, the L-legs of the end rail being connectable to the grout, adhesive or the like used for laying the ceramic plate.

A cover rail of the type described is known from DE-OS 25 53 185.

This cover rail can be attached to the screed floor or the shell wall before laying floor or wall coverings and should enable a clean finish, especially for coverings that have raw cut edges. L-shaped rails of this type are fastened in the end area with one leg to the floor, for example a screed or chipboard floor, preferably by taping. When using this type of rail, the mortar or adhesive layer on the rail tears again and again.

The task of an end rail according to the invention is to prevent tears of this type.

This object is achieved in an end rail according to the invention in that the short leg of the end rail is provided on its inside and the long leg on its outer sides with structures which increase adhesion. These adhesion-increasing structures preferably consist of webs which run in the axial direction of the rail.

The adhesion-increasing structures, which can also be creases, have a preferred web height between 0.05 and 1 mm. With their help, it is possible that the end rail with the section edges of the floor or wall coverings are securely connected to one another by means of a grout or adhesive layer and that there are no longer any tears in this area.

The end rail can be made of metal, e.g. Brass, or consist of a suitable plastic. In order to achieve sufficient bending stiffness of the short leg of the end rail, this short leg can be made with a greater material thickness than is required for the long leg. The long leg is provided with larger openings through which the adhesive or mortar connects the floor or wall directly to the covering.

An embodiment of an end rail according to the invention is shown in the drawings and is explained in more detail below.

Show it:
  • Figure 1 is a perspective view of a section through an end rail according to the invention when used as a corner connection.
  • Figure 2 is a perspective view of a section through an end rail used as a closing edge for floor coverings.

As shown in Figure 1, the end edge is provided in its the section edges 10, 10 'facing sides of its legs with adhesion-increasing structures 4, 4'. These adhesion-increasing structures are preferably designed as webs 9 running parallel to the rail axis 11 and have a height of 0.05 to 1 mm. The section edges 10, 10 'of the tiles 7, 8 are connected using mortar or adhesive 6 with the end rail, the grooves between the webs giving the mortar or adhesive an excellent liability. Openings 5, 5 'on the long leg of the end rail allow penetration of the adhesive through the end rail and a connection of the mortar or adhesive layer, embedded in the tiles 7 and 8, with the floor or wall.

Die haftungserhöhende Struktur 4 auf der Außenseite des langen Schenkels 3 sowie die Durchbrechungen 5 ermöglichen eine sehr gute Verbindung von Fußbodenabschlußschiene und Fußbodenbelag.FIG. 2 shows the use of an end rail according to the invention as the end edge of a floor covering. The section edge 10 of the foot covering 12 engages in the short leg 2 of the end rail 1 and the mortar or adhesive layer can bring about a good connection between the end rail and the edge of the section due to the adhesion-increasing structure 4 'on the side of the short leg facing the section edge 10. The adhesion-increasing structure 4 on the outside of the long leg 3 and the openings 5 enable a very good connection between the floor end rail and the floor covering.
